Well, three problems there: - `/etc/shadow` is only readable by root. - QC does not break hashing algorithms - A company linux machine is not your home machine. There is a good chance `/etc/shadow` only contains a local root account, while regular users are authenticated by a different PAM module. Maybe something like kerberos
