I made some money shorting NFLX this time, but suffered a huge loss due to one mistake. However, I maintained a good mindset; as you said, the amount of each single options trade must be within the acceptable risk range. Shorting is really too risky, while call options have unlimited potential for appreciation. The recent examples (MU, SDNDK, RKLB.ALAB..) are all excellent examples. Incredibly, the stocks on my watchlist all doubled in a short period of one month. If you miss one, you'll be waiting for another opportunity. 🚀
Eh. I’m up 39% since starting my wee journey 4 weeks ago. ALAB doing the heavy lifting here for me. The rest of my picks are sucking.
I trim core holdings that had gone up a lot (MU. NVDA. CRWD. DELL. AAPL, META etc). I don’t care about FOMO on further runup from here. I exit completely those I had bought on short term trades that had gone up at least 25%+ from my basis (APO. ALAB. CRDO. CRWV. MRVL etc) esp those that are very volatile. Can’t go wrong taking profits. I had learned my lessons from the dot-com bust, housing meltdown, covid crash, etc. Unless you have a stop-loss on them, it would be wise to sell/trim emotion. those u believe would come down a lot in case of a major selloff due to exogenous events (tariffs, Iran war etc) and recover more slowly. You can’t predict when this market will turn against you and by the time you react it’s too late. Not necessarily incurring a loss but getting out at a lower profit compared to getting out when a stock hits record high. I’m very happy w my gains and content with what’s left exposed to the market. Know your risks and level of exposure and have a strategy so you don’t act on emotion when deciding on trades.

Yeah was thinking last Thursday as well. Only thing saving me right now is FCEL and ALAB, with a smidge of DRAM and STM. Getting boned on GFS. But special shout out to PDFS for royally boning me with their $200M public offering which tanked any chance of being green.
I started with 1000 on Monday. I bought INTC which gave me a few hundred. Then I bought CRWV which I’m down on but still holding. But the ALAB contract was just under 1.1k for one contract. It went up 300%. Still holding it as I think ALAB will go higher due to news.

My case I am was looking at collecting a measly 600 vs 5700 .. even if it comes back down and make 4x instead of 9x ... I am ok with it.. Avgo and MRVL are dominating, sive has potential. Poet is just a startup, outside of Reddit nobody really cares about them, I’m so surprised how this stock became popular with Reddit (anyone know?) there’s so many out there. Hot kid on the block for startup (private) is ayar labs. Some of MRVL/avgo competition include CRDO and ALAB who are gaining traction

Methinks the mother of all dumps is coming on Nvidia earnings day when they guide DOWN (talking about a -10% across the board, some high beta AI stocks like ALAB cratering 20% in seconds) and the market knows this but it can't go down too much, so they have to keep pumping it beforehand to create enough buffer room for the market
AMD had a bigger beat last earnings and dumped 17%. This time it was 1.5x the price, had a smaller beat, and pumped 20%. It's clear that they're not interested in dumping any semi stock this earnings season even if earnings are terrible (and if they do, it bounces back immediately for example ARM and ALAB). Next earnings season is when cracks begin to show though so I'm saving cash for puts.

If you've read through their IPO "qualifications" and "criteria" it's more than just about account value and fees. More specifically they want long term share holders, and not flippers, to purchase the IPO shares; and this is all outlined in the documentation. They even state if you were to flip an IPO allocation, it could prohibit you from future allocations. Since you are trading a bunch on margin, surely you are flipping shares often and don't meet the criteria they are looking for (no offense on what you do). I'm a long term share holder - some shares are more than 15 years - and most are 7-8+ years. I'd say I get about 40-50% of the "hot" IPO's allocated. Of course what's "hot" is very subjective. But if you're only applying only for the hottest of the hot, such as the likes of ABNB SNOW ALAB CBRS; you're probably going to be left out more often than not because it's over subscribed. It's like putting your name in for a FIFA World Cup ticket and there is one ticket avaiable for every 20k entries.
Wasn't so much market bottom, it was per ticker bottom and a price I wanted. I monitored their PE ratios, and my thoughts, assumptions, and detailed analysis on oils impact. Stated another way, some was gut, some was smarts. E.g. LITE, BE, and COHR were gut. ALAB and MRVL was spreadsheets. When they got to numbers I thought were a no brainer I started DCAing. I was literally on spring break 3/30 buying blocks. Some are up 30% some 100% I'm a huge AI bull and had 30 stocks i wanted back into. This is important to know about me. I'm unwavering in it. Also important to know is my taxed account never changed. I only sold my calls but held shares. Didn't sell a share. My taxed account is stuff I plan to never sell. Timing the market is stupid however. With the Iran war I sold many many MU calls and never bought back in. Had I held them or bought back in, I would have had life changing money. I lose sleep over it.
I don't go short ever, coz I always get it wrong. So my "short" is basically cash. I sold my ALAB position after the ER yesterday but I really liked the call but then also the weakness it showed in the last 2 days is crazy. There is no sign of accumulation.

I trade base breakouts setup and unfortunately not many stocks are breaking out of strong bases right now. This makes sense coz usually strong stocks breakout first during a bull run and then laggards break out later. The most recent one I entered (yesterday) was DY (I even made a banbet on that here lol). It's entry was 420 I think. Other than that, I do hold APLD, ALAB and NVDA (but just 20% of my port since I'm rn 80% cash)

Look at Neoclouds like NBIS, CRWV, IREN. High speed connectivity like CRDO and ALAB. I also like APLD which is sort of a datacenter landlord, they own the power and land but not GPUs which depreciate fast. Memory (MU,SNDK) will probably keep running though.
Yeah, seems right. You may also want to check out $ALAB or some photonics stocks. They’re lagging rn but tend to run with the others too.
