TWCUX vs. MIEZX

Not really stocks, but when I started to earn paychecks as a teen around 96, my father set me up with a few mutual funds directly with investment firms, specifically American Century and Janus. Firms mailed me deposit slips/envelopes, and I'd write "Made payable to American Century" on the back of my paychecks, then mail it in with the provided slip and envelope. I'd check the monthly statement to ensure everything showed up. I kind of miss those days. Funds were TWCUX and JAMRX. I've since educated myself and moved to better investments, but those two are still ticking.

Need feedback on my portfolio I’d love a critique of my portfolio! Any constructive criticism is welcome. 2/3 of my portfolio is in a Schwab account. Portfolio is (roughly) 25% VOO 25% MSFT 25% TWCUX 25% VEIPX The other third of my portfolio is in an acorns account set at medium risk. I contribute about 1/4 of my pay to the portfolio a month. I also buy some crypto monthly. Not much though. Ultimately, if things go as planned, I will never touch these funds. This will hopefully be part of my son’s inheritance so I’ve got time. I’m 47. Thoughts?

It’s crazy! I had to sell my TWCUX! Expense ratio of .90 was too much for me. Perfect day would’ve been Thursday. I did Friday. But after looking at the after hours drop, I’m full expecting it to be a bloody Monday. Hoping to have it settle in time to reinvest it in FXAIX. Hoping I catch it in time to catch some of the dip.

Same here. 80% of my mom's investments in her Roth IRA were in an aggressive growth MF(TWCUX), and 20% were in a MMA earning nothing. She's also been diagnosed with dementia and cognitively declining. I transferred everything over into a Roth IRA account at a new brokerage firm, sold everything and bought all SGOV.

I have an inherited individual account invested in TWCUX with American Century Investments, currently sitting at $50k. Fees on this Ultra Fund aren't great (Gross ER 0.95%, Net 0.89%). I'd like to look at alternatives, but I've never done this before and I'm concerned about tax implications. I'd also appreciate advice as to whether I should bother moving it, or just let it sit, even with the expense ratio. Thank you

why not do QQQ which has them as top holdings. or maybe TWCUX. I love those companies and have held those companies for 10+ years and has done me well with no plans on selling. maybe do 50% in QQQ and then 50% split across the three.

Those are the only large cap funds in the 457b. MIEZX has the lowest expense ratio of all the investment choices in the plan. There are mid and small cap choices, but they all have expense ratios equal to or higher than TWCUX and their 10yr returns are all under 7%. I also have a roth ira and brokerage through Vanguard, but I'm trying to max this roth 457(b) because I'll have to pay capital gains tax on the brokerage. Although I wonder, with these poor choices, if I'd still come out ahead with Vanguard even with the capital gains tax.

TWCUX is mostly the biggest companies (Apple, Microsoft, Nvidia, Amazon, Google, Tesla, United Health, etc.) with a 0.91% expense ratio (which is not good). MIEZX is an SP500 index with a 0.22% expense ratio. Are those your only options? Usually you can get a SP500 index with less expense.

TWCUX has a high expense ratio almost a percent. MIEZX has a reasonable .22ish ratio. Hope that helps you make a decision.

> nick picking every little stock or sector and having us move in & out on their whims Oh, I found this very clear. And I thank you for being specific enough, like you were, so that some of us may gain comfort in that we are 'buy & hold forever' types. Thank you for the suggestion. I am using a fund that beats VPMCX by a small amount over the last 3, 5 and 10-year periods, but then is getting whooped by VPMCX over the last year. TWCUX is a bit tech heavy, but that's the way I've always been leaning since the early 2000's. It's suffering now, and time will tell I guess. In looking at the top ten holdings of VPMCX, I love the different focus from TWCUX, and may very well incorporate a few of those in my holdings. Thank you.

Honestly, mimic the top ten holdings for TWCUX. It has done very well for me, and it's what I'm now emulating in my own individual investing.
