You don't really need a whole laptop. You can get an SSD and boot from it and use that as your "clean laptop". Ideally speaking, that SSD will have disk encryption (LVM/LUKS or VeraCrypt), and every other disk on your device. This way no drive can influence others since everything is encrypted, even when infected with malware. You can also go the extra step of disabling all your internal laptop/desktop SSDs/drives when booting from that crypto SSD. This way you can guarantee isolation at the hardware level. You can even take it further and only boot from Tails OS and store all your permanent data on a thumb drive. Or... just use a hardware wallet?
blocks directory by itself is 558GB If it was me, I'd get a 2TB or larger HDD for blocks, and then use the config options to store all the other - chainstate, indexes - on either SSD Otherwise, use LVM to make the OS see the 2 disks as one partition
