First off Why wouldn't western countries" join" mBridge? Countries are talking about about this exact things at the WEF for ages now. In fact France and Norway are helping developing it. Secondly mBridge cannot replace SWIFT. Third, everything will be denoted in USD in the end anyway since other currencies are kinda useless to keep except when trading with that particular country. Only the Euro and Yuan have some practical use, but the Euro suffers from some European countries being weak links and the Yuan is being manipulated to be undervalue'd.
WEF wants CBDC to enslave the people so that they can be better controlled by their own lack of resources. Wealth redistribution becomes as easy as changing a variable.

You are free to see it that way, I am just not convinced that a project which is getting involved in CBDCs and WEF tries to appeal to the average crypto bro in the first place. If they would care about it, they would hide it like Solana or Cardano did, Hoskinson used to go to Davos and laughed his ass off about the conspiracy theorists, but nobody in Cardano community talks about it. Even the founding story is complete the opposite - bunch of award winning cryptographers built a protocol in a transparent way versus some drop out kids doing an ICO in their garage, and have hidden wallets.

Not being able to pay taxes in USD isn't a reason for it never to be worthless. The WEF and BIS are supra-national organizations who will be determining which currency is valid. Throughout history "legal" currencies change. The USD is being destroyed right now. Soon, as more countries join BRICS, I think the USD will become worthless. CBDCs will have nothing to do with the USD, and they are most certainly not the same thing. If they have their way, the CBDC will be the world's reserve currency, not the USD.
