Well the proper term is MRT (Mass Rapid Transit) station but no one’s gonna understand it here haha I think being from a small nation, many Singaporeans have been adept at code switching
I haven't leave yet, just eating snake (boss permitted). Hopefully the gods bless me and stop raining by the time I step out of the MRT!
I just say 6 weeks paid holiday and when a helicopter rescues me from an accident, I pay around 800€. Even when I drove my bicycle backwards after drinking 15 bottles of beer. My mom got heavy backproblems last year. MRT, CT, Rehab, all free, while being paid 80% of her salary without working for half a year (after 3 months it's 63% I think).... and of course you can't be fired when you are sick. That's not the mindset her. My dad used to be a nurse and is getting 2000$ retirement a month. Not a really high paid job over here, but that's fair. Oh and I studied 12 semesters at university and paid a semester fee of 200$. Means, I studied 12 Semester for 2400$. If your parents are poor, you get 900$/month FOR studying and you only have to pay back a max 12 000$ (over 30 years). In our philosophy, the average guy has the same chance to get a degree. University is not for the rich, but for the smart. But I get it, you have your military. Overall, I prefer the mentioned benefits in my country. Work by myself in a unionized company. 35h/ week fulltime. And if I work 35h and 15 min a week, I get the 15 minutes on my time account. Usually I go home on Fridays at 12 and enjoy the weekend. I can't whine tbh.
I remember last time I visited Singapore, I spent a little too much time at a bar and missed the last MRT heading for the airport. The pocket WiFi I was using at the time ran out battery, so I couldn't book Grab or Uber. I decided to just bite the bullet and take a taxi from downtown Singapore to the airport. I was expecting the worst, but when we got to the terminal the meter rang up to just 20 SGD. Considering how extortionate taxi drivers can be in most countries especially when they known you're from/going to the airport, that was honestly not too bad.
