I host meetups in my area, I don’t use my real name opsec is impotant. Keep it tight. I will but rarely do wear subtle bitcoin shirts in public, for instance today at the gym a guy saw my shirt and recognized it ♾️/21,000,000 is all it had on it. We chatted for a second it was harmless he asked about alts I laughed and said nah I’m only in Bitcoin. You should go to meetups and check out what they have going on or use OPA Orange pill app to find people and make one. In public safe places and also keep your opsec tight. Even my friends I’ve known for years in Bitcoin don’t know my real name.
It's a good idea, but the implementation is meh. There's no QR scanning and they charge 0.5% for transfers to non-OPA LN addresses.
Yes, pay to dox yourself! An OPA dev will come here soon to say you can go anonymous and the fee is to keep spammers out. Uh huh... Or pay to find no one in your area. This app is a solution to a problem no one has.
Sharefund on an OPA for 3 months. Could be 0 or 10 bands 😂
Disinfectant *noun* 1. any chemical agent used chiefly on **inanimate objects** to destroy or inhibit the growth of harmful organisms. Examples of disinfectants: Chlorine and Chlorine Compounds Formaldehyde Glutaraldehyde Hydrogen Peroxide Iodophors Ortho-phthalaldehyde (OPA) Peracetic Acid Sodium hypochlorite (Bleach) Feel free to inject any one of this compounds into your body. I’m sure it’s a great way to cleanse oneself of harmful pests.
OPA seems doomed to failure. No way I am spending sats to dox my location and find other people willing to dox theirs. More likely I would pay and find no one in my area. Bitcoiners who don't understand game theory and opsec.
Rumour says 2 OPA members are getting married in October...
Hmm it's possible that it will die I suppose, but again OPA is not trying to be another Facebook or Twitter. Honestly I am glad that it isn't, because I don't use these large social apps. If it dies, I will have enjoyed it while it lasted, if not, I will continue to enjoy the new features rolling out!
Why are you so obsessed with OPA and their business model? If you don't use this app then don't use it - nobody gives a fuck. It's like I would announce and foam over not using knitCompanion bc it costs money...lol
> and I trust at least one of the OPA "advisors" Your mistake, dude. Not to get religious, but there's a quote I like from *The Imitation of Christ* which experience has proven time and again to be true: "Nearly all the trust you place in men is a total loss" If this is true for consecrated religious (the people living in monasteries and convents), it's certainly true for worldlings who worship money. Wish it wasn't so
Yeah IDK if they sell the data, they claim they aren't and I trust at least one of the OPA "advisors" so I choose to give them the benefit of the doubt. However, the only data they have which could potentially be traced back to me is the geopositional if they chose to store it. I made up a fake email and subscribed with bitcoin, so I chose to be as private as possible when I tried it out. But IDK, "don't trust, verify" wins.
> Nostr has no bot/fake account issues um... yes? I've been contacted by fake accounts posing as some "famous bitcoiner", and I see bot spam in comments... Not as much as on xitter, but they exist and it could potentially become worse as the network grows. There's also different threads on different platforms from users complaining about spam and fake users so idk why you say there's no issues. > open sourced yeah I *think* OPA is closed source, Don't know. > has lightning integrated into it OPA has this as well since a while back. > and it doesn't ask for personal info when creating an account Neither does OPA, from the FAQ: > We're Bitcoin maximalists and we take privacy very seriously. You can be as anonymous as you like on OPA, we only verify that you have access to an email address and we don't store any sensitive data. This means you could register shitbox2000@gmail.com and register with that. Then you pay with sats No other information required.
The ultimate goal of OPA is to give a tool for bitcoiners to connect with each other for whatever reasons they like: networking, friendship, dating, etc etc But we're also building Events, where you can create your own event and/or discover nearby events and chat with attendees before, during and after. Lastly, Orange Pages: plebs can find nearby merchants to spend sats and merchants can advertise their product / services to plebs Makes sense?

OPA is the spac that is merging with Forbes. I’ve been buying OPA before this picks up steam. Once word gets out good look buying at this price.
tldr; Binance, the world's biggest cryptocurrency exchange by trading volumes, will make a $200 million investment in Forbes as it prepares to go public via a special purpose acquisition company (SPAC). The investment by Binance will replace half of the $400 million in private placement commitments already announced by Forbes and SPAC company Magnum Opus Acquisition Limited (OPA). The deal is expected to close by the end of March. *This summary is auto generated by a bot and not meant to replace reading the original article. As always, DYOR.*
