I'm trying to decide between these 4 stocks that I've shortlisted, after reviewing their financials and investor presentations. MVST, battery tech and looks like they are on the brink of bankruptcy. HIMS, consumer healthcare. Very little moat but getting good growth numbers. INDI, automative semiconductors. This one looks promising but don't really know much about the product. FLNC, battery tech. Just found this in this thread. Looks like the least riskiest of the 4.

You have to be really careful with small caps. I am long on MVST and HUMA, but they’re the only small caps I hold.
Also if you want to outperform market you can always find cheap and promising stocks to buy, but risk as you understand is higher. I can name a couple of from what I'm buying but please don't take it as a financial advice, do your own research and consider price I bought or going to buy is different what it is now. Yep, everyone thinks average down is a good thing. I had this debate many times on these boards. Once I lose 15-20% of my original investment dollars I am out and rarely do I look back as it told me I missed something. I have only average down twice in my life - AMD @ $2 (sold along the way and still hold 1000 shares) and my second one is on-going MVST with an average of $1.80/share.
SPWR -86% (but I cashed out 2021 so probably break even) SLDP -77% MVST -75% MAXN -67% ARKK -60% VWDRY -18% F -18% ICLN -26.14% FAN -13% TAN -7% GBTC -6% Total -53% average on my individual stock picks, -10% on ETF picks. You can probably pick up on a theme... investing in clean energy (losers) and hail mary battery tech startups while big oil is squeezing out record profits. Anyhow, lesson learned! Not too painful since I'm still in my twenties, could have been worse!
Not saying it will, but it would be interesting to see Microvast MVST actually make it as a domestic battery maker. A more realistic view is for ENPH to shake off this bad quarter, if rates do indeed stay contained, that steep order problem could bounce back as quickly as it dropped. Stock was $350 one year ago and $72 earlier this month. Based on those boundaries alone, $200+ wouldn't seem that crazy if the order situation firms back up.
I’d say neither, because there’s simply better options in other sectors. MVST is going to be my big winner next year!
The safe bet: throw some into an index, some into a good div/value stock like KO, and some into other blue chips like Dis or AAPL. The wild bet: Toss some of that shit into MVST. Company will be worth at least triple what it is now or bankrupt in the next 1.5 years. Do your own due diligence.

They’re finishing their battery manufacturing here in Clarksville, TN and should begin production in Q1/Q2 of 2024. The risk/reward on this one is insanely asymmetrical.
