Mentioning a ticker *before* it runs: AVIR. Phase 3 results from hep c and e anti-viral expected mid 2026. Possible play is to take a small position now and watch. Buy in on dips. A few months before expected Phase 3 readout stock could start having momentum. Clinical trials (and FDA approval) always have a real possibility of going wrong no matter how good the drug/results look. With that said, based on past results there is a good chance Phase 3 results will support approval.
Just a regular Joe here who had some good wins over the years. AMC was an incredible win. AVIR not so much. Lost a 100K on that one. 🫠 I’ve made good wins buying when others are fearful. Made off like a bandit on VEON and Polymetal. I’m definitely grumbly over the 38K I invested in Lukoil and Sberbank that are frozen ( thanks OFAC) and worth 250K in Moscow! Their value is not reflected in my account.
that is an interesting site. i think during teaching one point to push home is that losses are not just bad, they are horrible. what people don't realize is that you don't get back a 19% loss with a 19% increase. and on top of that, look at all the time you lost. i am always happy to take a small profit and get out of a situation and not wait for possible bigger profits. case in point today, AVIR. i started buying at 6 and kept buying all the way down to 3.32. i will take the 8.5% profit today. thank you very much. lol
You just have to move on... I lost over 400k overnight on $AVIR... and my annual salary is only 80k. Thought they had to covid pill locked down after 300 million investment by large biopharma and passed phase 2 will flying colors... only to find out 1 random day that the CEO fleeced everyone and the drug doesn't work at all. Catered 75% and I was on margin. Wiped out 2 accounts in 1 day.

Check the fundamentals again, compare them with the stocks’ valuations and try to decide for each. I invested in AVIR like 6 months ago at ~40$ and it’s down 73% and I’m not selling while I sold TRIT on a 5% loss and PLUG for 60% gain. My point is, don’t sell because you lost or made a certain %, try to value the stock for what it’s worth and where it might go in the future. Sometimes you make a mistake while first doing DD and the stock is just overvalued and you must sell on a loss, if you think the valuation is low for a stock and the company has potential and opportunities for growth, don’t sell

I don't know why the one that went down is circled... the only stocks that are going to turn $1000 into $10,000 are long shots that are currently in the toilet and will probably go out of business, but have enough cash to keep trying for long enough. If a stock is going up... it has almost no change of going 1000%. If people are looking at it already, and it was worth that much, *it would have already gone up that much.* To have a chance to go up that much people need to either not be looking at it, which means it will be wandering down (because of how market-making works) or looking at it and thinking it is a stinker. That's what speculating on biotech is all about; buying stocks that are probably stinkers but might not be. In the case of AVIR, I absolutely love it at this price, and even though it is up in aftermarket, if I had liquidity I'd buy it. Hopefully it doesn't gap up tomorrow, and I can sell something and get a good entry!

Fuck MRK and PFE. AVIR is the real play. Super successful CEO and no adverse events or clinical withdrawal from any patients thus far with incredible results, including reduced viral load almost instantly. Y’all need to wake up and see the real potential winner with a market cap that’s a fraction of the big pharma mega stocks. AVIR’s CEO owns 7+% of the company and hasn’t sold a damn share. There’s a reason for that when you want a “b” instead of an “m” before -illionaire.

AVIR has done so good for me this past week, I think I need to sell and buy the tech dip.
I don't honestly know. They both appear to target the same function within COVID in order to interfere with its replication. The PFE is supposed to be different enough that it can be taken in a cocktail with either MKR or AVIR (so I bought PFE calls today). We're pretty data scarce here, but the few things we know are that 1) AVIR outperformed MRK's pill in severe, hospitalized COVID trials. 2) AVIR's CEO, presumably referencing this, publicly claimed that AVIR's pill is more effective than the competition. We really just need AVIR to release their next stage 2 results, hopefully on Tuesday, and then waiting their stage 3's in early November.
How is MRK pill different from AVIR's ?
Wondering if I can double dip on AVIR or if this price is the new bottom. Definitely see it rising throughout Q4 but I have to imagine a pullback after their Sept run.
They have a control group, who still have the virus after almost half of the pill group have none left at all. Those were in the severe group, while less severe should be an even quicker recovery. If you don't like this play, that's fine, but let's keep this on double-blind study, and money to be made ground. Clearly, you could have made a lot of money already on AVIR.

Merck presented a study at a medical conference early Wednesday showing that its experimental Covid-19 antiviral is active against variants of the virus that causes the sickness. The Merck product, known as molnupiravir, is one of a number of antiviral pills under development to treat and even prevent Covid-19. Pivotal data on some of the pills, including those from Merck (ticker: MRK) and from Pfizer (PFE), is likely to be available soon. Executives from both companies have said they plan to file for emergency-use authorization before the end of the year. As Barron's reported in a magazine feature earlier this month , the pills have the potential to play an enormous role as the world adapts to an endemic threat from Covid-19. Even if the antivirals from Merck, Pfizer, the biotech Atea Pharmaceuticals (AVIR), and others, are only moderately effective, they are likely to be in enormous demand globally as patients and governments seek to blunt the human toll of the virus. Currently available therapeutics for Covid-19, including the monoclonal antibody therapies from GlaxoSmithKline (GSK), Regeneron Pharmaceuticals (REGN), and others, are generally administered intravenously, which makes them inconvenient for widespread use. Pills would allow for much broader access. The new study from Merck answers one vital question about the antiviral pills: Would their efficacy be weakened by the rapid mutation of the virus, as has happened with the Covid-19 vaccines? The study, presented at IDWeek 2021, a medical conference focusing on infectious diseases, examined data from two separate clinical trials of molnupiravir and in vitro studies of the drug. The authors found that mutations of the spike protein of the SARS-CoV-2 virus didn't impact the work of the drug against the virus. "Both in vitro and clinical data suggest that spike protein substitutions do not impact antiviral activity of [ molnupiravir] and suggest molnupiravir's potential for the treatment of SARSCoV-2 variants, particularly when initiated early in the course of illness," the authors wrote. The response to the drug was greatest in patients who had been symptomatic for five days or fewer when they began treatment, they said. Merck, which is developing molnupiravir in partnership with the private firm Ridgeback Biotherapeutics, is running Phase 3 trials of the drug as a post-exposure prophylaxis, and in non-hospitalized adults. In April, the company said it had decided not to proceed with a study of molnupiravir in hospitalized patients after disappointing early results. Earlier this week, Pfizer said it had begun testing its experimental Covid-19 antiviral, known as PF-07321332, as a post-exposure prophylaxis. Pfizer is also running other studies of the drug in non-hospitalized patients.
