Looking for a solution to pay a Sri Lankan freelancer via Lightning to LKR

Great question. See if this works: Friend has an uncle who sends him money from Canada to Sri Lanka. Instead of the uncle sending the friend 100 CAD he can send you 0.00085347 BTC. You can then hand the friend 21473.08 LKR. Write everything down so that everyone knows what to expect. You just got bitcoin without any exchange fees, only the blockchain fee and your friend got his money without any fees. Use [coingecko.com](http://coingecko.com) for pricing.

I'm paying an old Sri Lankan man who I don't know. He wants LKR to eat on a weekly basis. He doesn't have the time or luxury to invest or hodl and wait for more adoption. Bitcoin is currently banned in Sri Lanka so he can't spent it easily. So as I asked. Can you recommend an exchange to help him out as he was getting kicked in the guts when I tried sending Swift? Now Binance is doing it.

It was just a statement by the CB of Sri Lanka that Crypto is unregulated, and it is not considered as a legal tender in the country. I guess that's a good thing because their regulated LKR lost their value by twice over from [0.0063 to 0.0031](https://i.imgur.com/SDBpbZz.png) over the span of 5 years. ![gif](giphy|C9vpPtasMxxbMV5HTV)

~25% markup for buying but close to 0% for selling BTC. That means in Sri Lanka you can't buy USD for LKR at the official rate (currently 1 USD = ~365 LKR).

> You should understand that "Everything" is going down. Yes, but BTC is going down much worse. Here's [Bitcoin against the Sri Lankan Rupee](https://www.google.com/search?q=btc+to+lkr&client=firefox-b-d&channel=nrow5&sxsrf=ALiCzsYSyGWucYLgMFuPgyhe4lt9E7kqEw%3A1655629499942&ei=u-auYrqJOY6MseMPjJOI0Ac&ved=0ahUKEwj60uTBlLn4AhUORmwGHYwJAnoQ4dUDCA4&uact=5&oq=btc+to+lkr&gs_lcp=Cgdnd3Mtd2l6EAMyBQgAEMQCMgUIABCABDIFCAAQgAQyBQgAEIAEMgYIABAeEBYyBggAEB4QFjIGCAAQHhAWMgYIABAeEBYyBggAEB4QFjIGCAAQHhAWOgcIABBHELADOgcIABCwAxBDOg0ILhDHARDRAxCwAxBDOgoIABDkAhCwAxgBOgQIIxAnOgsIABCABBCxAxCDAToFCC4QkQI6BQgAEJECOgcIABCABBAKOgoIABCABBCHAhAUSgQIQRgASgQIRhgBUOkDWMwPYIARaANwAXgAgAGPAYgB1wWSAQMwLjaYAQCgAQHIARHAAQHaAQYIARABGAk&sclient=gws-wiz). It's lost 31% of its value against the LKR in this year. Bear in mind, Sri Lanka is undergoing a massive economic crisis, and yet BTC is falling against the LKR.

Lol LKR is up almost 70%. Probably because its so close to LCR. Some times being a smooth brain works out.
