If you tear a piece of paper in half there are more PIECES of paper but there is not any more PAPER than there was before. You do not mint BTC anyway you mine it and no. This would not require any mining at all even if done onchain. Which, again, it almost certainly will not be because if it is being used as currency it will be on a lvl 2 and that lvl 2 can (and already does) allow partial satoshi's as payment. Just can not put .5 of a satoshi into cold storage.

Is this 9k in a stablecoin or in some sort of crypto? If it's in crypto then you only have 9k ON PAPER only. After years in crypto I would suggest: 1. If all your 9k is in stablecoins - cash out at least 50% (if not all) into stablecoins. 2. Split the stablecoins into smaller buy orders which you'll use to accumulate BTC. Buy btc on larger pullbacks. For example if you have 4k usdt, you can split it into 8 purchases of $500. Place spot limit buy orders at levels lower than the current price. For simplicity you can place them every $2k down from the current price. This way you'll be accumulating btc - the OG and most decentralized crypto and the only institutional crypto asset at the moment. You'll keep exposure to crypto but greatly reduce risks of your portfolio dropping 90% in value. I'm essence I recommend this portfolio: 50% BTC, 25% USDT (for buying dips), 25% other alt coins. Don't gamble with leverage trading as the vast majority of leverage traders get liquidated eventually. Stay in spot trading.

Get yourself a hardware wallet. You don't need anything fancy. I have a Trezor One and it works great. When you get your wallet, first thing is you set it up. The wallet will give you 12-24 words. Write these down ON PAPER, don't store them digitally. These will be used to restore your wallet in case the device is damaged. After set up, go into your wallet. Click "receive" or something similar. It will give you a bitcoin address. Copy this address. Then go into your account on the exchange you use. Click "withdraw" or something similar. Now, you input the address you copied. DON'T SEND YET! Check the address. Compare it to the one from your device. Check the entire address. It only takes 20 seconds or so. If you check only the beginning and the end, you can be caught by malware that replaces your address when you copy and paste. After confirming the address is correct, click send/withdraw/whatever. The exchange should give you a transaction number. You can put this number into a blockchain explorer to get an idea of how quickly it will be confirmed by the network. And then your wallet will show that you have received bitcoin. Keep in mind that most exchanges charge a withdrawal fee. Do some research to find which exchange works best for you.

It's nuanced, How much do you hold, and how much does that amount mean to you? Don't be pressured into self custody cold storage by the kids on this sub chanting "not your keys... blah blah" when the liklihood is they only have $65 of Elondogshitcoin. When you finally have bags that are, for example, more than your annual gross salary, you start to look at risk differently. Yeah, cold storage is great, but it's still risky if you don't take enough precautions. And you have all your coins in one place. Plenty of people have lost everything in one swoop from a silly mistake. This is financial advice. 1. Create a new email address that is used only for CEX. 2FA (not text) that email. (proton mail is good) 2. Use an old phone to have a backup of all your 2FAs. 3. Have 3~ repeatable cexs coinbase, kraken, and gemini are mine. 4. Make sure all CEXs are 2FAd. 5. Get a cold wallet. 6. Write down your seed PAPER ONLY! 7. Now, scramble the order of your seed words. Very simple. Make multiple copies stored in multiple places. It's impossible for someone to unscramble/guess your seed with this. 8. Keep multiple decipher docs separately (Also save online in your email is ok) 1=7, 2=14, 3=9.... etc. 9. Practice recovery of your cold wallet. 10. Spilt your funds in a way that brings you the most peace of mine. 50% cold wallet 50% divided between 3 Cexs is a good start. Protip - have a spare laptop/comp that is used only for signing transactions. It never goes online. Put electrum on it. Create transactions. Put them on a USB drive. Move them to the offline laptop. Sign them with a cold wallet. Then, move the transactions back to your main u secure comp to broadcast the transaction.

Depends on how comfortable you are with tech and how much of effort you want to invest into securing your funds. The easiest way would be a hardware wallet like Ledger or Trezor. If you want a software wallet, I’d go with Electrum. Just make sure you download it directly from their website Electrum.org and do a checksum check before installing. If you want to be 100% paranoid like me, set up a dedicated, air gaped PC just for your wallet and keep it offline at all times. In any case, never reveal the seed phrase to anyone and never store it on your PC. WRITE IT DOWN ON A PIECE OF PAPER AND KEEP IT SECURE. And make multiple backups, as well.

BlueWallet. When you get it off the App Store make sure you get the right one, a lot of scammers out there. Solid, open-source bitcoin-only mobile hot wallet. For $100 it will do the trick. When you open the app and make a wallet, make sure to right down the 12 word sees phrase. Don’t take a picture of it, don’t save it as a note on your phone. WRITE IT DOWN ON PAPER WITH A PEN. Save it someplace secure. This is your seed phrase which will be the backup to your wallet, anybody that has this can take your Bitcoin. Click on the wallet and hit receive, it will generate an address he can send it to. Also recommended not to reuse addresses for privacy reasons, but you will only need 1 or 2 for this transaction. You can have him send a small transaction, $5-10 dollars, just to make sure you know how it works before sending the whole thing. He will need to choose the transaction fee between fast, medium, and slow. I would recommend fast if you want it done on the next block, otherwise it could possibly take awhile. Once it’s confirmed on chain you’re all set. You can even click on the transaction in your wallet and it takes you to the mempool and shows the transaction on chain.

Alright, if you want to be paranoid like me, get yourself a Raspberry Pi, install FreeBSD on it and use the Electrum wallet to create a cold wallet. IMPORTANT: WRITE DOWN THE SEED OF THE WALLET ON A PIECE OF PAPER! (And also keep it secure, make some backup copies just in case) Then after the Pi has been set up, disconnect it from the internet and open the Electrum wallet to get your addresses for receiving the funds. If you want some ease of use, you can get the xpub keys from the Electrum wallet on the Pi and use that to create a read-only wallet on a PC that’s connected to the internet. That way you can monitor the funds of the cold wallet and also get new addresses for receiving funds.

Aside from the fact leaked documents from FTX/Alameda shows that 8/14B of assets on their balance sheet is in FTT token. An amount of tokens larger than the current circulating supply and way to big to sell. This is exactly what Celsius was doing with CEL token, it’s called a flywheel and its used to make the balance sheet look good ON PAPER, but in reality the assets are illiquid trash. The Coinbase rumors never had a giant red flag like this.

No. The keys are generated on your Trevor or Ledger and never leave the device. Unless you set it up with recovery words, there is no other copy of that key. This is why it’s so important to never, ever, use recovery words provided with a Ledger or Trezor in the box. If yours came with recovery words it has been compromised, return it and buy one from the manufacturer directly. Once generated, the device will give you recovery words. You have to back those up ON PAPER ONLY since they are the only way to get your coins back if your device dies. Trezor and Ledger don’t have your key and CANNOT help you.

It’s so bad your $100 Bill with a crease in Singapore or Korea get a lower exchange rate than a flat $100. You haven't forfeited anything unless you then went and sold your cbETH. Otherwise those losses are simply unrealized losses ON PAPER. If you hold your cbETH eventually you will be able to unwrap back to ETH2 + the respective staking rewards at the time of your unwrap.

Good point it happens more often since personal investors and traders loose 75~ % of the time. (This isn’t Financial Advice I don’t work in finance I only learn for my personal finance) Sure if 75% were losses of cutting losses at $1 per $100 per trade but the 25% wins were $1 for every $1 meaning the 75% losses are way less than the gains total from the 25% wins. However this isn’t likely.. Most cases one wins on a small long before they keep longing the market (instead of selling it) and then end up in the red after a high of in the green. Learn to MINIMISE LOSSES THAN MAXIMISE GAINS. This way you save money and make money naturally focus on gains when they are in front of you. Not when you are envisioning the change in market or going of tech analysis or sentiment whatever. Only act on the current market stats. Unless you’ve been in this for years with a company trading and Investing crypto or shares or forex or bonds or security’s etc etc and use pro programs be bots to trade signals that tell you when to trade or invest or close out.
