I’m about 1-3 years out from retirement (56M) and have 2 years of expenses in bonds (currently WPIMRX) in my 401K, but was considering moving to FXNAX, which is how I ended up here. I also have 1 year in a CD ladder, the rest of my retirement is in equities across 401K, Roth & Traditional IRA and taxable brokerage. So, if I were to retire or lose my job tomorrow, I know I have 3 years of expenses in less-volatile buckets should the market crater the next day. It helps me sleep at night.
