Immediately revoke all your smart contracts from the Trust Wallet Menu. It's very well known if that's it: it will siphon off your wallet with each payment into it. In this smart contract section: you can note the names of the smart contracts and search on the net if the contract is corrupted. The corrupted DAPPS are referenced most of the time, this will allow you to understand where your error comes from so that you don't make it again . Because when we start we must not deceive ourselves: we make mistakes, unless you are a computer scientist or have studied crypto++ before the error often comes from us. Then if there is nothing on this wallet nor on this wallet app and after deleting the smart contracts as said - resets the wallet application: then recreate a wallet by writing down your passphrase then keeping it carefully out of reach of any network. (Laminated paper for example and in a safe at the bank or elsewhere. If you have stored your seed phrase somewhere carelessly that can be accessed by someone else, your account can get drained. If you have at some point given some permission to some DAPP that allows contracts to access your funds, it can be drained. Now this can be because someone found a vulnerability in the smart contract of a DAPP and they exploit it or it was malicious right from the start. If you are done using a DAPP, revoke permissions. Well, before you use a DAPP, make sure it's safe to do so. Don't touch any NFTs or coins someone sends to your wallet.

I hate to say this so bluntly but you have no clue what you are talking about. You are referring to the 27BTC lost the other day by a user who verified a transaction with a third party DAPP. Essentially he gave his keys away when he verified a transaction with his Bitcoin wallet. Ledger is not responsible for users who give their keys away.

The seed was generated by an Internet connected hot wallet mate so can't become cold, so to speak, uninstalling the app will just stop you accessing but if you have connected to any DAPPS and not disconnected before closing or especially a dodgy DAPP, uninstalling the app will just stop you seeing your coins. Cold storage is just that, cold as not connected to the Web so protected more from exploits etc providing your seed is safe and don't connect to any dodgy dapps, or any dapps for good practice.

OK so you are building something useful. Awesome! Looking forward to this. As for all the questions around what's offensive, that's a moving target and hard to balance. A domain name registered today could be considered taboo/offensive tomorrow. Repatriations and all that. This is a non winnable position. When encountering a non winnable position it's best not to play or interject at all. Tldr; Don't take a position on the domain names if you want true adoption else you risk eventual alienation via your own rules. Who cards of someone registers something offensive, it's up to the DAPP developers to include anything offensive in say like a ENS search engine. My 2 cents. Kind of, but not really. Coinbase still allows staking on their exchange. They just aren’t directly paying out the rewards themselves. The tokens are staked by a 3rd party now. It’s similar to using your wallet to stake through one of the DAPP sites.

from my understanding BTC and ETH are the L1 cryptocurrencies that cannot be controlled by its project owner so its impossible to rugpull, our only enemies here are whales and miners (for BTC) / validators (ETH) though they keep the blockchain up but they are the biggest sellers. Unlike layer 2 tokens and specially meme coins that have liquidities and DAPP controlled by project owners they can scam us with any schemes they can think of but I still hope and envision there will be a time that all hot wallets will need to get verified before they can transact in blockchain so that we have a real transparency and with this nobody will be able to hide those hidden transfer and selling of their own tokens.

I agree with being able to use moons for an MFT marketplace but not so much to buy shares as that would require different regulations but what if reddit created a linked DAPP that allowed you to swap between the different community points and /or stablecoins that way you never have to leave reddit to make swaps? That way you can also cash out and use that cash to buy shares when/if the time comes.

I mean most crypto are a ponzi scheme. You can at least value bitcoin with the amount of power it costs to run and ETH, ADA, BNB and SOL all have the ability to run apps (dapps). The real ponzi schemes are the ones with no contribution to cryptocurrency nor the economy in general. Adding no technology nor being priced on power. The only value of the coin is what the investors put in, they get nothing in return unless more people invest. Most of them have zero value apart from what we've put in there. Is this still one of the biggest problems with Defi? Ill use the Chainlink staking example. You want to connect to a DAPP and you have a ledger and wallet connect. You connect via ledger live using the prompt connect wallet and enter the QR code. Boom connected! Isn't it the case then - What you've connected to could be anything? If you authorsie a transaction on the ledger by pressing the button to 'confirm' one process you think will happen (say you think you're confirming to stake just a few LINK) . It COULD be the case suddenly boom! Entire ledger drained! Isn't all of that, like.. pretty shit?

Honestly I like ADA the crypto, but kinda want to see it when Charles has taken a backseat as "The Face" of ADA. I rarely see actual DAPP hype on ADA currently but rather talking about the "next major update being the thing that sends us to the moon" Sometimes I think the cultists are bit much, but it also just means they're passionate. I have my own cult as far as shitcoins go. It might get kinda cool when our cults combine forces like Captain Planet and ADA is bridged into the COSMOS IBC. On Scammers pretending to be support on Discord asking you to **authenticate** your wallet. Don't follow the link they send. My story: I was having a problem with setting up for an airdrop and I hadn't received an answer from support in a couple of days. Then someone, saying he was with tech support, DMed on Discord asking me to send a screen video of the problem. Strange, because I had already posted a video. He asked the usual questions, what browser? When did the problem start? Did refreshing the page help? There was a question if I had authenticated my wallet. I asked what was this and how to do this. The answer was I wouldn’t be able to correctly complete any transactions if I hadn’t authenticated my wallet. That's funny - I've made at least a couple of hundred transactions with this wallet No matter. Maybe this was something new with this coin. He asked did I know how? Nope. Hadn't a clue. He told me I needed to do it through a DAPP and gave a series of steps to follow and sent me a link to a page with a long list of wallets. I found mine. Clicked it. The site said it was trying to connect to my wallet. But when it failed it asked if I wanted to connect manually. I clicked yes. A dialog window popped up asking for the passphrase or Keystone Jason or Private Key. Like an idiot I started getting a copy of the pass phrase. But something bothered me. I checked to make the wallet to see if it was connected. It logged itself out, so I reconnected and tried connecting the DAPP to my wallet again. Still no connection. Okay, I'll do it manually. I started rationalizing away that nagging doubt. It's someone from FLR support who contacted me after I raised an issue a couple of times. The ticket's been escalated. I'm a programmer I can solve this problem. I know not the give out the passphrase, I'll use the private key. (stupid right) Then he started to ask If I'd authenticated my wallet, yet. Just a sec. Still working on it. I then thought contact someone from the support team who had helped me before and ask if this guy is on her team. She said no. I explained his request to have me authenticate my wallet and sent her the address of the DAPP. "Could be a scammer. No legitimate site would ask you for your passphrase." Lucky me that she was online and saved me from my own stupid rationalization of thinking I know what I'm doing. TLDR: Never EVER give out your passphrase or private key.

It would however be completely obvious, since all the *users* would be on the real chain. The attacker's chain would be full of empty blocks, and the proper chain would have every single large DAPP running on it as normal. It might not be mathematically provable on the protocol level, but it wouldn't be a mystery to the actual people running the protocol.

A lot of people are shrugging it off like it's no big deal It's an enormous amount relative to marketcap, and I don't see how they could restore the bridged-pegs short of recovering all funds (don't even know if this is remotely possible) Regardless if the above miracle happens, so much chaos has ensued in the DEFI space that anyone making moves to protect themselves yesterday would be screwed again if the pegs were restored. Regardless, this is a complete death blow to every DAPP running on harmony. It's now an empty ecosystem with a shattered sense of security. GLTA

Staking reserves and a convenient medium of exchange when a DAPP developer chooses not to create their own coin. L2s still have gas fees (that tend to be paid in Eth) though. They are significantly reduced on the L2 (and by extension reducing fees on the L1 because of the added efficiency).

Are all dapps like this? The safest is always the lowest gain, such as index fund and safe stock. When I was first into crypto, there was only BTC and ETH. And it was just mining or investing. Now there's DEFI, DAPP, liquidity mining, staking, yield farming, NFT. Which may all be the same thing.

Most of those networks copy-and-pasted Ethereum’s EVM and essentially gave it a new name and one or two other changes. Cardano is not an Ethereum clone. This means you can not just copy existing Etthereum DAPP projects onto Cardano as easily as you could with something like Polygon. I do not believe that is a downside, competition is good and Cardano is a newer ecosystem them Ethereum or Ethereum L2’s for the most part.

I usually try to stay up to date with technology but I must be getting older because I have little knowledge of, or any interest in, NFT's. I don't know what the heck bored ape is or anything. I would kind of assume the people that are in to this sort of thing are even more on top of technology than I am. That being said I'd never follow directions from a social media post in regard to connecting a wallet to a DAPP. Is this common or did some people who don't fully understand the technology fall for it?
