What if VTI sucks crap to the S&P500? what then? in the past 3 months SPY is ahead of VTI and QQQ the past week, even worse... looking at a 3 year timeframe, QQQ is better than SPY, and VTI is worse than SPY. 5 years plus QQQ leaves the other two in the dust.... Berkshire beats the S&P and VTI QQQ still stomps everything else everything from 5 days to 3 years, as a timeframe, Berkshire-Hathaway beats everything
Futures are down less than 1%. Not a bloodbath yet. But April 2024 is shaping up to be among my worst months ever. QQQ down 5.4% in seven days and, lucky me, I've been overweight cyber security. Half as bad percentwise as April 2022, but we've still got 12 days to go.
My QQQ put dead on last night![img](emote|t5_2th52|4260)
Depends on your personality how hard you’re willing to work I had a managed account. I do it myself now looking back 20 years. I would’ve been better off just putting it in the S&P 500 and QQQ and leaving it alone instead of buying and selling individual stocks. and I study and spend time on my portfolio. I like Charles schwab.
Are we doing puts on SPY or QQQ? Anyone have an opinion on which will be better? 🐻
Let's hope so. I'm reading the same, so QQQ just dropped 2% for nothing ? ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|facepalm)
I got QQQ calls expiring in a month hopefully they’ll be fine 😔
No. /ES and /NQ and all other futures trading just fine. SPY and QQQ are not futures products.
QQQ V ![img](emote|t5_2th52|4276) I’d have bought at 416 if I had cash
I can try based on what I understand: It's a type inverse Index like SQQQ. So, when QQQ goes down, SQQQ goes up by 3x. It's basically meant for short events like a market crash to hedge. SOXL is similar and also an Inverse 3x market-cap-weighted index of 30 US-listed semiconductor companies
I sold my SPY and QQQ shares today lol I’m still fucked but hey at least there’s that
I’m so jealous. I only have (1) SPY and (1) QQQ put that I bought at market open. Both up 200-300% at different times tonight.
Yeah, wait until you experience it happening on things like SPY and QQQ ![img](emote|t5_2th52|4271)

QQQ was at 445 a week ago, now at 419, fucking GUH my brothers, fucking GUHHHH
QQQ futes a full 1% red 💀 PUTS FOMO
I was last Friday bought a 160 TSLA put sold it for 1k this morning and bought 2 500 SPY puts and a 425 and 424 QQQ puts. Hopefully I can make some money back
They don't use futures its total return swaps borrowing cost is somewhere close to the overnight rate, but it actually does when you move up in a straight line like jan/feb you get over 3x returns from it compounding on its last closing price, if you dont believe it back test it from the covid dip to its peak NOV 19 2021. 2022 QQQ had a 35% draw down TQQQ had an 81% drawdown but if it perfectly tracked 3x performance it would have been liquidated.
this is actually true. QQQ daytrading is the way to go
whomever is holding SPY or QQQ calls for tomorrow, sorry for your loss
The QQQ has outperformed the 500 considerably over the last 20 years. A 50-50 mix would be a great portfolio.
Funny thing is this still has a looong way to drop. QQQ was at 340 in late October ![img](emote|t5_2th52|4275)
QQQ puts again like all week
Same exactly, port was at 45k last week, now at 25k, made every wrong move doubling down on QQQ and SPX calls every day. Fucked me up good.

You could also accomplish something similar by investing in an index such as the QQQ which is the Nasdaq-100 and would have nearly the same result with less hassle.
What futes you looking at QQQ still red
need it to be up to save my QQQ
China stocks up, QQQ down. Nature is healing.
one thing about groupthink i saw a list of the top ten 'stocks' bought by people through their bank/broker.... and it's truly amazing how it's almost always the most common and popular names and products in the news, like a Google or Tesla or Apple or Oil Company or Bank. no one picks the weird industries or less common names ........ I just bought my Value Line subscription this month, so i was looking at all the weirder things they offered Basically it's like binders for the big stocks and you can also get one for the smaller stocks too but they had two things which were extremely unusual a monthly dossier with one stock they pick, and it's 'exactly' what you said for the old widow scared of what to buy, or who to rely on, and their answer is to just get 12 stocks in the mail over 12 months It's not for most people, but i thought that was really an interesting way to do it... other than those Boglehead or Templeton funds or the QQQ Technology funds or the SPY S&P500 ETF way of thought. ......... they had another one for the small cap or mid cap obscurities, and they do the same thing give you a big envelope once a month but a high quality safe one and a high quality risky one ......... one of my friends from school would have saved a lot of money doing something simple like that... they would pick the most risky gold stocks and oil stocks, grumbling that all the Walmarts and McDonalds aren't profitable enough or if he did buy them, they never made money.... ........ It's all about temperment, and knowing when and how to avoid risk i think sorta like poker, know when it's a risky hand and is it a small pot of chips or a massive pot of chips
the problem is that you ideally would want a fund like QQQ and say okay i got 100 stocks, but honestly, i don't really need 65 of those the question is you would not want a lot of those overvalued high-volatility stocks to buy right away, so a fund allows you to pick the usually good stocks and usually enough undervalued ones to make it worth it, as you pray for growth to continue .............. i think you're still attached regardless of what to do and it's more a state of mind to be detached.... but as long as you're consistent with a reasonably good strategy, you're fine. ........ some funds can slowly degrade and others zoom upwards and some can do that high volatility too
Lmao netflix bulls see you at 570 tmw, rip QQQ
Can i talk to the manager of SPY and QQQ pls I want a refund![img](emote|t5_2th52|12787)
Stop blaming TSM, what else did you want their ER to reflect ? - They overcame a 7.4 earthquake without anything major - Are the US rate cuts not happening their fault ? US investors putting money elsewhere their fault ? - Look at QQQ/SPY falling. Check SMA50 if you haven't and just wait to see how the next NVDA ER goes.
If you want to add now, just buy QQQ. If you're looking for individual names keep an eye out during earnings the next few weeks. There should be some opportunities with this rate tantrum going on. AAPL is getting into a more reasonable spot if you're looking to buy like right now.
Spy and QQQ still hasnt had a -2% close in over 300 trading days, More pain to come
Bull cuck boutta learn. QQQ didn’t recover from the 2000 drop until 2016, time for another lost decade!
Lost $10k the last week. Reason would say to sell my long calls on QQQ and SPY, but any reason to wait until NFLX earnings/tomorrow morning? For that matter, wait until May 1st to see what Powell speech?
Good news, QQQ and SPY are also in the red.
QQQ down over $20 in one week, sheeesh
Make it or break it moment off resistance rn for SPY and QQQ![img](emote|t5_2th52|31224)
Is the bull market over? Have long calls for mid may and june on QQQ and SPY, should I just cut them now?
Been riding puts down on QQQ but I feel another bounce off resistance rn at the 423 level
While I'd like for NFLX to flush the market at this point (not sure it'll happen as its earnings are good if earnings whisper is right), I gotta say, this will sure look mighty similar to January 2022 OPEX if it occurs. If so, then that'll mean 6 day losing streak, gap down bigly on Monday, then reverse, and I'd now be worried about the Nov 2021 ATH breaking for QQQ.
MMs need QQQ to close at 425 lmao
The thing that sucks balls is Netflix has been going straight up without stopping since Q3 2023. It's more due for a pullback than all the AI bullshit, and it will undoubtedly tank the QQQ even further.
Will also add it doesn't work for everything. S&P500 is the real exception. QQQ has only outperformed if you bought high but held the downturn for years, bought low and held, constantly had more money to double down during downturns, and luckily rode a massive tech innovation wave. Most 3x funds get wiped the fuck out because they don't constantly go up the way the S&P500 has the last decade or so with pension funds and retirement accounts constantly pouring money into it. China bear? China bull? Any index bear? Most sector/industry 3x like SOXL? 3x bonds like the 20yr/TLT in TMF? Mostly down with a good number of them wiped the fuck out. Even some index 3X don't massively outperform like the 3x/2x Russell 2000 in TNA/UWM which has had periods of outperformance but you can't really hold like you do SSO.
QQQ puts are the new NVDA
QQQ rocketing to the ground. Houston, we have a problem.
How the fuck did I just get out of the 0DTE QQQ 427 calls that I bought at open - 50% in the green?
Just need QQQ to hit $430 today
Seems like large caps ex tech are gonna overpower tech being a drag for a change, but that will just about do it for me with the Taiwan Semi reaction. Shouldn't be in a straight line, but QQQ is gonna test the November 2021 record high for a 10% drop.
I think part of the problem is reddid considers 50%VOO / 50% QQQ a "safe, conservative portfolio" So I honestly think sometimes when people go to an finacial advisor or planner they will be like "Well I can handle some risk but I don't want anything too risky ; I would rather play it safer then take a whole lot of risk" To a finacial planner that probably means like 40% bonds the minium and maybe even a tilt to value stocks or large cap value for added safty Well to reddit a safe ultra conservative portolio is 100% VOO So I see this all the time "I went to my finacial planner and said I wanted a safer more conservative portfolio and they put me in 40% bonds and I underperformed VOO"
Risk is significantly higher, even buying the biggest companies in the world that you are. If you buy individual stocks, it should be a small percentage of your portfolio, less than 20%, to limit the risk. Not only do you have to pick the correct individual companies, but you have to get the timing right of buys and sells. It's very difficult to get all three right. The diversified ETFs like SPY or QQQ already have significant exposure to APPL and AMZN in them, plus the benefits of owning hundreds of other stocks. Apple is up 2% over the last 12 months, and SPY is up 23%. Apple is up 3% over the last 24 months, and SPY is up 17%. Are you buying Apple to get less than money market returns intentionally? Apple also has declining revenues, no new meaningful product launches for last several years. My point is that people are great at recognizing which companies to buy 2 years ago or 5 years ago. But they can't go back in time to make those buys. People aren't good at picking which stock to buy for the next 2 or 5 or 10 years. Good luck to you! Perhaps you'll be the exceptional person to beat the market.
What's the point of being 35% QQQ and 15% TQQQ? That adds up to 80% QQQ which you accomplish by just doing 27% TQQ. Same with UPRO and VOO, you're at 55% VOO which you could accomplish with just 18% UPRO. You have the right idea in your last portfolio by having TMF. If you're going to be this heavily leveraged, you need a risk management strategy.
why spend extra on SQQQ calls when you can get puts on QQQ? huh?
When will be the next +2% day on QQQ and who will be there with the 10 bagger calls ![img](emote|t5_2th52|12787)

I am tracking daily max pain for SPY and QQQ, here are my observation: Date: market close 0416 (SPY@503.53): SPY0419 exp: max pain: 505, PCR: 2.77 Date: market close 0417 (SPY@500.55): SPY0419 exp: max pain: 500, PCR: 2.61 Date: market close 0416 (QQQ@431.10): QQQ0419 exp: max pain: 435, PCR: 1.68 Date: market close 0417 (QQQ@425.84) : QQQ0419 exp: max pain: 430, PCR: 1.40 Max pain is being dragged downwards and PCR coming down Another point is SPY max pain is lower/equal to market close on 04/17, while max pain for QQQ is higher than market close on 04/17 I don't really know how much max pain predicts future direction or how reliable it is. Anyone who knows can comment
Exactly! If anything, I would rather put my money on QQQ and 'chill' than be content with a messily 10% ROI. I been doing DIS, it was my latest big winner. I caught it while it was getting 'canceled' last year, alongside TGT, and both have performed incredibly well. Not selling anytime soon. We will definitely keep learning and improving. People that like to settle hate seeing others win, which is why they try to rationalize their own incompetence through 'averages'.
I've done the backtesting, and a dollar cost average approach to QLD (2x) outperforms both QQQ and TQQQ (3x) over the long term. I have been DCAing long into QLD since 2022 and it's amazing.
Wait, TQQQ *calls*? I don't believe that actually significantly increases your return over QQQ calls.
And down 3% premarket at least in spite of nice earnings… Yeeeaahhhhh, if this isn’t bought at open, then QQQ is gonna finish dropping its way toward its November 2022 ATH at some point, just maybe not right away (probably more in May). Also worth posting: if QQQ falls meaningfully below that ATH, not just by a couple percent, it had an important top that will stick for a while.
Can you image if TSM went red while QQQ had a +1% day ![img](emote|t5_2th52|4271)
QQQ gonna make new highs faster than ppl expect
Forget shit TSM which will prob be blood red at open, QQQ futes up .65% ![img](emote|t5_2th52|4271) 💹💹
QQQ calls at open or naaa?
Nah if imma gamble I’ll go QQQ 433c tomorrow 100 cons. We may reverse tomorrow or Friday leading up to big tech earnings
If I had more buying power I def would’ve doubled down on my -80% calls today on QQQ Thankful for the unsettled cash 💀💀
Well crypto is a risk on asset and usually follows the QQQ which makes sense cause crypto is like a tech stock. We all understand the reasons why btc should go up but at the end of the day investor sentiment is far more important than any of the reasons you can come up with . Even with less supply, money still has to inflow for prices to go up and with high inflation, rates and increasing geopolitical tension price growth can be a little shaky rn.
How the fuck is costco the 8th biggest component of QQQ.
You need to chill wait tonbuy the QQQ, get a job and continue to buy the QQQ until you 50 👍 game plan activated...
Does my QQQ 430 calls have a chance tomorrow ![img](emote|t5_2th52|18630)
