I don't believe in the thesis that we are running out of oil. We are only scratching the surface of the earth with oil exploration. As drilling technology advances over time, it becomes profitable to access oil deposits that were previously considered to be sub-economic. VGENX is multi-sector and multi-cap. So you can set it and forget it.

I have 2 nephews, age 1 and 2. My sister has 5k and 10k each respectively. I have a vanguard account that I use for myself for some mutual funds and individual stocks. My sister was asking me to invest that money in a manner that would allow incremental investments (Birthdays, Windfalls, etc.) She would like it to be used not only for college but for a more general fund for them when their older, likely when they are 18. Should I create 2 more brokerage accounts in my Vanguard account and invest in VTSAX, VTIAX, VGENX? Or would it be more advantageous for them to create their own accounts and do so on their own? What would my tax exposure be if I had any?
