All of my gains are the result of what OP preaches. Numerous 4-figure and 5-figure airdrops just from using shit. I wasn't even an airdrop hunter. We are still very much in the infrastructure narrative; BTC vs ETH, ETH vs SOL, SOL vs L2s, etc. Here is the alpha: We are all alpha and beta testers right now. And boy does it pay well for the testers. However, eventually all roads lead to the apps. When this shift happen the infrastructure vanishes from the user. All the annoying shit like signing transactions, bridging, etc go away. You won't even know or care what chain you're on because it won't matter. Every chain will be able to access every app. Gmail and others will provide seamless wallet creation. All transactions will be nearly free or feeless and instant.

Recently when I transferred 11 SOL to my hard wallet. Coinbase delayed the transaction for 3 days for "my" security. Said they could make the transer immediately if I provided them with the same KYC they already have on file. Very strange .. started on doing that but when it got to the point that I felt like they were making a mugshot, I stopped as I was just getting to suspicious. Second time this has happened too. I did get my crypto when they said I would both times. But, this would have been a real pisser should I had been transferring in order to make a purchase. It also makes me wonder if they are having liquidity issues and just didn't have the resources to make the transfer. So, Coinbase does occasionally do things that seem kind of sketchy. Also, it took me 3 years to discover they have a user manual. My fault I know .. But, all in all very satisfied with them.

>Solana has the best dapps already tho? SOL is full of eth dapp knockoffs. >Why not just use one chain, it makes it simpler Same reason DOT needs multichain solutions. >Also sol is faster and cheaper. SOL is slower and more expensive than ETH L2s and transactions are failing at high rates.

>shitty centralized L2s that are a nightmare for users to use. ... what? How are Arbitrum or Optimism a "nightmare" to use? You can send funds for a fraction of a cent, you can interact with smart contracts for a few cents, you can bridge fairly cheaply between L2s, send it to a CEX to trade there, you can borrow or lend funds on AAVE for basically no cost... the UX is awesome. The security is not as bulletproof as ETH L1, but it doesn't need to be. "Shitty centralized" really just means you picked up some buzz words and have no idea what you're talking about. Yes many L2s are centralized to an extent, but that's only relevant for liveness of the L2 chain, meaning the worst that could happen would be the chain shutting down and having to recover your assets through L1 transactions. The security of your funds doesn't depend on some trusted authority. The ETH L2 paradigm is as close to a solution to the trilemma as currently exists. I'm not an ETH maxi, I own BTC, SOL and everything else. I'm just seeing that currently ETH is working really well.

I haven't thought much about it, but I could see ETH flipping BTC in maybe 4-6 years, or SOL in about 6-8? Smaller chains would take even longer due to market cap and momentum alone. I take a wait and see approach though and don't really believe any one chain will take over the whole market, ever. I think we'll have one big interoperable mega chain in the future. >I read some of the link that you posted. There is a lot more to decentralized network security than 51% attacks. Bridge attacks is one that comes to mind from recent history. Funny you bring that up. [ICP actually lets you port over BTC value without bridging at all in the form of ckBTC.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wBV4oSaCknk)

By exposed I mean it is under much more pressure from competing chains that are better, cheaper, faster, and attracting devs. I would say its dominance is much more under attack. Trends are measured over time. Right now SOL is the biggest trending L1 this run, and I would argue that hurts ETH not BTC. So what will surpass BTC and in what time frame? I read some of the link that you posted. There is a lot more to decentralized network security than 51% attacks. Bridge attacks is one that comes to mind from recent history.

I don't pick favorites and I'm not married to any one coin. I hedge my bets and ride the whole market and just reassess periodically. I'm holding BTC *and* BCH right now, for example, as well as ETH, SOL, ICP, and a few others. Not sure what you mean by ETH being "exposed". It's still very much a contender. It had a surge and crash in dominance early on, but has trended back up since then against BTC. It's also had two major upgrades in the last two years that have dramatically improved the network and reduced fee's. As for security, I mentioned this elsewhere, [but the only qualitative study I've seen on the topic recently concluded that Ethereum is more secure](https://cointelegraph.com/news/bitcoin-ethereum-51-percent-attacks-coin-metrics-research). How are you measuring "security"?

>If you’re new, looking for 10x is a horrible idea TBH. Buy ETH, BTC and maybe a few top 50 alts you like but nothing risky. That's what I did o7. More or less. ~ 70%BTC, 15%ETH, 10%SOL and then the other 5% in 10 more or less random different alts just to see what happens. Btw. don't worry, it's not all of my savings/net worth. I honestly might just leave it at that for the moment. Probably DCA some. But I'm not sure I'm going to look very deep into the whole analysis thing. I understand that it is extremely complex and that there are far far far more advanced people and corporations than me who 1: manipulate the system 2: might still lose money. So I'm not sure if it is worth it for me. Probably better to focus on work and my hobbies.

Jeez sounds like a lot of hoops to go through.. I've only done the first route with SOL from Coinbase to Phantom. But what's the point of Coinbase wallet in these cases? They give you access to L2 ETH, right?

The obvious answer is DCA. But if you’re jumping in at once, break it up by mc tiers. 20% in BTC. 30% in one or two Top 10 coin. (I would 50/50 SOL and TON) 20% in one Top 25 coin. (APT is my bet) 20% in two Top 50 coin. (KAS and HBAR) 10% in one or two memes. Something 100m-500m mc.

It's superior to ETH, faster and more scalable at the L1 level, SOL is a level 2 reliant on ETH, more prone to centralization, security risks and congestion.

Mentions:#ETH#SOL

ETH L2s are now cheaper than SOL and definitely BSC.

Mentions:#ETH#SOL

I get that but you still need evidence that they were "in on it". Tbh me personally I would gladly find out more about all the deals and what was happening and have some documents in the open. I bet a lot of them got some super cheap SOL to shill it.

Mentions:#SOL

Pro tip - don’t buy BTC if you’re playing with less than 5-6 figures one) the fees will get out as you found two) you’re really not going make major gains from this point on BTC Start looking at alts like ETH, SOL, AVAX (DYOR) etc if you want low fees and high profit potential

Another hairbrained analysis. We just gonna ignore things that are actually useful like XLM, XDC, JASMY, HELIUM, BTT. Fetch, RNDR, GALA, AVAX, SOL? You get so caught up cause you can't get in on the memes, or ig bc you don't understand how to use these tools. Either way that's a pretty robot answer.

Why are BNB, SOL, TON, & AVAX left off that list if they are 4, 5, 9, & 12 largest cap-size crypto respectively? It is because for instance SOL’s trx are 75% communication overhead? Wouldn’t the 25% numbers still be large enough to qualify it for the list? What exactly is commuication overhead and why don’t these other coins have a bulk of their trx as that? I saw TRX leads because it is an easy and cheap way to convert to stable coin, if that’s the case and it’s getting flooded with so many trx’s, why isn’t it getting higher fees? Sorry noob to all of this and trying to understand. Thanks in advance!

Well, it's because of Halving hype. A lot people wanted to be in the last blocks. For large amounts BTC will be reliable in future, for daily transaction I think we should stick with Altcoins - SOL, XRP, BNB, WBT, USDT

Well, some ALTS pumped really high, even before the BTC halving, few names like NEAR, SOL, CFX, Singularity, ecc. For example, i invested in Near when it was at 1.5 , and sold at 6.9 (And it even touched 8 dollars, but ok, i am no expert), Marketcap was at 2.7 Trillions, while now is at 2.4, About my bear market opinion: Israel/Iran tensions, China/Japan tensions , people not having money in the US, France/Englad domestic problems, and so on. I modestly think that people will not invest in the markets, but will try to save up as much money as possible, Money is useless, you can't eat that.

Here is some metrics for you today, April 21st. Transactions per hour: SOL 9,651,600 ETH 47,213 BTC 27,923

The issue that POWSCHE has is the liquidity pool. There's only $200-300k for a $6.5M MC coin, so assuming half of the pool is in SOL/USD and half in the token, that only leaves $100k-150k of withdrawalable funds. That's why the MC has come crashing down from $30 mil a few weeks ago to what it is today because the liquidity can't really support any profit taking. Until the Market Cap to Liquidity ratio gets solved, POWSCHE will always be exceedingly risky.

I would say 70% into ETH, SOL, BTC (weighted as your risk profile allows SOL>BTC) 20% into Cosmos, LINK, whatever you think might do well over the next couple of cycles. 10% into learning fees. Whatever strange things you wanna play with that will probably burn you.

XRP is so underwhelming. I had a friend finally sell and just buy SOL instead.

Mentions:#XRP#SOL

Last cycle, alt coins were trying to showcase how they are better than bitcoin…mainly with scalability claims but other things too. “ETH will flip BTC” they said. Bitcoin remained the only truly decentralized asset. This cycle, alt coins are showcasing how they are better than ETH. SOL for example…”the ETH killer”. They’re all fighting to be number two. We know…there is no second best.

I’m pretty new to this as well, opting for an intuitive approach. So what makes sense to me, buy low sell high, but you don’t know when it will go up or when it will go down. So how do you figure this out? Pay attention to the markets daily, if not every few hour, noticing dips and gauging whether the market has potential. Personally I went with platform Coinbase, starting in 2022 I invested 100 into the 19,000 Bitcoin and some into a few meme coins. It grew to 300 dollars recently and, with that I got a Coinbase One account, 30$ a month. Since then, about a month ago, I have been scouring the markets for available coin that has potential. The One subscription limits fees on every transaction, and since I am dealing in such low amounts it feels worth it. My indicators for potential. Look for something that is way down from where it was in recent time, look for volume, the more volume a coin is having leads to more volatility. Look around at what people are saying, don’t believe most of it, but just see what people think, they can’t tell the market any better, it is essentially random and gambling. Though that may be the case, paying attention to what people are saying can keep you up to date with important events that may be happening all around the crypto space. When it comes to selling, I sell my gains almost immediately. 5% here, 10% there, ooh 15%. Sometimes I convert into something I hope for potential, if not, put the gains into a big coin that you support like BTC ETH, or SOL(if you’re edgy).

Mentions:#BTC#ETH#SOL

I am going to go against the grain of this thread and say OP is not correct. Fundamental and tech do matter. That is why ppl moved from ETH to SOL to trade shitcoin. The tech on SOL just provides a better trading experience. Yes, SOL has outages. Yes, SOL has tx fails. But for 99% of users, these drawbacks are easily outweighed by other SOL's benefits. What the space often gets wrong is they use their bag bias to overestimate how much their bag chain's tech and fundamentals are actually worth. Take the easy example of ETH overhyping its validator set size. Yes, ETH has the largest PoS validator set size. But the fact is, if you pick 99% of the top 50 chains, the average Joe Shmoe is just not important enough for validators to take note and censor him/her. I am sorry, they might want to MEV attack you, but don't give a fuck about who you are to care about censoring you - unless you are entity listed criminal or live in an unfortunate country like Iran. The fact is, the ETH large validator set is just an unnecessary expense, compared to other chains' much smaller validator sets. I can come up with many more examples of other ecosystems too of ppl overrating the worth of their tech design. The core problem is, the space's design choices are very ivory towerish, not guided by market forces. It sounds ok, but it is true. The source of the problem lies in 99% of buyers never interact on the chain and use products on the chain. So chain's design decisions are primarily driven by legacy holders and historical dependency on price action. Why am I going this grain? I sense fuckers like OP want to spin the narrative of getting ppl to buy gaming/AI vaporwares. These vaporwares are pure greater fool games, with the end narrative of passing the bag to retail. Trust me. "Retailers" are smarter than 99% of you imbeciles here, thinking trash mobile derivatives are worth paying 1K or more for an NFT access just to play. They aren't going to buy your bag. Memes maybe, because it is a crypto invention and makes it hard for outsiders to evaluate. When it comes to gaming, the space is a dumb sack of shit compared to what outsiders understand about the product.

Yeah that worked out for me with SOL.

Mentions:#SOL

Pretty solid spread, in terms of your categories, focusing 30% of your portfolio on tokens with over $25B market cap like ETH and SOL is a solid move, considering their stability and potential for growth. If you're okay with a bit of gamble, throwing a tiny percent into a crazy memecoin like WIF, ROCK or BODEN might surprise you. Then you can always roll those meme profits into safer bets(Large caps). Interesting to see you favor Layer 1s and 2s, but don't underestimate strong oracle players. DIA is becoming increasingly integrated within the BRC20 ecosystem, and its role with Runes and Bitcoin L2s could make it a good bet.

ETH’s price motivator up to this point isn’t much different than SOL’s. They’re both just L1s that are used to trade shitcoins with. This has worked well as they are like selling pickaxes during the gold rush, but how long are pickaxes a good investment?

I still have my stack(s), but haven't bought anything new, haven't been DCA'ing, haven't researched much for most of 2023 or so far in 2024 (minus moving entirely out of one position and doubling up on another). So, here goes. What are these coins? ETH, I obviously know. SOL, I know. Not well, but I know what it is and a *little* about it. ALGO and NEAR, I know *of.* Am I out of touch with the hot new coins, or is this portfolio just a shitcoin roulette? What do these category 3 coins *do* or *have* or *enable* that other coins don't?

My portfolio is 70% ETH 30% SOL

Im surprised there’s no DOT in there! I’d swap Algo for DOT any day. I’d also up my ratio of ETH and SOL. :)

My bags are largely stacked already but I’ve added some positions in AIOZ, AKT, SOL, PERC, AGI and KOMPETE. I was tempted to add more to SUPER since it’s my best performer so far, but it already makes up 27% of my portfolio (despite only 5% of my investment cash going into it - it’s just grown that much) so I figured it would be good to add more to my smaller bags for better diversity.

Bro. SOL and most memes are a joke. But when you find one in a sea of doubt...you hodl. With KENDU we work, we don't gamble. The alpha is undeniable. Followed by Shiba dev, Shytoshi, and created by OG Shiba holders. All organic. Started at $3k MC, touched $11M, now at $5M. Verify Shytoshi following the Kendu main Twitter. Why would he follow a low cap meme token?

Lost 4 SOL on memecoins. Using a final .25 SOL on $Smirk and am 40% up. Only like...4000% more to go or something..

As someone else stated, you send SOL to a Solana wallet like SolFlare. Then from there you can either swap it for $WEED in said wallet or connect your wallet to a site like dextools or Birdseye and do it from there.

Memecoins are more honest, I give you that. They at least don't pretend to do something they are not. However, I don't see this as an improvement. In a way, we just proved the critics right, who said this whole space isn't about technological advancement but just gambling and crime. Maybe they had a point. Now while I agree, that the majority of alts are indeed shitcoins, you can't always judge from the token price alone. Some interesting projects have been built over the years, but you couldn't tell from the token price. Monero for example is the best privacy coin, much needed and used in its own small niche. I call this a success, but you couldn't tell from its price action. Something useful build built, doesn't automatically mean price go up. Price action is mostly based on speculation, not quality of the project (though sometimes they correlate obviously). Now the sad part of this cycle turning into a pure meme circus is that developers aren't actually building cool stuff anymore. If you look at the stats for ETH and SOL devs on github, there's over a quarter less activity compared to last cycle and that's surprising given that we are in the middle of a bull market right now. And why should they invest much effort in something new, when everyone just wants to gamble anyway? Sorry, but this isn't an improvement in my view.

I forgot to add... --> NFT's are dropping in the next 24 hours --> Airdrops incoming to large SOL wallet holders So much good stuff happening with this project!

XRP, DOGE, WIF, BONK, SOL & ETH. Just remember, don’t put all your eggs in one basket

Welcome to the reddit crypto community, we eat the young here. Be prepared to be met with just downvotes as you first start learning. [Binance](https://academy.binance.com/en) is a good place to start learning. The market though generally is like a giant sea, the tide rises and falls about the same way everywhere. There will be a few outperformers compared to others, but do your research, there will almost always be a reason for this. BTC sets the trend generally, and then all the others like ETH, LTC and SOL and so on follow that trend.

The coins with the highest trading volume could be one way to choose a "nice" coin. BTC, ETH, SOL, DOGE, XRP are some possibilities.

The reason you are unable to swap your Wormhole (Portal) wrapped Ethereum for other tokens is because you don't have any $SOL in your Solana wallet to pay the gas fees. Here is what you do. First, you'll need to get some $SOL in the wallet. You can do this buy sending it from a centralized exchange like Coinbase or Binance, or, if you have tokens on a chain other than Solana, you can use a cross-chain bridge like deBridge. deBridge will allow you to bridge the tokens to Solana and swap them for SOL in a single transaction deBridge link: [https://app.debridge.finance/r/8122](https://app.debridge.finance/r/8122) Once you have some $SOL in your Solana wallet for gas fees, you should be able to swap your Wormhole (Portal) wrapped Ethereum for Solana or USDC using Jupiter Exchange. Please let me know if that works.

Bought my first BTC at $2k in May 2017 (just a few hundred bucks). Held during the 2018 bear market. Bought 2 BTC at $6k and 10 ETH at $150 in 2019. Sold some in late 2021. DCA'd during 2022/2023 in BTC, ETH and SOL again. Now I'm just waiting and watching. Haven't sold anything yet.

Sold my 1 full eth and sold 50% of my BTC. I am expecting some devastation in crypto over the next couple months and want to have USDC ready to buy alts at dirt cheap prices. I think SOL is going to dip to $90 for example and I want to be ready to buy. I used to be a BTC holder, but I’ve given up my dream of being a full coiner now I’m just trying o see if I can turn a profit with alts. I never liked ETH I think it’s a shit coin.

Alts I'll be stacking during this beautiful gift of dip: AVAX (or SOL if it dips harder), IMX, FET, AIOZ, AKT, NEAR Let's fkn go. Down further first... Then back to bull after more stacking. 💪🏼

No, I will sell September-october DCA out. I have a plan and need to stick to the plan. Maybe I will sell some SOL before if SOL goes to $300-400

Early to mid march just as BTC peaked sold all SOL at 131, 191, 181 for about +120%. Stax, CKB, FET, DOT, Wif and Pepe too making from -20% to +300% but it was all in traces, tiny % of total folio. Now keeping most of it in usdc in a lending pool and waiting for buying opportunities for more of BTC

I sold 0.1% of my BTC and bought some SOL, INJ and NEAR

Sold BTC starting at 52K, then a sell order at 62, 67, and 71. I have a buy order set at 57k. Sold 1 eth st 3400, and another at 3800. Buy 1 eth when pulled back to 3200. Might buy another eth if it drops further. Never owned SOL until last week bought some at 130 and 140.

Mentions:#BTC#SOL

I sold about 5% of my portfolio over the last month, but no BTC, ETH or SOL. Waiting for bull to go full tilt to DCA out the rest.

I sold SOL to travel, sold at $194. DCA'd from $150 all the way to $50 in previous bear cycle, shit my pants at $8 and stopped. Almost doubled my money this cycle and called it good enough.

#Solana Con-Arguments Below is a Solana con-argument written by a deleted user. > **Solana Cons** > > **Centralization** > > An estimated 1,700 validator nodes support Solana. If a single entity or collection of entities comes to possess a sizable portion of the SOL token supply, the Solana network may become unduly concentrated. The network's decentralization may suffer because Solana requires more specialized equipment to join and is unable to draw a sizable user base. There is a high concentration of stakes among validators, with 22 validators controlling 33% of total staked SOL. Accordingly, if 22 validators conspired, the network might theoretically come to an end. > > **Network Outages** > > * September 14,2021: 15 Hours of outage as bots capitalized on an IDO on raydium > > * January 2022: The whole month faced partial outages of 6-12 per day due to high demand of NFT minting and defi usage. > > * April 30, 2022: 7 Hour outage due to a DDOS attack by bots > > **Solana, the token** > > The token distribution on Solana reveals that the top 0.04% of addresses, or around 3,000 addresses outright, hold 88.5% of the current outstanding SOL. Along with early investors and the founding team, these wallets also contain staking pools and exchanges. 11.7 million SOL are included in the biggest wallet. Less than 1% of the outstanding SOL is held by the bottom 98.6% of wallets on Solana. ***** Would you like to learn more? Reading your responses here you misunderstand the concern about exchanges. The issue is leaving large amount of coins on the exchange for the long term. The past 15 years is riddled with countless examples of exchanges going broke or getting hacked. The risk is directly proportional to the amount you keep on the exchange and the duration you leave them there. This risk is incredibly low if you’re just using the exchange temporally to cash out. Or if after buying some, you keep a small percentage of your overall balance on the exchange for a few weeks until you have a large enough UTXO to withdraw. Also low risk. The people really at risk are those who have their entire stack in an exchange wallet for 5 years with no plan to ever go to cold storage. If the exchange goes under at *any* point, they’re SOL.

subscribe to blockchain backer on YT you are late to this cycle, a lot of alts have already made several multiples of their ATL of the current cycle. Ex: SOL is more than 10x into it. how much more is everybody's guess

Hey, I appreciate your follow-up. When I replied, I wanted to emphasize the speculative nature of your investment strategy, especially with ADA. Allocating 50% of your portfolio based on the hope it reaches a specific price to meet your financial goals is a significant risk. This approach is less about solid investment fundamentals and more about high-stakes betting on future price increases. You've noted that ADA currently lacks a compelling narrative and strong developer engagement, which are critical elements for sustained growth. Plus, choosing ADA while dismissing other cryptos like BTC or SOL due to personal biases against their fundamentals may mean missing out on more stable opportunities. I'm not trying to dismiss your choices; rather, I'm highlighting the gamble involved and the importance of being aware of the risks. Make sure you're comfortable with these risks, including the possibility of not achieving the expected outcomes.

tech is better on both projects, SOL is like 7 servers somewhere. It's not real crypto. Like XRP-shit. I buy and hold stuff that I trust the fundamentals with. That in itself is not degen I recon.

I’m officially 25% down across SOL, RNDR and BTC💀💀 Is ~10k enough loss to get out?

Mentions:#SOL#RNDR#BTC

Well, kinda. Yes and no. If you trade SOL for BTC (or ETH or any other crypto), you're still trading one asset for another. Just because BTC-USD (or ETH-USD...or BTC-EUR or ETH-EUR or any other crypto-fiat pair) is bearish doesn't mean that SOL-BTC is bearish (nor does it necessarily mean that it's bullish). Point is, if you're just shuffling around your trading pairs, chasing the "least bad" exchange rate, you're gonna have a bad time. Buy an asset with your fiat. When you see another asset outperforming your asset (in both head-to-head and in fiat terms), then trade your asset for this new one. Rinse and repeat until, eventually, you end up back at fiat (in a bear market). Basically, you're not gonna evade a particular market unless you get really lucky and find a coin that rallies when everything around it crashes, unless you can exit that market. And one of the few ways to do that directly is with fiat.

Hardly. I did pretty well last halving, and cashed out almost everything in November 2021 when I got to be part of the Santa Floki pull. But since then I really only day trade, and most of that handled by algo bots, so I will probably have entered and exited several times in the next few days. Still, with this retreat the last few days, looks good for a hold, actually. Probably not on SOL, that is usually a quick one, but for BTC... mid 2024 should have us well above the current ATH.

Alright, I bought back in today... SOL 128 and BTC 61k. So, crash incoming, lol. Seriously, though, at least now we don't have to worry about a post-halving drop seeing as we did that early...

Sounds like you're right at home in this sub. You should stay away from SOL and instead you should buy coins that no one uses nor cares about. >Some big players want you as exit liquidity when bullrun kicks in.... This has been the case for 4 years now... what are they waiting for?

Traded SOL/BTC when the plunge happened last weekend. If you want to hodl on a certain coin for long term, be it BTC or SOL, you can use it as base currency for trading. But most people prefer to hold stable coins between tradings, as it’s easier to tell their value.

If you want to feel better then repurchase the same amount of SOL and the 9.2 million shitcoins that you lost, just in case those shitcoins take off because if they do then you will really be regretting it that you lost more than $60.

If you are asking about converting to stable coins before bear. Then yes that is my plan as well. Sell or dca out near ATH and convert to stable coin before you are left holding SOL.
