Spy for options, voo for just buy and hold. But your broker may offer an in house one that’s an even cheaper expense ratio. I think fidelity has one that’s called FAIXX or something like that. But you’re kind of splitting hairs at that point. Just adding an extra $20 a year would make a bigger difference till you’re like mid 6 figures.
Speak with a Fidelity rep. You can and should do this. You can open a roth ira for them, the greatest financial gift you can do for anyone. They can use the contributed money without penalty if needed. They can use that and the returns on investment without penalty for school, first home, and serious medical. The money grows tax-free and remains tax-free. Tea has them about S&P500 index funds like FAIXX or VOO. Teach them about today's tech with FBTC and FETH. You 12 year old, if making regular deposits, even small ,they'll be set and eternally grateful for the introduction.
So is all the VOO, VITIX, FAIXX(I know the last 2 probably don't exist, I'm just spit balling off the top of my head) just for fun money? Like investing into a Robinhood account if I wanted to? Or can VOO and VITI type funds be invested into my Roth IRA?
