First off, thanks all for the warm reception on my original post! I had no idea I’d receive such positive feedback! A few notes: - this is far from perfect. - this is 18/8 (304) stainless steel. I’ve been made aware 316 has superior corrosion resistance to 304. Im going to be doing some more research/testing here. - I am trying to work out - aside from a good hiding place - how to make better security improvements. I know the Allen keys and low profile round bolt heads are a little better than a typical nut and bolt, but I’d feel better with some additional physical layer built in. - I will say to everyone that it’s very important for long term storage of metals that they all be the SAME ALLOY. You do not want to make friends with galvanic corrosion using dissimilar metals - since my original post, I’ve been educated more in terms of 25th word pass phrase usage. - looking also at increasing redundancy into this form of storage without compromising security. I’ve seen some others online discussing the use of three or more of these (similar to RAID 5) and have 2/3rds of the seed phrase on each one. For example, washer stack #1 gets words 1-16, washer stack #2 gets words 8-24, and washer stack #3 gets words 16-24 and 1-8. This way, two out of the three washer stacks are required to access full seed phrase. These of course can be located in three physically distinct locations. So, I’ve addressed a few weak points, ROAST ME! Would love to see some more community feedback. Based on the positive feedback so far, I want to take this to next steps that would result in a more robust physical device while maintaining ease of use, the clean look, and improving further upon redundancy.
