Stop trying to scare newbies OP. Coinbase and Robinhood aren’t going anywhere and are perfectly safe for keeping small amounts of BTC on. Yes, you heard me right, the dreaded RH is FINE to keep your bitcoin on. They have real crypto wallets and the BTC bought there can be transferred to an external wallet without any issues (fee amounts aside). I have done this many times and nothing bad has ever happened. RH can’t “turn off the buy/sell button” with bitcoin. Not how it works.

Sure. I can live off of much less capital. I'm probably fortunate enough to be "FINE" at this price point (with all the other things I have). My question sort of relates to, how long do people stay at unsatisfying jobs before they move on in life? It is not an easy thing to just give up a comfortable paycheck, but maybe BTC can help people see more clearly.
While that's a fair question. The FINE movement is really to point out how you might not need all that wealth to move on from a bs job and find more enjoyment in life. As far as it being slow. I think it's way better to slowly creap up than to double in a short time span. Things correct much harsher when the market is so volitle.

I think to myself, "It's the money!" But if I say it... The one thing I think that reassures me is the fact that **MANY OF YOU FINE FOLKS** in the bitcoin community are incredibly intelligent. When I look at the news, and the accounts, and the whole bitcoin ecosystem... I see how full of goddamned wicked smart people it is. That tells me I think we're headed in the right direction. Actually a big part of my thesis is humans are degenerate gamblers and generally cannot decipher from value and momementum. They come, with desperation and leverage, and OVER-VALUE assets. They did this to the dot com in 2001, to housing in 2008, to housing in 2022, to crypto in 2017, to crypto in 2021, to stocks, etc. The difference in crypto is that this trend is SO FUCKING SMALL COMPARED TO DEBT MARKETS, STOCK MARKETS, TO REAL ESTATE, TO FINE ART, etc. Did I add we are going to lose most currencies in 20 years? Euro first I believe. I'm proud to be a crypto enthusiast because the vast majority of people I know are talking about real estate. Their parents are talking about bonds. This was one thing that kept me from actually buying bitcoin for a long time - because people kept telling you need to do it "the right way"; you need to self custody. You need get deep into the rabbit hole. And all that sort of utter useless religious bullshit. Its absolutely okay - its more than okay, its FINE when you buy your first bitcoin and DONT have any self custody in play yet. And NO, I know for a FACT that people who buy a hw wallet do not also want to run a full node themselves. So please spare your bs. It is absolutely fine to use a third party to keep your bitcoin in the beginning and even later as long you know the risks involved in it. And again, more bitcoin were lost due to self custody than third-party custody if you want to play the statistics card. That being said, self custody has many advantages and if possible should be used.

Don't wait for like a week or two for your hardware wallet to come. Use a hot wallet for a few days and move it to the new hardware wallet next week when it's all setup properly. Hot wallets connected to the internet are FINE as long as you aren't an idiot clicking on specific links or in a compromised computer. For example, I do all my crypto browsing through one browser and NEVER open a link I don't trust or like crypto browser.
Well i was pretty much just happy leaving half my coin in Coinbase but now that everyone is telling everyone to get off the exchanges, and whoa, Coinbase Wallet isn't a good wallet bc it's actually Toshi wallet, then FINE, i'll get a cold wallet, but now how do i buy my coin? Gemini is organized in New York, a state that has historically placed more strict than necessary restrictions on crypto brokers; Coinbase is a public company subject to greater review by regulatory agencies as well as shareholders. US exchanges are FINE. Don’t gamble in the Caribbean and believe their claims of no risk gains.
