Can someone with an US Gate.io account please check if the WPAY/USDT pair is available? Can’t find it on the European version, looks like the markets between the both are different?
I’d counter it really depends on what is meant by crypto. Older, high market-cap blue chips shouldn’t have an issue but memecoins and hype projects don’t have enough history which leads to incorrect usage. Ultimately, it’s a line chart with price on the x axis and time on the Y axis. Assuming relatively stable supply then this gives us a demand indicator. For small caps & meme coins the low liquidity and short history mean we don’t really have enough data points to make high-quality statistical observations… but I’d argue that applies to traditional markets as well. I learned about WPAY yesterday for example; it’s only been around since September and has been suffering from NAV erosion since inception so I’d say it’s pretty similar to lots of altcoins. High weekly returns means buyers jumping in and creating positive price action from people chasing quick money while distributions seem to all be return-of-capital so we could sort of say that they have a tokenomics problem of excessive emissions diluting value and likely investors will compound to zero…. I don’t think crypto is THAT different from traditional markets. There are important nuances but especially from an investing standpoint I don’t think we should throw traditional wisdom out the window completely.
