Lol. You haven't dealt with too many stocks with these types of pumps I guess. To name a few, FFAI, AMC, and BBBY. The option premium for these P&D, are extremely high. This one is slightly different, since it's getting acquired, but until it actually is, it can easily drop to around .80-1.10 baseline and your portfolio gets nuked 30-50%. If Starman walks away from the deal, this is becoming a penny stock that either gets delisted or reverse split into oblivion. You're locking up your 3k to make a max of $390, assuming you get assigned in 6 weeks, which is 10% in 6 weeks for best scenario. Around 1.6% a week is very achievable in so many other stocks for example celcius, and carries much less risk with the same capital. So what are you're betting on is very high risk, very low reward, so yes extremely highly regarded with extra steps. At best you make a few hundred in 6 weeks, at worst, you're looking at a 50%+ drop or more or potentially getting listed and become a GOPRO community member for life. The company is in a dire state, and Starman could easily walk away from the deal and any delays will push it back to .50-.60 until confirmation.

Many of us have been there. I bought Apple and Google many years ago and made about 25% on each selling several 100% too soon. It took till my 40's to get smarter in what I invested in and patient. I don't buy companies that aren't profitable like BBBY and I don't look for get rich quick stocks like AMC. I did lose $7,500 on PLTR, however, I bought MSFT appx 10 yrs ago at $30 and still have it. I love NASDAQ index's and companies that make products that are either life changing, life savings or products that people can't live without. I never buy retail incl HD, just don't like the sector. Slow and steady, profitable & patient win this race.

A lot has to do with why the company needs to raise money or issue shares. BBBY issued a ton of stock the year before its bankruptcy because it was a badly run business. The proceeds were intended to try to fund a turnaround, or at least to make sure management kept getting paid for a while longer. That is a huge red flag. On the other hand, Berkshire Hathaway issued new shares several years ago as part of the acquisition of a railroad. The stock went up after the deal announced because investors thought the deal would boost the value of Berkshire. I don't really follow MARA, but I guess you'd have to decide whether you think the company will use the money raised more effectively than they have previously, given recent financial results.

because on numerous occasions I have 5-10x my money on the volatility that comes with the end of a company. PRTY,BBBY, REV, HRTZ, etc. And obviously everyone here enjoys throwing money away judging by all the loss porn and the fact that gambling on options isnt much better than playing slot at the casino. A computer and algo determined the price likely to make you bite and also to make sure you arent likely to come out ahead, yet people here gladly throw away their life savings on the daily. The only thing that makes options better than a slot machine is the off chance of a black swan event making the price rocket/dive. But most people here would probably be just as well off buying a stack of scratch off lottery tickets every week like all the other broke gambling addicts instead of flushing their retirement savings down the toilet.

BBBY has a long history I won't get into that but insiders do sometimes buy and sell stocks to affect market sentiment so I wouldn't rule that out and there could be many other reasons for insider activities... when CVNA was around $20 there were major insider buys then it tanked to $3.5

Sure but he was extremely successful with Chewy and I believe the same with GameStop. It’s a legacy brand that he doesn’t have to start up from scratch so he just needs to add to what is already there. Rabid shareholder base is important but since you mentioned BBBY the board of directors was very sub par and they are going through Chapter 11 restructuring. They could re-emerge a better company with a new board, who knows. My focus in on GameStop.

My desires are immaterial - I'm simply going by GME's track record. Top and bottom line. Positioning. Products, Lack of successful pivots. There is nothing "thriving" about GME. Also note, BBBY and other meme stocks also had a rabid shareholder base - that is not evidence of much, other than reason getting hijacked for sentiment. Which usually doesn't end well.

Gamestops biggest investor which regularly buys more, is also the Chairman and CEO and is improving the firm at a rapid rate. The fundamentals have been explained in this thread and some of the reasons the firm is having a hard time is a false labeling as a meme stock and media bias. Gamestop hasn't been a meme stock for a long time and only an idiot can't see this. Also it is more than just a stock, it is a movement and gamble against some of the biggest and most corrupt Hedgefonds. I am greedy and love taking risks and get punished for it time and time again. I am sitting on unrealised gains on PayPal and Comerzbank right now in options and am not selling. Theta will come to get me. Your comment got me thinking that I might have a problem. I lost 80% of the money that I earned in my life up to this point and there is no sign of change. It's definitely an indicator, although not a definite one. The yield curve inverted before the global financial crisis in 2008 and also before the bursting of the internet bubble in 2001, just to name two more examples you somehow chose to ignore. And a stock can be overvalued and at the same time be a 100x bagger for some lucky guy, e.g. GME during the meme stock craze in 2021. But you might as well buy a lottery ticket hoping to win the jackpot. Eventually, valuations will matter and plenty of speculators will get burned, e.g. BBBY and its violent price fluctuations on its way to bankruptcy. Personally, I prefer bets where the odds are stacked in my favor, e.g. META trading at around $90 last fall, but to each their own I guess.
