Hi Daniel, I totally get how frustrating that can be. I started investing in Bitcoin years ago and my gf was skeptical and it took A LOT of work to get her on board. I think the most important thing is for both of you to be very clear on your finances and your financial goals. Once that's set, then there's a clear north star you're working towards, she'll not only see you have a plan but she'll feel involved and more open to Bitcoin. That's what I did with my GF. During the bear market she saw my conviction and got more interested and when it shot up after the beginning of 24 she was convinced (took almost 4 yrs). I ended up sitting with her, looking at all of her finances. We cut unnecessary spending (stupid subscriptions, traded in her expensive car for a more modest one, budgeted her monthly credit card spending, etc) and found quite a bit of money that she was wasting monthly that we reallocated to Bitcoin. Now she's hooked and understands how bitcoin can change her financial future and we both have clear goals to retire in 5 yrs together. I highly recommend a financial deep dive together with your wife and setting clear plans together. Best of luck

I told my uncle 10 years ago that I have crypto. Only once. Back then it was cheap. He never forgot that. Keeps asking my mom how much money I have now. I told my ex GF in Thailand about it in 2020 only once. She never forgot it. Every friend I told it still remembers. Even when you check charts outside, people will notice. I live in Spain and originally from Portugal and crypto is not only allowed by widely adopted in both countries, to the point you have crypto ATM machines everywhere. Also mining is completely legal and CEXes operate normally like you said. Also when he is also lying when he says that developing countries made crypto illegal. I have friends from all over Central and South America (in fact my GF is Venezuelan) and they send money to their families via crypto because it's cheaper than WU or Ria.

Same thing just happened to me. Old [blockchain.com](http://blockchain.com) wallet, logged in for first time in ages to send to cold storage. Did two small transactions first just to test (saw them come in to the cold wallet v quick :) ), then the site prevented me from sending more but was still showing right balance. Logged out, logged back in and that main wallet balance is down to 0.01 on the Defi Wallet tab on Blockchain.com. The bottom fell out of my world for a bit until and I found this post. Fingers crossed it comes back soon as I am loathe to use seed phrase. My GF just told me "You can't babysit bitcoin" so I guess I need to try and chill for a bit.

Not much... found out about it in 2011 on reddit. "What the fuck is a bitcoin?" Read as much as I could for the next day, talked to my then GF about it. She gave me the ok to run it on our gaming rigs, (4850HD and 6950HD,) made $105 in about a week. Became hooked, started heavily gpu mining between 2011 and 2015. bought into BFL, lost my shirt there. (funny enough, I have a BFL miner on my desk still as a reminder not to get suckered again by false promises and bullsh!t like that.) Avoided then NFT shit like the plague. Never really got into ETH, friends did tho after they saw what I was doing and they made some gains. Happy for them. Decided then I wasn't going to mine anymore until the hardware reaches a plateau (and since has.) Seen it go from $1.92 to almost 100k today. It's been a ride.

My time horizon is this bull run, 5-10x pull out, go all in BTC once it crashes 80% and leave it there until alt season starts again. A long time frame doesn't mean just sitting on BTC for the next 10-20 year, and waiting 5 of those years just for it to go back to the price where you bought it. I dont know about that. OP probably doesnt have a will (died young). His family got his stuff because he is not married (GF). But if the girlfriend hast the passphrase. I think she should get everything. She cannot take that hardware wallets. Those are phyiscal things the family gets autimatically without a will. But if he gave her the the phrase, he wanted her to have access. He simply considered to tell OP. But he never did. He might have told his GF though.

You’d have to commit perjury in order to keep that money. If five other people testify he had crypto accounts and the GF says he didn’t, she likely loses. It’s a preponderance of the evidence standard in civil matters like this.
