Thank you for sharing your experiences! One common take away that I tend to see while reading hindsight posts such as yours is that us humans are so much more alike than we realize. Although many details of our experiences and circumstances will vary, the lessons that hindsight allow us to finally digest usually have some pretty basic concepts and values that seem anything but simple in today's constantly distracted world. When we read about someone experiencing something similar to what we did, I think it reminds us of some of the emotions we experienced, which help us empathize. Seems as if important lessons tend to stick better once there is a scar (emotional, financial, physical, etc) there to remind us, unfortunately meaning only *after* realizing a great deal of pain or loss. I myself am grateful that as I've gotten older, worked a great deal on self, I have matured both emotionally and mentally to where I'm naturally more receptive to wisdom I absorb from others experiences and hindsight. I see the progression made from your starting point to now and I think that again, there are probably more similarities amongst us than differences. Humans either tend to be fearful or greedy when it comes to money, partly because most of us are not born into generational wealth and also due to modern society being structured around it. Investing is something that most have to learn later on because once again our society is structured around us having to use money to pay for everything, and we end up realizing that exchanging our time for money or simply saving money will not liberate us financially. And once again, being the emotional creatures we are - may end up making the next decision based on emotion. Deciding not to ever invest or trade due to fear is an emotional, irrational decision. In contrast, opening a trading account with leverage without ever getting a foundation for financial markets is an irrational, emotional decision based on greed. Before I get specifically into my comments regarding leverage, let me back up and continue at the point where we have realized that we want to change our financial future. *For whatever reason.* Being emotional creatures that we are, and now knowing that the 9-5 is us agreeing to exchange our precious time for pennies and potentially sacrificing relationships and our happiness, we begin weighing our options... Do we go all in based on what traditional value investors like Warren Buffet do? Do we leverage credit to buy more real estate like Cardone? Could we possibly become the next predatory animal of Wallstreet? (IF NOT A WOLF, PERHAPS AN ALLIGATOR?! 🤔 🤣) Long term investments obviously require patience and although there are risks in any form of investment, are generally regarded as having lower risks. A lot of them also have a high barrier of entry (real estate,VC), or may require additional time and resources (real estate for example) which makes it harder to reach that level of financial freedom. Then there's trading. (From swing trading, to day trading, etc). Trading in general- *if successful* - would in theory allow someone to change their financial landscape in a much shorter period of time. What's the tradeoff for the chance at being comfortable/free/wealthy in a shorter time frame? Trading is often oversimplified by those who have almost no experience or understanding of what it takes to become successful doing so. Generally in the form of saying its only 1% that ever make it (usually someone disgruntled after a couple of failed attempts at blindly taking a shot), or in the form of selling you a little known, but "sure fire" strategy that is being marketed to you because they know you're a doer, otherwise you would skip their ad and continue watching your cat videos. 🙄 So... what does it really take? I would personally say mastering our emotions, being passionate about learning, adapting and waiting for the right time to execute. Although it seems as if trading is the perfect trade/profession for us with big financial goals that align with instant gratification: its not. Trading requires so many components and if one lacks any of those fundamentals (TA, basic economics knowledge, capital, time, strategy, discipline, risk management, controlling emotion, knowledge of price action) - then they're gambling regardless. Leverage just speeds up the process of total loss by allowing a trader to execute trades as if they had more capital. Human greed only sees the upside, and then once you've been burned a few good times from leverage, then naturally you will be fearful of it. The thing is, it seems as if most people "mess with", "try it a few times" or "play with it" (referring to trading with leverage), liquidate a few times and then swear it off. The problem is not the leverage. It's us. It's absolutely us thinking we will have positive, meaningful, sustainable, or exceptional results from multiplying the speed at which our position is affected by market movements we probably are not knowledgeable or experienced in. That being said, I think there may be a time for it, however it should absolutely not be considered a short cut, a hack, a strategy itself. TDLR We are more alike then different. Many want similar things. Different walks of life, different ideas, however we all breathe, bleed, think and feel. Learn from mistakes, your own and those shared by others. Knowledge, even in the form of hindsight is extremely valuable. Take Action: Freedom/Comfort will not come without action, discomfort, growth, etc. Set goals, learn, execute/experience, stay focused, apply discipline and repeat. In doing so you will continue to improve. Don't get hung up on failures. Don't let greed or fear influence important decisions. Whether you invest for long term or trade, learn the fundamentals, take time, develop and improve strategies. Share strategies when you have had consistent success with them. One of the reasons I love Reddit, is the overall willingness that people have to help, support and guide others. Success takes knowledge, risk, effort and discipline. Greatness takes what it takes to be successful, done consistently. The time it all takes will vary, however hardly anything worthwhile will happen quickly.

it is not funny. Millions of low income and young people have lost their money because they have preyed on by aggressive crypto promoters. I have seen this movie before with various fads and get-rich schemes over the last 50 years. I know a scam when I see one. and every time I get a message from a crypto evangelist type they always say I "dont understand cryptos" but no one does because there is nothing to understand. it has never made any sense except as a digital chain letter with some fast money transfer benefits, but we dont need that, and if cryptos had grown to 10+ trillion as their promoters promised, the entire global monetary system could be compromised as we could end up in a great depression. I was friends with a BTC promoter two years ago who tried to sell me on it. I told her to be careful because nothing backs up cryptos but hot air and sucker money (if any) and that once the inevitable crash happened, there is no bottom, no guard rails, no circuit breakers, no bail outs. More like a penny stock than a blue chip. And have you see WOLF OF WALL STREET? Well watch it again. Because that will probably be the story of cryptos. A few good years then SPLAT!
