My regarded predictions based on absolutely nothing: SBLK will break $30 by 3/22/25 GOGL will hit break new 52wk high by q3 ASC will trail both

That's what it is. I am also beating market lately because most of my money lies in Tech like MSFT,GOGL,AMD, AMZN and such. However my best % return is on Rolls Royce since I bought it for $1.3 as a Christmas gift for myself few years ago. xD

IINN - $4.77 in 2021 and now at $1.8. So you’ve held very short term if it’s only gone up. GOGL - $121 in 1997 while it’s at $14 now. Yeah, looks great. After Covid it did great. But prior it was a shit stock. But obviously after Covid it was great due to shipping cost. So most investors stay away as it’s a short term play.

Well let’s take a look… Meta trading at historically low valuations to PE and FCF Same with AMZN APPL definitely is trading higher but..one could argue they get a higher valuation cause they are considered a service oriented company now NVDA is trading high but when there doubling earnings YoY and their recent quarter is almost all their revenue from last year. GOGL forward PE of 21 trading high maybe TSLA..this one always confused me so no comment Anyways we saw this year the magnificent 7 carrying all the S&P gains. Most of the market is still down bad. SPHD down 9% YTD, Russel up 2%, oil companies all down, fin tech is all down, consumer discretionary all down. If tech didn’t have a shit year in 2022 causing this big rebound then the S&P would 100% be down or flat

NVDA, TSLA, GOGL, META all green. As soon as Appl gets to green tech is going to explode up today.

Just food for thought, there's a lot of uncertainty in the market right now with it starting to look like people have been unduly optimistic about how much/how long the Fed will be raising interest rates and keeping them high. Unless you're dead set on getting that whole 5k into the market right now, I'd suggest spreading it out more. Maybe spend 1k now, then put in 500 every 2 weeks until the remainder of the original 5k is fully invested and then go to 500 a month. (I'm moderately bearish on the market right now, so if you disagree and think we've seen the worst, obviously this strategy won't be for you.) As for where to put it, you've got to do your own research of course, but personally, I agree with what I saw some others saying about straight S&P500 ETFs not giving you great broad exposure; they're heavily weighted toward tech growth stocks. I like VIG over VYM for a high-dividend ETF. I have some shares of it and am planning to buy more when it gets to a bit better of a price point, but either is a viable dividend strategy. For broader ETFs, I like IJR to get small-cap exposure, and there is reason to think small-caps will outperform if we do have a recession or one that lasts longer/goes deeper than is currently expected. IJH focuses on mid-caps, so you could split between, for instance, VOO, IJR, and IJM to sort of cover your large-, mid-, and small-cap bases. (I own some IJR, no VOO or IJM.) Of the dividend stocks you listed, the only one I own that I'd recommend investing in is ARCC. (I do own some VZ, but I wouldn't buy more myself.) For really great dividends, you could look at bulk ocean carriers like SBLK, GOGL, or ZIM. (I own shares in all three.) All have dividends at or over 20%. They got over-valued for a while and have been suffering price-wise, but that trend has recently abated and I think they're good long-term investments.

I'm heavily into stocks. You win some and lose some. My biggest winner has been buying FLNG (LNG Sea freighter) in the run up the Ukraine War. I thought tensions with Russia would lead to Europe importing more LNG by sea long-term to reduce their dependence. I was looking for a 3-4 year boom market in an industry with heavy barriers to entry and really delayed capacity build up. Did not expect what happened, but it was also a deliberate hedge. Rather irrationally FLNG tanked after the War started. I've been kicking myself for not buying more, but I assumed the market had to know something I didn't. My hedge wasn't behaving as it should. More fool to me on that - it's up 60% from when I bought and 80% from the post-War drop (excluding dividends) - I should have doubled my stake then but second-guessed. My other big winners (some late 2021) are ET, ED, and GOGL. More losers than winners though. I'm not up anymore this year. I don't think there is useful guidance among this.

One of my favorites is AVYA. No dividend, but stable up and down money pump. For dividends, my go-to is usually; SELF, EAD, & GOGL. 3 different sectors, each going up and down a different times. Hope this helps

Check out GOGL, SBLK, GAIN, PVL 2 shipping plays with dividends over 30% Gain has a monthly dividend of .8 cents or 7.51% and has been increasing for last 10 years. PVL owns a bunch of oil wells and they own the royalties from oil that is sold. They have been increasing the monthly dividend for the past 10 years as well. Currently .5 cents per share a month.

>Everyone needs to lose their ass on share price before they understand the wisdom of dividends. This is hilariously myopic. I have had several investments in companies that filed for bankruptcy over the past 13 years. 100% loss. I'm also handily beating the market over the past 13 years because I know to diversify and buy and hold. And my returns are wildly outpacing your dividend payers you listed. In fact, any person who smartly invested in SPY or QQQ instead of IEP, GOGL, ARR, MFA, or OXLC have not only collected dividends but their investments is actually worth exponentially more. Why? Because those dividend payers are also market trailers. ARR and MFA have lost almost 50% of their shareholder investments in just the past 3 years. Sure, $10,000 in ARR 3 years ago would've netted you \~$2,000 in cash dividends and you'd get rewarded with a market value of $4,000 now. $6,000 out the door for $2,000 in cash. Neat. If you're going to be a dividend investor, at least look for companies that have a good track record of retaining or appreciating your initial investment. Just looking at the payout % and not their history is a great way to lose your ass on share price, which some of yours have.

DAC and GOGL collapsed after IPO but still manage to pay out very high dividends many years later. HLAN and MSC pay out lower dividends, that's why the share price is climbing. The cycles are caused by dividend payouts which is nothing to be scared about. Where do you think the dividend cash is coming from?

r/wallstreetbetsSee Comment

The past two years doesn’t matter. You don’t buy stock cuz they’ve made money in the past without thinking about the future. It’s a very cyclical industry Any stock that has a dividend yield over 10% is basically automatically a major flag to me. It shows that shareholders are doubtful that the payout will continue DAC and GOGL have collapsed in the past I haven’t seen any ipo that goes up 5x be able to maintain those gains. Virtually all of these bubbles collapse I’m not shorting it but it’s way too risky for me to think of touching it on the long side
