Equities? A "value" or dividend fund -- there's a lot of overlap between the two. Less total return than VOO but far less volatile. SCHD has actually outperformed VOO year to date - by a wide margin. Stable return? IBTM, a fixed maturity Treasury ETF that liquidates in Dec. 2032, with a 5.11% annualized Yield to Maturity. Put in $10,000, get out $14,175 on Dec. 15, 2032. Or the TIPs version IBII -- yield is only 2.73% but that's pricing in future inflation adjustments to principal at just 2.3%. I think the inflation adjustments over the next few years will be significantly more than that. An obvious answer is an actual 7 year Treasury Note, but they only sell in increments of $100 (Treasury Direct) or $1000 (brokerage), making DCA difficult. They also throw off coupon interest payments that leave you with uninvested cash sloshing around in your account (unless you buy a zero coupon bond).
Buy a bullet fund like IBTM, IBT\* are dated ETF and liquid, can be count for margin, very good. TLT is just in trouble
