$HGV - What did I miss? Positions: Long HGV On paper, HGV looks like a good business. EBITDA at around 20-25% of market cap, and stock buybacks around 15% of market cap annually. However the stock has been been mostly breakeven ever since IPO. Am I missing something? Is there some accounting twist, like SBC, that breaks it? Is it the acquisitions? Anyone with positions who have opinions?

It's not a lot. I have 165k GBP liquid at 29 in the UK. Fully estranged from 15yo, and immigrant to the UK from 18yo, so earned/gambled it all myself, and even here in the UK, with no need for medical insurance this is nothing.  University education has not given me any return. Suggesting that redoing it again is a good idea - employers would rather take fresh 22yo graduate, than to take chances, on someone with a weird looking CV To go invest it in vocational training, for example HGV or any profession requiring a lot of driving, is stupid as they hand out prison sentences for mistakes where you didn't drink/did stop/did call for help, but someone has died, so a black swan event could see you in prison and with savings drained as legal help is means tested. Realistically say 165k GBP when modelled is just an extra 500-900 a month over 28 years if draining it to 0.

Nonsense in 2 weeks we will be begging for todays 115 prices will be well north of 150 by then. In two week the Tripoli will be within combat range of Iranian oil refinery island of Kharg. 1 of 2 following will happen both will lead to shocking oil prices. 1. The Tripoli is intercepted somewhere in the Persian Gulf (doesnt need to be the straights) by a fattah 2 HGV and its just game over for that ship, not sunk but is out of action for years. The chances (if a strike is launch) of success are shockingly high for 1, if 2. or launched it ends up being a black swan event and potential capitol ship lost +2200 marines. Uncharted territory if this happens. 2. Iran restrains. Tripoli gets to Kharg Island and takes it over. Iran launch strikes from Kuwait to UAE taking out most if not capacity in the region. Either way US escalation of boots on the ground is coming 1 way or another. The Tripoli had to turn on its transponder in the straight of Malacca this week (Tuesday I think) because of heavy traffic. It will about2 more weeks to get into position somewhere in the Persian Gulf. Working backwards this ship launched from Okinawa roughtly 2 weeks ago. It MUST have been prepared before the war even started. Its all planned.

The company isn’t starting for scratch, they’ve done pre feasibility studies. The mine itself is ready to be mined, but construction work is required I.e. roads need to be paved to support HGV’s, but I agree it won’t be an instant turnaround on it. But higher estimates put it at most, 2 years before operation begins.

I'm (56 year old) normally a fully invested type. I use value/dividend funds as my normal cash/bond equivalents. Normally around 60% SP500 and 40% value/dividend funds like SCHD & HGV. Moved about 40% of my retirement accounts to money market back in mid January. Sitting at 40% SCHD/HGV, 40% money market, and 20% SP500. Missed gains at first caused me some anguish but he past week has made me feel better. So I'm at the exact spot you are inquiring about. When do I start DCAing my cash back in? Kept me awake at night. So here is what I decided. Given my age, I want to swap my "normal". So goal by end of 2025 is 60% value/dividend funds and 40% SP500. Here is what I decided: Each week beginning Monday I will be DCAing 5% of my my current cash back into the market, split evenly between SCHD/HDV and S&P500 fund with the goal of being 100% back in the market by end of year 2025. If anyone knows what date would be the market bottom, give heads up please!

You’re showing how little you know… so tell me what stealth aircraft made by Boeing are in the us military?? As if that even mattered. The newest j20 engine the WS-15 has a service life of half or less than f119 and f135 in the f22 and f35. Also the Chinese navy is still outnumbered by personnel in the US navy about 2-1 even in a recruiting crisis. There’s no set of articles or propaganda pieces that makes a reasonable case for China being anywhere close to US military. They have created some very powerful weapon and weapon systems such as HGV and the j20, but that’s not enough to overpower the other majority of favorables the US has on paper.

HGV? Not sure how Iran’s stack up if they even have one. Probably as hyped as the Russian kinzhal was. Ballistic missiles are predictable, like hamas rockets but much bigger and faster. There’s crazy footage of one blowing up out of atmosphere from a couple hours ago. From the reports I read there were hundred of drones and around 200 ballistic missiles. USAF, RAF, and IDF planes intercepted most before they reached Israel. Couple hits in Jerusalem but most seemed to be wreckage from iron dome interceptions. Iran said that their revenge was completed… Pretty sure Israel will retaliate with US support, so it’s definitely not over yet. All this data gathered from Israeli iron dome usage, air and sea launched interceptions, drones, and signal intelligence in Ukraine is making Uncle Sam rock hard. All the next gen upgraded missiles and tech are getting actually combat proven. Some crazy shit is gonna come out of the NGAD program with AI and loyal wingman.

You obviously can't comprehend what I've stated clearly to you. An HGV can carry a max load of 44,000 kg, there is no electric vehicle in existence that can do anything close to that. So no, you are wrong, an electric vehicle in my example can't go as far, because it can't even take that load. EV has a very long way to go.

Depends on the industry. HGV drivers started asking for better pay rises and got replaced with Poles. The Polish HGV drivers started asking for better wages and got replaced with Romanians. In both cases they were willing to live for 5 years 10 to a house and send the money back home on minimum wage, which a British born HGV driver with a family in Britain could far less afford to do. Once the Romanians went home (since they’d mostly never intended to live in the U.K. long term anyway), HGV driver wages shot up. (Of course, this was not helped by the MOT being so far behind on licensing due to WFH slowing the processing down)

> Isn't Blue Origin, RDW and Axiom also trying to break into space tourism which is bad for SPCE? It’s an industry big enough for multiple players, and SPCE have arguably the safest and most comfortable methodology through not being VTOL. Any competitor using the same method would be a decade or more from operation - which combined with existing brand strength and a multi-day experience to leverage can certainly carve space for significant demand. > What's the TAM for the market SPCE going into again? Commercial space will reach 5% of US GDP by 2040 ($1.5T), and Bain&Co show that luxury experiences outpace broader segment growth by 7%, itself compounding 10% YOY. They’re (initially) aiming for just 0.1% of those with a net worth above $10M - which itself is around 2.5M individuals (and that is compounding 6% YOY). It’s for the elite of the elite, and I think it always will be - even when the costs *could* come down to within the everyday person’s reach. > Does SpaceXs starship pose a threat to SPCEs market share in the future? I’d say that’s like comparing Ferrari to Volvo HGV’s. It’s simply different markets and different uses. I’m interested to see how SPCE leverages their business into building out a hypersonic airline, however. Perhaps there’s an argument for competition there!

Sooooo in other words you haven't a clue about either the company or the industry they're operating in.... Tbh, if you want to carry on making zero-meaning statements, that's really up to you. So far you've said nothing which demonstrates that you've got any knowledge of anything, other than how to be belligerent. Do you actually have anything meaningful to say on the actual conversation (which, in case you missed it, is about market potential for $NKLA). Anything you can say which has any information to support your position? For that matter, what exactly is your outlook for them? You haven't said what it is, let alone justified anything. And just to be clear, while the vehicles sent to customer aren't fully homologated, it's normal for OEMs to do this on low volume vehicles in the HGV and transit markets, especially in North America. There are certain categories of vehicle that can't effectively sell until various tests have been completed on prototype registered vehicles in market. Additionally, producing low volumes from a pilot plant is a common thing to do for all OEMs, and for a new company, it's absolutely the right thing to do. It gives them time to settle the processes and production quality before it's transferred onto a quicker tact-time line. I've spent 25 years dealing with this stuff for a bunch of company's that you know well, and you've quite probably driven products that I've had a heavy involvement with. Really, unless you can muster together a technical argument, based on the industry and $NKLA's business and product propositions, then you're just looking like you're more and more out of your depth.

Oil is bouncing around for a lot of reaosns. Since the beginning of COVID we've seen incredibly volatile demand overall, global infrastructure shortages (to the point it was cheaper for them to give away fuel than pay for storage), generally dropping demand (due to widespread WFH) and big focus on climate issues. In some places there's even been problems with things like HGV drivers meaning that even when demand is high, they can't sell fuel. Although many industries have had these kinds of problems, oil is known for having very predictable demand.

They are aiming for 20 million cars per year by 2030 and because EVs are less complex than Ice they are cheaper to manufacture so n they will have industry leading grid margin of 30% even when they start producing cheaper cars. Tesla is massively reducing the cost of conventional parts like injection moulding the sub frame with the Giga press. Traditional auto became fat and lazy. Tesla will compete on speed of innovation like we've never seen before. So at that production rate they would have 15-20% global market. Easily justifying market cap of Volkswagen and Toyota combined. About 380 billion. With average gross margin of 30-35% that's double VW and Toyota so double the valuation nearly 800 billion. And that's just cars. All the panic buyers already bought fuel so there are no more queues at fuel stations, at least in London (but AFAIK it was the worse in and close to London) and it's back to normal with petrol on stations. Fuel prices went up by about 5% for now at least. Fookers. No other shortages were there. Lack of HGV drivers isn't resolved though, it's not even dented, ... well military now helps with transport but it's temporary and not enough anyway... so anything that needs and is based on transport still can create problems. Things like some food products for example ;) which is my next bet for panic buying.

Nope. I'm sitting this one out. Maybe the market will carry on shooting up over the coming winter of: - massively increased natural gas prices - HGV driver and trained retail worker shortages fucking up Christmas sales - International freight charges being 5x usual - China's consumers freaking out about Evergrande and panic selling investment properties at a loss - China's consumers not buying shiny things I think we will see good Q3 earnings and then everything will start going to shit with a poor Q4 internationally. We don't need a banking crisis to burst a bubble.

I’m a freight forwarder and can confirm that the shipping industry in a state like never seen before, unfortunately to the point where a huge number of my customers have decided to source materials elsewhere, more local locations as the cost of moving a box (container) is proportionately too massive compared to the value of the goods themselves. I would add that if you’re able to locate tickers for some trucking / haulage companies, please let me know, since they can basically charge what they want as a result of the HGV driver shortage globally. Their profits will go 🚀

So, worth noting their main issue here is logistics costs going up. It's a worldwide issue, with HGV driver shortages, drivers self-isolating with Covid, and more deliveries compounding the issue. In theory, as more drivers become available and Covid recedes, that issue should iron itself out. Meanwhile, their revenues have increased and they are delivering on growth. Still a good long-term prospect IMO, but plenty of short-term risks - depends how long you want to hold it for, Vs if you want to day trade it.
