> VSEQX No, it's an actively managed fund with a higher expense ratio. Don't try to split your large cap from the small and mid. Just sell whatever large cap funds you have and buy VTI (indexed, not actively managed, lower expense ratio) or some other total US market fund. No, don't put bonds in your taxable brokerage account. They should ideally all live in a tax advantaged accounts. It's not tax efficient to hold them in taxable brokerage account.

Thanks. I think I like VSEQX for the Roth and will buy bond funds with my brokerage account?

24 year old I currently have this mix of mutual funds and stocks, but I think there is a lot of overlap and I should probably consolidate. Thoughts? Here is my mix. 15% VEXPX 14% VSEQX 26% VWNFX 44% VTI in 5-7 years I'll have to cash out some for a down payment on a house. I invest 35% of my take home pay.

If you wanted to truly do this, you're probably better off letting professionals do it. https://www.google.com/finance/quote/VSEQX:MUTF?window=YTD https://www.google.com/finance/quote/VTI:NYSEARCA?window=YTD Vanguard's strategic equity fund is still down YTD. If you are going to the trouble of doing this you probably don't want to be down at all. Is there still value in doing this short term trading?

We have a Vanguard account for my wife’s Funds. I see a lot of highly rated and cheap funds available. What do you think of doing a mix of index ETFs or funds instead of managed? This is about 1/3rd of our combined funds. Right now it is just VWNAX and VSEQX. We are 63 and 67, I just retired, and my money is well diversified.

$AVUV is pretty popular for what you describe. I'm however in a mutual fund VSEQX, that does this too. XSHQ could also work.
