This is not true lol. If OP buys any bond they'll lock in a yield. Except they don't want to buy just one bond, they should buy an ETF. E.g. if they're looking to make a down payment in Jan 2029, buy a mix of IBHH, BSCS, and IBTI for diversified credit risk that has a very predictable rate of return, is ultra-liquid, and doesn't have the 0 duration problem that money market funds have.
