100% agree. Do it and do it now. Took a year off twice. Credit cards can be paid off but I draw strength from those years when it gets tough. One of the years I did the PCT a multiple month hiking trip. Bitcoin is amazing but don't sacrifice your personal development over it because it will still be here next year and the year after. Now I have a family and taking a year off for myself is impossible even if I was a billionaire I would miss them too much and be ashamed of myself for missing out on even the small mile stones.
Probably take an honest shot at through hiking the PCT. It would be amazing to do long wilderness treck without having to worry about forfeiting 8 months of income.
I think my goal is a little different, I'd like to have a portfolio big enough that I can live a simple clutter free life and get by on passive earnings. For example, If I could get by on 18k-20k a year, that would be 100K of UST on Anchor Protocol. Maybe walk the PCT or the CDT and know I've got an continuous stream of funds.
Well my long term goal is to walk the PCT. If the portfolio keeps growing and I can get enough passive income from stable coin interest, I'd be living the dream.
