My wife once asked me if the tables were reversed, if I'd enjoy being a stay at home dad (she's a stay at home wife, since my income is able to support that while living comfortably), and I said no. People who have asked me if I won the Powerball, what would I do? I always tell them that I'd probably just buy a comfortable house, my dream cars (Subaru WRX STI with a custom wrap, 2000s, with a kit and rebuilt from the ground up, and a really nice Bronco from the 80s), then I'd put a lot of it back for my kids, invest the rest, and simply keep working. Sure, I'd probably retire earlier than what I would now (current plan is early - mid 50s), but even then, I'd have to have a part time job. Idk, my brain is wired weird. I just can't not work. I tried it years ago when I didn't have to work. Thought I'd love it, and could play video games all day, hang out with my wife, and live stress free. But it was the opposite. It was absolutely detrimental to my mental health to the point that I ended up in the E.R. because of a extremely bad panic attack. All those years of my dad instilling work value and ethics in me really changed how I feel about the world. I have to have a purpose. But your advice at the bottom is interesting.
