GMAB is best down and their oncology products + pipeline is legit GILD owns the HIV market for the most part and acquired an oncology company a couple years ago. Their sales will be booming for a while. Just broke out and probably going to new highs (no target just buy and hold forever) Halozyme makes oncology drugs formulated for subcutaneous injection … nobody wants to sit in an infusion chair … only going up. Buy and hold Takeda is the sleeping giant of Japan and is just a great company. Beat down and has dividend. Buy and hold. Editas is gene editing company that’s beat way down. It’s more speculative but I’ll take the bet. Merck I just think sucks lol. Fuck Merck. They just totally screwed scynexis who has a very promising antifungal that is going to invade their space.

It's still at a good price to purchase some shares. Now that BARDA gave them upwards of 300M dollars to develop their product, and today, the FDA gave them a new "Breakthrough Designation", coupled with an expanded 100M subjects to test the medicine, coming from the 50M they had previously (just a few weeks ago)... Plus, the push from the FDA to approve this medicine ASAP, before the seasonal flu kicks in... Yeah... Everything points to an increase in price of each share even higher than the original price around the company's IPO, 10 years ago, of around 350$ a share... And regarding a potential buyout (which is very possible, bearing in mind what usually happens with these smaller companies, when they develop something as groundbreaking as this)... Well... If we consider the IPO's evaluation as a starting point, around 350$... And bearing in mind how lucrative this business is... We might see each share, after an FDA approval and mass production/distribution of this drug around the US - and if Cidara doesn't decide to dilute their shares until there - of around...well...this is just speculative, obviously, but around 600/700 dollars each share wouldn't be that farfetched... This would make Cidara worth, let's say... Between 10 and 15 Billion dollars... And considering that, for example, Gilead Sciences, has an evaluation of around 147 Billion dollars... A potential buyout from a company such as this one, would (in theory) happen for much more than Cidara's evaluation at the time... Let's say Cidara's value is at 15B flat. If a company like Gilead decided to buy Cidara, while keeping Cidara's infrastructure intact... Well...just like any business, Cidara could, theoretically, ask for 25/30/40 Billion dollars for said buyout - this is totally normal, since no company would want to sell themselves for the price they're evaluated at that time and, instead, would extrapolate their value based on their potential and future upside. If something like that were to happen, then you could see your investment double just because of said acquisition, and your CDTX would be converted into (in this hypothetical reality) GILD stocks - with the ×2 of the acquisition already in mind. So yeah.. I first came across this project around 3 months ago, and decided to purchase several of their shares at around $50, after doing some exhaustive investigation regarding their project. And since, at that time, I saw so many green flags regarding their project and their potential growth in the medium term, I've decided to purchase a good amount of shares at $50 each... And...yeah, best decision of my life, I'm sure of that... So...even at $110, based on every single narrative going around at the moment... Investing in their shares is a freaking no brainier!!!

is GILD worth it? Q2 seems to be strong

r/stocksSee Comment

Anytime a pharma "growth story" starts to slow and there's nothing compelling in the pipeline for the immediate future, you see a re-rating to a degree that most investors aren't used to. You saw it with GILD in the mid 2010's after the Hep-C drugs started to slow - went from a hot stock to cratering and then taking 10 years to get back to prior highs. Moderna has round tripped all the way back to early 2020 levels. Novo's patent on semaglutide starts to expire in 2026. Giant generic pharma co Sandoz has already talked about the GLP-1 opportunity in generics. NVO's Cagrisema didn't get the reception hoped and given the nature of it it's more expensive to produce. So foreign markets will start to have generic competition starting next year and unless there's a v2.0 drug, they're going to face more competition beyond just LLY. There's been tons of posts about this company that act like nothing's wrong and yet they fired the CEO the other week. People keep saying tariffs and that's an issue but it's not the key issue here. This is what it looks like when a pharma/biotech growth story re-rates, time and time again. NVO got overdone to the downside in the 50's/60's, but it's going to take some considerable good news for a sustained move higher. https://www.fiercepharma.com/pharma/eli-lilly-overtaking-novo-nordisk-diabetesobesity-market-analysts ("Eli Lilly is overtaking Novo Nordisk in the diabetes, obesity market: BMO analysts") https://www.pharmavoice.com/news/eli-lilly-novo-nordisk-compound-glp1-earnings/747046/ ("Lilly revealed in a first-quarter earnings report last week that it now has a 53% share of the GLP-1 market, overtaking Novo for the first time") https://qz.com/novo-nordisk-eli-lilly-ozempic-zepbound-weight-loss-1851782626 ('How Ozempic maker Novo Nordisk fell behind Eli Lilly in the weight loss drug race") https://www.reuters.com/business/healthcare-pharmaceuticals/view-wegovy-maker-novo-nordisk-ousts-ceo-competition-obesity-drug-market-heats-2025-05-16/ ("Novo Nordisk CEO's surprise exit after setbacks in weight-loss market: Reaction") https://www.theguardian.com/business/2025/may/07/wegovy-maker-novo-nordisk-cuts-profit-forecast (Wegovy maker Novo Nordisk cuts profit forecast as US prescriptions tail off: Slowdown will deepen concerns Denmark’s biggest company is losing market share to US rival Eli Lilly") etc etc etc. There have been posts for a few months now with people acting like the decline is 100% unjustified which is perplexing. It's a decent value in the low 60's, but people who buy it and expect it to moon tomorrow and completely rebound/re-emerge as the growth story it was a year ago are going to be disappointed.

One of my first personal stock picks was GILD because they did cure Hep C, the stock proceeded to do nothing but cuck me for 5+ years after

Mentions:#GILD
r/stocksSee Comment

There is a history in healthcare/biotech where the moment that people think growth is slowing/going to slow in the near-term, people flee the stock in a manner that many investors aren't used to. There's plenty of examples of it, the biggest one that I often use is GILD, which was the hottest stock for a couple of years off Hep-C in the 2010's. The moment that that started to slow, the stock headed South, they threw billions in buybacks and it kept going South. It didn't get back to the prior high until 10 years later. Moderna stock is all the way back to where it was in March 2020, losing everything and then some from when the vaccine was announced later in 2020. Lilly is leading in obesity and NVO's Cagrisema isn't the 2.0 drug that people were hoping it would be. Plus, it's more expensive to make. Novo didn't dump its CEO because everything was going great and the stock market just doesn't understand how awesome it's doing. It's not "over" for Novo and hopefully their new CEO turns things around a bit but people buying it as if it's still the growth story it was a year ago, no - they lost the lead to Lilly. The stock got overdone in the upper 50's/low 60's, bounced and now needs more positive news to have a sustained bounce.

> Comparing NVO to GILD/MRNA isn’t correct. I wasn't comparing and stated as such. I'm simply noting that healthcare investors are very, very unforgiving when there is not a next big thing in the pipeline - *whether obesity or otherwise* and there are plenty of examples of that. "And they don’t exactly need a “what’s next” drug" The stock has lost 51% in the last year. Yesterday: "Novo Nordisk shares fall as obesity pipeline faces investor scrutiny" (https://www.reuters.com/business/healthcare-pharmaceuticals/novo-nordisk-shares-fall-obesity-pipeline-faces-investor-scrutiny-2025-06-23/) "I’m long on both NVO and LLY" Good luck to you. Am long LLY.

r/stocksSee Comment

I think a lot of your points here don’t have much merit, and I’ll explain why: 1. Comparing NVO to GILD/MRNA isn’t correct. GILD was making a drug for hepatitis C? How many people do you know that have hepatitis C? Now how many people do you know that are obese? For MRNA; of course there was going to be a major decline because you only need one Covid vaccine +/- the occasional booster. 2. NVO has the patent in America, along with LLY until 2028 or 2030 (can’t remember which). The point is, they are still the only two players for at least three years. 3. Early bird gets the worm: NVO and LLY were first to market, they already have the brand recognition. And they don’t exactly need a “what’s next” drug when you have the patent for multiple years. If LLYs drug gives 5% more weight loss but it’s twice as expensive, there will still be plenty of people taking Ozempic. It’s not like there can only be one effective weight loss drug that owns the whole market. It was disappointing to see the HIMS contract fall through but there are still tons and tons of people on Ozempic and that will continue to take it. They pay a healthy dividend, good PE ratio right now, my bet is it is back to $100 by EOY. I’m long on both NVO and LLY. For at least the next 1-2 years while they have the patents.

r/stocksSee Comment

"Do you think it is undervalued at the moment and that market overreacted?" Upper 50's/low 60's was a bit much but people have this view that "everything's great" and it's just not the case imo. Semaglutide starts going off patent in other countries next year and Cagrisema has not been the obesity 2.0 follow-up that was wanted/needed. Lilly has pulled ahead in obesity. I think people don't understand that the healthcare sector - perhaps more than any other sector - puts an enormous focus on "what's next?" If there isn't something compelling, or the next thing is disappointing - people flee in a manner that investors often aren't used to. I mean, GILD was a hot stock for a couple of years because their purchase of Pharmasset lead to their very successful Hep-C drugs. When that started to slow and GILD didn't have a compelling answer to "what's next?" people sold. The company did huge buybacks and the stock kept tanking. It took a decade for the company to reach prior highs. I think NVO in the upper 50's or so was overdone but there are real issues that people are ignoring/downplaying. People on here in 2023 kept going on about buying PFE because it was cheap and had an obesity drug too. The drug failed, they tried an oral formulation and that had poor results too. I think too many people have this view as if there's no moat in drugs and why can't everyone be obesity drug winners. It's just not the case and with NVO being less diversified than LLY it's even more important that they continue to get everything right - and they have not.

She bought all these on June 4th, reported them yesterday, and spent somewhere between $1k-$15k for each one NFLX NOW NEE GILD AMAT ADBE SNOW

Significantly depends on the kind of addressable audience, how much the stock has run up into approval, how much is it going to take (for a company already going through $) to get to launch, what is broader sentiment in biotech (generally varying degrees of bad for a while, especially given continued higher rates), etc etc etc. There's so many factors, it's not just approval = x%. I've owned a number of biotech names and have done reasonably well (have had 3 buyouts this year alone), but it's a very hard sector to do well in and much harder to do consistently well. There's also so much focus on whether something gets bought out or not; you can have an approval and still have a smaller company mismanage things. Few people are hoping that their biotech is the next Regeneron because very, very few biotechs become the next REGN (or VRTX, or ARGX another example) - the good stuff is mostly picked over by big pharma when they need to refill their pipeline. Also, too many people pile into micro cap biotechs because they told a good story and then it turns out to be less/a lot less than advertised. It's a lot easier (at least IMHO) to buy things that are already on the 50 yard line and you think have a reasonable chance of touchdown or at least a kicking a field goal. That said, if something that a lot of people think might be a buyout candidate even hints that's not happening anytime soon, people flee in a manner that I don't think many investors are used to. With healthcare in general, I think that it's very much "what's next" and if there isn't something compelling on deck then you see selling like NVO, or GILD around 10 years ago going from a very hot stock to something that didn't see the highs of the mid 2010's again until recently. Overall, I have materially less in biotech than what I started the year with.

Perhaps it depends on one’s strategy. In 90s I was all about buy and hold and buy the dips, etc. Then dot com taught some hard lessons. Preserving capital is important. Using TA to know the trend, and using simple indicators to know when to buy or sell takes the emotional bias out of the decision. Usually I’m fully invested in index ETF and select equities. Since 1/1 I’ve moved to cash and high yield bond funds. Those dividends make a nice monthly plunk! Glad to be holding on to GILD. What’s this? New highs on a down day? Nice trendline. This works for me. I mention it here for the benefit of all young investors. I have an aversion to the “…. for Dummies” book series. So unfortunately, I can only just buy stocks like brk.b, aapl and amaz and hold to make money. I did buy some Reddit stock that was doing pretty well but lately it's down like 10-15 percent from recent highs. Just gonna hold it and wait. Got in at 136. Did they just make an unregistered sale of Shares on feb 12th? Yes 2. Are they at risk of being delisted? Yes (But when you’re busy in the lab advancing cancer treatment developments who has time for annual meetings?) ——all jokes aside…But with only 7 employees maybe they need to hire an 8th just to keep the annual meeting. Also there are compliancy issues with the minimum Market Value of Listed Securities requirement (this means According to Nasdaq listing requirements, the minimum "Market Value of Listed Securities" is typically $15 million. Meaning that OCEA must have a total market value of its publicly traded shares worth at least $15 million to be listed on the Nasdaq. Financials are not great but I thought this was a place to talk about Penny Stocks (that haven’t run up 100% + yet) ([https://www.investing.com/news/sec-filings/ocean-biomedical-reports-unregistered-equity-sales-93CH-3866151](https://www.investing.com/news/sec-filings/ocean-biomedical-reports-unregistered-equity-sales-93CH-3866151)) 3) Is this company even real, with reliable leaders? Yes. Let’s just start off by saying Dr Michelle M Berry (yes a real Doctor not just a suite) has been doing this for a while and doing it well. ([https://www.bizjournals.com/triangle/print-edition/2015/05/22/life-sciences-m-michelle-berrey.html](https://www.bizjournals.com/triangle/print-edition/2015/05/22/life-sciences-m-michelle-berrey.html)) She’s super qualified with decades of experience, spearheading companies like Pharmasset VRUS which was acquired by GILD for 11 Billion. CMRX which is now trading @ $4.39 where she worked her way UP from Chief “MEDICAL” officer to CEO ([https://www.oceanbiomedical.com/michelle-berrey](https://www.oceanbiomedical.com/michelle-berrey)) Did they really have breakthroughs in Cancer Treatment options, to suppress tumor growth and progression, specifically Lung Cancer? Yes. ([https://drug-dev.com/ocean-biomedical-announces-breakthrough-findings-in-egfr-mutant-lung-cancer-plans-for-fda-alignment-on-next-stage-development/](https://drug-dev.com/ocean-biomedical-announces-breakthrough-findings-in-egfr-mutant-lung-cancer-plans-for-fda-alignment-on-next-stage-development/)) 4) Do they need to need to make an announcement to regain momentum? Yes. (But in all fairness, do they care about day traders, “Paper-Hands & swing traders? Probably not). 5) Did I take some profits? Yes. 6) Am I buying the dips? Yes 7) Would I yolo into this? No 8) Is this the only Biotech Stock in my portfolio? No 9) Is this the best Biotech Stock in my Portfolio? No A lot depends on their next few press releases. This is an a no-nonsense company with Experienced leadership, they don’t Tweet, even tho I wish they would…..They just get the job done. As far as the RS: According to recent filings, Ocean Biomedical (OCEA) is considering a reverse stock split, with the possibility of implementing it before the end of 2025, although the exact ratio and date have not been officially announced; the decision will likely depend on shareholder approval and the company's efforts to maintain compliance with stock exchange listing requirements. MGO was also doing a RS and was facing delisting but was also haulted last week for shooting past $115 There’s a lot to consider here, so in the words of Mike Colvin “Exciting stuff if it all pans out.” https://preview.redd.it/mg5c6twx0dje1.jpeg?width=1290&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=68860d6ba308435efdb229b775c5e04e075ae1ab

I really like your portfolio, especially how you're getting some international exposure in some of the few companies worth having a position in. You are a little too heavy in tech imo. I'm not sure I would sell any of your existing positions there, but I wouldn't add any more to them without first investing into another sector. Personally, I would choose an industrial or consumer defensive stock. I'm also not a fan of UNH. I would replace it with a pharma giant like PFE, GSK, or GILD. Alternatively, maybe some sort of real estate like DLR, AMT, or PLD.

In general, if the stock is trading below the 50 day moving average you probably want out. The test is whether or not the average is rising or flat. As long as it keeps make new highs, stick around. If it closes below the 50 day a second time without a new high that would be a sign of distribution. If you like a stock like $GILD or $BMY, you can wait a year for it to "come in" and then AVERAGE UP. One the authority of Paul Tudor Jones: Losers Average Losers.

Big pharma. lots of spec around GILD and MRK. The compound from ALT is best in class for lean mass preservation setting it aside from 1st gen weight loss drugs. More DD on r/altimmune or look up Stocktwits user BTECHINV

Not to mention 32% short interest and $600m market cap. Thing is primed on really good MASH data too. I’m not surprised GILD would seek partnership with them.

I'm just a degenerate gambler. If this were my portfolio, and if this is not in an IRA, I would sell all those in the red to offset some profits before the end of the year and get into some solid and boring stuff, like CASY, maybe GILD, HD, Costco, maybe some SBUX or some stocks that have dropped greatly and have potential to recover, like SNOW and NIKE. What about some SYK, since you like health stocks? Personally, I just made like 600%+ on RKLB options, have SNOW options and hope we get a good earnings call, and I think I own all the stocks I just mentioned. I'm waiting to buy some NIKE options on a red day to get a good price and maybe sell when it's up 50% or something. Only put like 15% max of what you have in really volatile stuff, put the rest in boring stuff. I have AVGO too, still looks good to me. I still have a bunch of NVDA, but I bought it cheap years ago for like $20. At this point, I wouldn't buy so much until after a dip. After this bull run we've had, I also think maybe we could get a drop, but who knows, right? I would keep some cash money just in case.

if you like ABBV, check out MRK, GILD, BMY, PFE, and SNY, all better fwd p/e, better p/b, etc.

What about Gilead (GILD), they have a new HIV prevention which is 98% effective.

Once this rollover to my self managed IRA hits I’m going balls deep in HALO, GMAB, SCYX, GILD … and GME 1/2026 ITM calls. All I need is one more dumb pump over 15 months and I’m rich

r/wallstreetbetsSee Comment

I’m a pharmacist, PFE is a terrible bet. Cut that shit If you wanna buy calls go with Gilead or Takeda and long dated If you want something trading low, BIIB is 52 week low and also SCYX is a penny stock I like a lot (have been buying since $10 lol). If you want blue chip go with GILD or TAK. If you had the capital and balls of steel I would say buy puts on Lilly for December at $800 strike

r/wallstreetbetsSee Comment

Bahahaha. I’ll probably throw $20k at GameStop LEAPS and just wait for a super volatile week to unload a 4-5 bagger. Then buy some scynexis shares with $5-10k cuz it’s a beat down penny stock with promising antifungal drugs I believe in and think it’ll get bought out. Eventually move to Takeda and GILD as blue chip dividend stocks and diversify out some later when the account is large enough

Those are actually companies with < 10% EPS past 5 years, I was mistaken. But the list for < 10% EPS over the next 5 years is 2x longer, but regardless, these lists mean nothing. Here’s some with the EPS that you mentioned: - SCHL (scholastic) - GILD (Gilead) - NOK (Nokia) - KTOS (kratos defense) - CLX (clorox) - ENR (energizer) Again, this evaluation method of yours is meaningless
