Collectable plates. Pro Tip: Make sure to get the good ones that are on HSN and QVC at 2am with the host that dropped out of Keiser CNA school.

What scenario would it not go mainstream? Considering that for the first time we have trustless settlement of any type of transaction - monetary or otherwise, that improves the security and workflow of almost every industry if used correctly, not to mention the internet evolving to include things like microtransactions, tipping, Web3 is inevitable. Whether or not Bitcoin will be the main transfer of value or Ethereum the main distributed computer I doubt. ETH is like AOL. It worked great until it didn't, and then better options come along. Just like the internet isn't one big network but a collection of smaller networks, we're very quickly moving towards adoption of multi-chain internet systems. A lot of companies use various distributed ledgers and cryptocurrency for transaction and tracking purposes already behind the scenes. Wal-Mart in many countries has been using VeChain for operational transactions for years now. It's almost mainstream, but "smart money" will put out as many articles as it takes to make people think it's failing so they can accumulate. This premise is like being in 1998 and going "I think we're late on this internet thing... the whole world connected with standardized networks? I don't see any use for that, I hope it works but I doubt anyone would use something that makes life easier and opens the door for technologies we couldn't even imagine today" Then with crypto: "I doubt anyone would have a use for networks that run on top of existing protocols and can not only provide secure and uncensorable content but also allow wealth to be distributed to anyone with an internet connection, provide pseudonimity and non-custodial control of transactions from money to messages to business ledgers. Nah, it's a fun idea and all but it just doesn't seem like it's going to take off." Gonna have to disagree with the entire premise here. It's almost mainstream, my 85 year old grandma asked if she should move some stocks into Bitcoin and we've never talked about it, as far as I knew she just fell asleep to HSN every night on the couch yet somehow she's interested in it.
