Delta hedging works in theory... But what's to say the liquidity fairy isn't just selling naked calls with high IV, only for them to expire worthless. There's no guarantee they hedge. I've tested this with numerous stocks, buying high delta calls and did not see the MM buying shares to remain delta neutral. This has occurred in ESSC, TELL, etc... I once bought 10K call contracts in a single day for a weekly TELL play (albeit delta was relatively low, it was still higher than usual due to a pending event) but never saw them hedging in real time or EOD. Yes, I paid 3.5k in fees that day to open that position. I verified this by going through the tape and reconciling with the timing of my purchase. There's theory and there's application. Yes, delta hedging and de-hedging occur, but it's not guaranteed. Great post none the less, upvote from me.
Lost a lot of money on ESSC #2, made a bit on the BBBY squeeze, made some more on SIGA puts and then lost money on SIGA puts.
Well the SI isnt that high and theres no catalyst to push it up? I highly disagree as well as for example BKKT or ESSC both ran up just to mention a few and while MMAT died it did run over 100%. I have no idea what buy low sell high has to do with NEGG nor NEGGs price history. NEGG lacks Gamma OR SI that is high enough to push it upwards and also lacks any catalyst. Appears ESSC got some institution to reverse about 1m of the redeemed shares. That plus rights and that waiver should bring the float to around 2.6m min + whatever wasn’t redeemed initially. What do you guys think of this play? $ESSC rights are currently going for $.50 and the Dec 7.5p for $1.50. If you buy the rights and hedge with puts you would be able to capture the upside if there is a low float pump and would still make money if stock tanks. Biggest risk is if deal is called off in which you will take a 100% loss.

As a regular here for years I disagree. Just gotta pay attention to the subreddit pulse and watch for the occasional coordinated social swarms popping up all promoting a new ticker you've never heard of. PROG, ATER, RDBX, BBBY, ESSC, APRN, TBLT are just a few I can think of that got decent traction here before their climbs finally started. Just gotta treat everything suspiciously as fuck and view every ticker as an opponent trying to find some clever way to rug your ass and take your money and sometimes they'll surprise ya If the shit being plugged has already run 150% the day before it gets your attention then you can just keep browsing and ignore the social hype
BBIG - ATER - NILE - PROG - ESSC - MULN - RDBX - AMC. -(even AVCT on its first run through here at .80) . the list goes on and on... Successful retail squeeze plays that netted people 2-300%+ gains getting squandered because of this "apes must hold" mantra that has been brainwashed into reddit. Everyone of these tickers ultimately bagged a small percentage of this sub and turned them into long term ~~cultists~~ investors because of the retail circle jerk promising a MOASS!. Nobody should enter a squeeze pump play intending to become a long term holder. If you get lucky and get in early you need to be ready to pull the fuck out as soon as the reversal starts or you're just waiting for a rug pull to happen.
But even when the deal is canceled, you still have the THCA, ESSC, BREZ, RAM set up, which has gotten a little bit less popular recently.
ML, PEAR, BKKT, SLDP(on DA announcement) ESSC round 2-4, RAM are just some I remember off the top of my head, there have been plenty more. Even the ones that “took off” weren’t nearly as epic as the ones like IRNT that literal no one in this sub was talking about. For every one that kind of worked out there were at least 5 epic fails
I only mentioned PEAR because you mentioned it. Yes many failed. There were many plays that took off too. ESSC round one, people here were buying calls that ended up 50 baggers etc.
ESSC was never 300K float. I won't dig up the reference for you, but that was always incorrect. Some quick searches of this sub will give you that answer if you need it. As it stands, $BREZ float of 1.6M is indeed the lowest for an optionable SPAC with a floor (ATM). Hence, the excitement - if you call it that.

You are right that they have many positions. Now that you bring it up - it could be they owned GETY as an arb only. I can't make out. Thanks for bringing that up. The stuff around the OPAL FPA and ESSC still stand. It is possible they there are very favorable terms to the FPA, and that is why they took it. It is also possible they saw the possibility to legitimately own nearly the entire free float of a company - at a time small floats have making news for bagging so hard - and they took it on that basis. I am not claiming knowledge / certainty I don't have. It seems like an interesting possibility though.
It seems like ESSC was the first, then THCA, and the trend continues that these pop less and less over time.

Yes, terminated. It's an ESSC/THCA/RAM style play, with by far the lowest float of them (1.69M) with options. It's the low float/gamma squeeze potential. NAV at $10.35 and will be adding 3.5 cents/month for NAV. Pretty nice risk/reward.
If anyones in this game for another ESSC, they're going to be very disappointed. But compounding full port 10% gains with 0 risk can't be beaten.

You can park cash safely for now. There aren't many updates from the company that is being acquired. No sec FILINGS, no nothing. But this doesn't make it much different than ESSC or THCA, which had great moves. It is a pump and dump play, like most NAV spacs. However most of us here have very good entry prices and we are waiting for a pump. I guess it is likely at some point to have the DA being terminated, but if you hold commons this should not frighten you at all. Money will be added to the trust so the NAV increases.

Read one of the ESSC or THCA threads from earlier in the year. A "gamma squeeze" narrative to get attention on the play probably matters more than any sort of actual squeeze itself. We really just need more attention and volume, which opex can help with.
guys, it has to be said but $RAM is NOT a "squeeze play" similiar to $GETY or $FAZE. it's low float, NAV-protected, and there is POSSIBILITY for gamma squeeze if it sees volume. checkout previous $ESSC or $THCA DD if you are unfamiliar with these plays and how they can move

Smaller than THCA and ESSC, the only other low float NAV protected SPACs with options. Both have gotten some upward price movement in the past
People got burned on THCA, doubt they jump back in. In ESSC round one, call sellers blew up on that run to 26. The second pump was more or less a p and d, same for THCA.
This would be a gamma squeeze play. So while there’s not a ton of short interest (yet), market makers will need to hedge for calls in the money. On a float this small, it could be explosive - see ESSC.
If I were you I would check out the chart of ESSC when it had its gamma squeeze.
to me, it is similiar to ESSC and THCA in setup, but with a lower float (and better entries for me personally than when I found both those plays)
I am not sure, but if enough market makers sell calls before next OPEX and the price keeps on increasing, then market makers will have to hedge when they buy shares. Something similar happened in ESSC. And it went easily to 25 dollars.
This basically turns into a gamma ramp setup if enough $10c and $12.50c pile up for 9/16. The appeal is the NAV floor which gives people more assurance and conviction when buying said calls for 9/16. If enough OI piles up mm will need to hedge to stay delta neutral. It’s an extremely fluid situation with a potentially violent upswing if things line up between now and then. This isn’t a play per se but has every possibility of becoming bigger than ESSC and THCA (people reference these because there is an options chain, but this has a smaller float than those two). Lots of potential with “minimal” risk. It’s not a play until it is if that makes sense.

yeah but ESSC and THCA are STILL OUT THERE and equivalent plays and haven't done shit in forever. even after each went through extension votes and some redemptions again. it's an interesting play due to the small downside risk if you get in early, but I think everyone's attention is on lots of other crazy action right now. gety, pgy, bbby and others. not some spac far from merging that isn't actually all that low of a float compared to what we've seen this summer. I think there have been a few with less than a million shares.

I lost 10k in a week with spy, then another a week later and then I lost 4k in 3 seconds trading ESSC while I was half asleep and bought it using funds that didn’t settle and I was literally unable to sell those contracts. Shit is rough, gotta have the balls to lose life changing money before you can make it.

Difference was these were still NAV protected. If I remember correctly the float was also wrongly estimated with ESSC.
ESSC went away as a meme (and as a stock price) without a single new share being added. As did THCA.
