Funny story, but short version - for over a decade I always told myself “this is the year I’m going to figure out the market”…and 2024 just happened to that year ;) It’s all information - just start gathering information! $MVIS for sure. However, I already have a position in $LASE. I was doing research on $CPTN after texting and found a potential arbitrage opportunity - currently at $3.05 but check out this press release from 7/29/24: “Shares of Cepton rose more than 20% in premarket trading Monday after Japan’s Koito Manfacturing agreed to buy the rest of the developer of lidar technology in a deal valuing the company at about $51 million. Cpeton shares were recently up 21% to $3.05 in premarket trading. Koito will pay $3.17 apiece in cash for shares of the San Jose company it doesn’t already own, a 25% premium to Friday’s closing price of $2.53. Koito, an Tokyo-based automotive supplier, already owns a roughly half of Cepton. The deal is slated to close in the first quarter of 2025.”

Buying CPTN (Cepton). Autonomous vehicle LiDAR supplier
Cepton CPTN is on a run back to typical levels of $1-$1.10. They supply LiDAR for autonomous vehicles. With most of their contracts not in production yet, their revenue projections are strong heading into 2024 with production volume ramping up. With the challenges of packaging/integrating a LiDAR within a vehicle and the system integration work, it will be challenging to change LiDAR suppliers after sourcing because of the different size modules. Plus any machine learnings from that specific module after validation has started. CPTN was very cheap at $0.40 and it’s on a run now. Still no options market on Robinhood yet so hoping someone makes that market soon! Decent volume trading it
I see CPTN has a contract with Ford. MVIS has been under the radar but received several RFQs. AEVA touts 4D lidar with camera level resolution. And there are others. I believe lidar is a strong tech to invest in, I'm just spreading the risk.

$CPTN is basically oversold at this point just because it used to be a spac.
This thread is the most grandstanding Twitter FURU shit I've seen, those guys are insufferable. There is no new information in here relevant to the thesis. Float is 2.4m everyone knew this, why is the redemption % even relevant? Nobody is in this play for the company at hand, no shit it's a bad company that's why it's a high redemption low float play. You also must be oblivious to say a 2.4m float can't squeeze. CPTN had a 1.66m float and squeezed higher than any of these other 'mega low floaters' from $8 - 80 in one day. It's about the liquidity of the ticker and how thin it trades. Just my 2 cents from playing just about every one of these since LWAC. Needless to say clueless retail shorts will be piling up. Do with that information what you will.

Bought into CPTN yesterday hoping it would get a sympathy push alongside ANGH and ISPO. It did not work out unfortunately. Out of hindsight, should have waited for Fed meeting first.
Oddly in Jan, seems like the SEC was flying through the s-1 filings. Then there's a massive slowdown in early Feb with only 1 spac s-1 going effective. There's only 2 others spacs that have filed amended s-1's in that time frame and those havent gone effective yet either (NRGV s-1 2/14, s-1/a 3/18 and ANGH f-1 2/14, f-1/a 3/2 ). Only 1 spac in feb has had their EFFECT filing. Then you have the super random ones that seem like they're never going effective like BBAI in Dec, and CPTN in Nov. btw [Spactrack.io](https://Spactrack.io) has a very useful de-spac tool. Obviously it's impossible to know the pace of the SEC, but I'm leaning towards them taking a bit of time to okay or make comments on the latest amendment. Last time I looked at the difference in the s-1 and s-1/a filings was with BKKT b/c I was playing the downside. The differences seemed pretty immaterial with adjustments to the numbers of warrants + some date corrections and that took 1 week to go effective. The SST amended filing has quite a bit more than that. Corrections to warrants but also updating all their financials prob due to the 10-k. A lot of changes to wording. I actually gave up going through it because it was taking too long. Guessing the SEC is scrutinizing any spac filings lately because of proposed new rules w/spacs. But anyone's guess is as good as mine.

Actually, lots of recent deSPACs had big block trades shortly after 4pm. LFLY, SST, ASTR, DAVE, CPTN, SKIL, ARQQ, HLGN, MTTR. Some of those tickers are not optionable so I don't think it was related to MOPEX. Someone suggested it could be index inclusion day, but I haven't verified.
They kind of look like low floaters(ISPO CPTN SKYH) I don't know anything about MTAC (burbon?) or SPAQ But SPAQ already voted - warrants went up 12% You buying before or just watching for tomorrow

Lol at this, sorry pal but it’s not like all the mentioned tickers blasted off independently of each other… everything after ISPO was pure FOMO/hot potatoe passing and these plays are very very high risk. You get stopped out of them super fast and with liquidity as low as with CPTN it’s pure gambling at some point If ISPO didn’t set a precedence and bring back the attention to sympathy plays, many that would have went bottom-fishing in e.g. LFLY, QNGY, QTEK, REVB, GLS, would still be sitting on their bags.
