Oh they “quote” people do they. The engine inlet and the engine anti-ice system were both certified for the -8 and -9 already, the -7 is the exact same in these systems. This issue was brought to the attention by Boeing, it is self reported. The change is already in the works but takes time, so they’re asking to proceed with a model which by the way is lighter, so the risk is actually reduced as less engine power is needed, which reduces EAI temps. The AD addressed this with an updated checklist. So day “oh a pilot could forget to turn the system off” is like saying they’d forget to bring gear up after takeoff. Extremely unlikely. The natural gas market is MUCH more then just power generation. Natural gas is almost always cheapest in the summer. You could look up some EAI stats and know this isn’t a very strong choice in several minutes.

What is your timeline though? Just last week the EAI put out a bipartisan report that estimates oil will be a large part of our mix out to 2050. Also, I point out the GOP platform because who is running the country changes ever 2-12 years. So basing your long term investments on the current administration instead of a longer horizon is foolish. Based on past history, the GOP will control the house and/or senate in 2-6 years and the Whitehouse in 4-12. That is how this country has worked since FDR.
