This is how I see it too. It's going to be a game like Grand Theft Auto that makes "the" breakthrough and takes things to a new level. ANY GAME. yeah first warcraft wasn't really about collecting loot, so probably better for world of Warcraft, 90% of games have collectables now, triple A games love making money and buying extra equipment is a great way for them to do it, but we should then be able to resell those purchases. Give it a few years an reselling loot will be a requirement for a game to be considered worthwhile I'm sure. Loot in your own wallet because it would make gaming more impactful, get fancy sword in-game, is that for income to resell? Or are you going to go rampaging through other campaigns with the new sword to get an even bigger sword? I've known people that enjoy games, but then sell their account wholesale on eBay or whatever, even though that not recommended by the game makers. Reselling already happens. Also, consider royalties, sell a genesis sword for $5, gets resold for $10000 in a few years, collect royalties, potential for that is HUGE. the incentives are their for the gamer and the game makers.

Long time gamer, in crypto for a couple years now. Tried a few of the P2E games and found the existing games to be extremely lacking in all ways. I think there is a future for P2E gaming, but it’s incredibly important for the game to be a great GAME first and foremost. IMHO, the blockchain layer of the game should be near-invisible from a UX perspective, in order for P2E games to be adopted by the wider market. Right now it feels like a niche for “crypto bros” only. YMMV.

I know there are platforms that will allow you to port things into different games, but I don't think that ownership is as important as being able to prevent cheating, and duping items. And as I wrote, but you apparently missed, sure it is still possible that people would pay for the rare stuff. But those are exceptions, You as regular player are never goign to gain non-negligible income from that. Most games come with a grind, or pay to play option, so do the grind or pay the money. You don't have to be a farmer for the whole game, and MOST games have that aspect, I'm playing GTA Online, grinding through missions for money to get more stuff that gets me more missions, I COULD pay to not grind, but I grind instead.

You aren't understanding that NFTs-in-gaming ALL HAVE this restriction. Sure, you own the token, but AGAIN if the token can only be used in a centralized service like a game, THE COMPANY THAT RUNS THAT GAME can unequivocally decide not to honor your NFT, or simply shut down making your NFTs worthless. This has already fucking happened, man. Look up the F1 NFTs that were a big deal a while back. Game shut down, NFTs are absolutely worth less than shit now. And no, there won't be any way to use those NFTs in "another game" because guess what, F1 is an actual IP and not just anybody can make a game for it, and if they did why would they bother adding back support for some failed NFT project. EVERY SINGLE NFT-IN-GAMING USECASE falls under this restriction. The whole thing is a fucking nonstarter, obviously. A decentralized currency/collectible that can only be used in a centralized service? What?

When Axie Infinity blew up in the Philippines last year their government said that any income earned from the game (which would be in the form of AXS/SLP) would be taxed If altcoins and profits from a crypto GAME can be taxed, you can be darn sure that transactions using BTC will be taxed as well
