There are different protocols for “L1” data transmission. There’s a ton of them. Serial, TCP, Parallel, USB, PS/2, UART, i2c. Use use the one that is best for what you are trying to accomplish.

UART is not limited to 115200, and the board has 10/100 Ethernet

but they still use UART, that is what I was confused about. The ASICs are using UART as the communication protocol. new work bits -> 64\*8 -> 512 bits time taken to send new work bits? baud rate -> 115200 bits/second 512/115200 -> 4400 microseconds? with this data speed, wont the asics be sitting idle for too long?

>A PC is very fast. There are no UARTs. It's not the 1990s Thanks for your response. So these antminers use a modiified beaglebone (processor speed 1Ghz), and the asic (BM138\*) communicate through UART protocol. Sure, it will be able to generate the merkle roots, and modified midstate and pass it on to the uart, but will the UART's be fast enough to communicate the data to the asics, to avoid any delay (i.e ASIC's sitting idle)
