I've been a redditor for a long long time now and sometime in 2020 or 2021 I opened up my vault and started farming moons. Didn't think much of it, was just a fun goof on the side. Phone that contained my vault died, and I got a new one without even thinking about it. Few months later I try to restore my vault on my new phone and I can't find my recovery phrase. I was so certain I had my wallet recovery phrase written down with the rest of my wallet phrases, but it is missing. First instinct was "OH SHIT SOMEONE FOUND MY STUFF", but no one would take an obscure reddit vault instead of the hardware wallet and all the other stuff. So I'm left to believe I just got high or something one day and used it as rolling papers. Fast forward to today, I work as an IT specialist with a few years as a programmer under my belt and I still can't get this phone online. I honestly don't even know how many moons are in there as I never really kept track of it. So with moons popping off I'm going to get back to trying to fix that old piece of shit. Thing is, you already have a personal wallet, and that is the wallet address associated with your vault. When you are trying to make your moons accessible via Metamask, what you are doing is just using Metamask as an interface (a tool) for accessing that very same wallet. The Reddit Vault is just a another interface that gives you access to the same wallet. Now, the problem is that Reddit themselves limited the Vault so that you can only send moons to other wallets that are also tied to Reddit accounts. So if you're asking how to make transferring moons VIA REDDIT VAULT any simpler? The answer is that it's on the Reddit team. They are the only ones who can remove that limitation. Otherwise, you will have to use a different interface in accessing your wallet address. And if Metamask seems too complicated, then you need to find a different service that has simpler steps in importing.

Hi, I would like to understand this scenario better. Do you have any concerns about this situation? Let’s say that an exchange is using the OP_VAULT wallet system and a user wants to withdraw bitcoins from it. The OP_VAULT wallet system has a timeLock feature that sets a minimum delay of 24 hours (based on the recovery key cold feature, the watchTower system, and the workdays). There are three of addresses involved in this scenario: addr0: the OP_VAULT address that belongs to the exchange addr1: the OP_UNVAULT address that is created by the exchange (either alone or with the user as a co-owner) when a user requests a withdrawal addr2: the independent address that belongs to the user and where they want to receive their bitcoins finally No matter which addr1 belongs to , in any case, the time for a user to withdraw coins to their addr2 under such an OP_VAULT institution, will take 24 hours, and there is a 'good' reason: for security. Then, I guess, the exchange will do something with addr1 to improve the user experience and reassure users that this address can be shown in the App UI, as belonging to the users, because it does make sense, in most cases as long as 24 hours have passed indeed users can operate these assets. But a lot can happen in those 24 hours. The addr1 is a highly information-asymmetry address, it is not comparable to the 2-2 multi-signature address(even with an OP_CHECKLOCKTIMEVERIFY timelock) at all. What is disgusting is that the exchange will be very generous and show the balance of addr1 to the users. In any case, as long as the exchange uses the OP_VAULT wallet system, the exchange has a legitimate reason to delay the time, for users to Withdrawal their coins from 10 minutes to 24 hours.

Cool read. I've been following OP\_VAULT on the mailing list and I'm pretty excited about the potential capabilities. I hope that there is a way to restrict amounts like OP\_CHECKTEMPLATEVERIFY has. I think the proposed OP\_CODE was OP\_AMOUNTVERIFY. To me, that has a lot of potential for scalability. I think that would allow many people to share a single UTXO. I think there is also a possibility of using transaction packages and cross input aggregation to allow multiple parties to efficiently spend during the same block. I still have a lot to learn, but I think I see a way forward to global scalability with many ideas spread through the different BIPS.

Has anyone addressed the concerns about using OP-VAULT to blacklist addresses and transactions, in effect introducing censorship into the base chain? I think this was the main concern last time around. TBH, with how blindsided we were with Taproot, and the unintended uses of the upgrade, I am very skeptical of a change, specially if it is pushed through fast. OP_VAULT (bip345) This is a bad idea. Actually Timelock-multi-sign addresses are already effective. This bip345 paper assumes absolute security of the backup-keys, and so there is no comparison under such an assumption with timelock-multi sign addresses. In addition, this proposal creates a special new coins state entirely, a public in-flight utxo on the chain. This essential change is very different from any previous utxo (CLTV's does not change the on-chain commonness of otxo) A common scenario of concern is that individuals cannot avoid dealing with institutions, which will tend to pay individuals with such wallets (salaries, insurance, etc.) and use security as a excuse and low fees as a lure, so that the individuals who are waiting for payments become utxo third citizens and vulnerable. OP_VAULT is a dangerous idea.

You don't pick the seed phrases. They need to be in a specific order, and they are from a list. Look up bip39 seed phrase list. And there are also active proposals and measures being taken to prevent the attack you are describing. Such as OP_VAULT where even if you pointed a gun to my head and moved the coins to a wallet you control, there will be a "time window" in which i can "redirect" the funds back to an address i control Apart from that, currently there is no way to look at a 12-24 word seed phrase and be able to tell if it is being used in a multisignature set up. So even if you find a word list, if it has $1000 dollars on it, it could be a part of another more secure set up which guards $100,000. So it really depends on who is being attacked, what preventative measures they took, etc. A very motivated person can make it where even they don't have easy access to the funds. That way, if you attack or kill the person you either lose access to the funds forever or hurting them does nothing because the set up was designed to take torture into account. For example...they willingly tell you the location of the 24 word lists. You've places them in 3 different geographically separated locations and i do not know the words by memory. Only can access them by physically going and entering them into a new device for a new transaction, etc. The point is to make it take as much time as possible because criminals are usually in a rush

you can't transfer it WITH THE REDDIT VAULT APP. YOu can absolutely transfer it anywhere with a real wallet like metamask or something. I agree that reddit themselves probably won't try to push for exchanges to list moons because of SEC concerns though, and if reddit doesn't do it themselves, none of us have the connections to do it.

I think they use a 30 day average to calculate your BNB. Also, you do not need to keep it in your spot wallet. Keeping it in BNB vault will work too - just don't stake it. The idea is to have BNB and keep it for longer periods of time. This way, you are eligible for all upcoming launchpads - also, keeping the BNB in VAULT will give you a pretty decent return on all launchpool coins at the same time, while still being viable for the cashback rewards AND launchpad commitment.
