You're wasting your time. The TV man told them what to think and you're not a TV man. Everyone always loved Kamala Harris and thought she was the most capable person for president forever... like 6 weeks or so. It doesn't matter she was the most poorly rated VP ever, or that she got 0% of the votes in the 2020 primary. Best. Candidate. Ever. That's the conclusion everyone on the left came to simultaneously and unanimously on July 22nd. Because they're all sharp, intelligent, independent thinkers. But it's OK, she got 0% of the votes in the 2024 primary too, and now she's the candidate. Voted for by no one... for democracy! And what about cheeto hitler's three gorillion felonies? Certainly a fair and just punishment for a ledger entry for a little over 100k that was somehow interpreted as election finance violation for the assumption he was buying one vote from one person, right? Oh no wait, 0bama paid a fine for his election finance violation of a similar amount. Oh, and Hillary did too. And Bill... it's (D)ifferent for them.

So you are asserting a VP can't and/or is not allowed to advocate for or push any of their own policy initiatives? The following is a sincere question and not an accusation: Are you an idiot?

Seems delusional. She only spoke a half hearted statement about "resetting the conversation with crypto" after her opponent started courting the industry. And then she didn't go to the BTC conference, ignored the crypto roundtable recently (I think there was like one representative from the administration there that had no authority and was in PR or something) and we are still seeing the SEC target crypto. She's been VP in an administration that's targeted crypto for 3 1/2 years. You have to be a halfwit to think she has changed her stance at all on crypto or plans to do anything other than continue to stifle it. I don't know how any pro crypto people could be foolish enough to donate funds to her. She's said the bare minimum lipservice, with no promises, necessary to try and avoid losing too many pro crypto voters.

Yeah, no, the headline is way off. Biden proposed the unrealized gains tax, which of course is a nonstarter, to stir up the pot. Harris, as nominee and sitting VP, made a general statement that she supports Biden's policies. Of course she has to say that, and of course she doesn't really mean it. If anything, Harris so far has said too little about her agenda. Her own campaign website is devoid of any discussion of issues. She's running on a Hope & Dreams marketing campaign. It might or might not hold up for another couple of months. If not, then we'll know what her actual tax policy proposals are.

To a degree yes, but in the time I’ve held it and looked into it a bit from less of a maxi perspective, there’s some narratives that are touted that are either fud or grossly blown out of proporstion. Similarly how maxis of other chains will make outdated or false claims about cardano/charles. So I encourage a bit of skepticism with what’s offered on this sub. From a VC point- would you fund a chain with problems as prevalent as what’s depicted on this sub? Would you put your money behind that? Perhaps worth questioning why theirs big names speaking at a solana convention/summit next month of the likes of VP of Visa, VP of PayPal, circle (usdc) etc. It can’t feel like a hot potatoe from where I sit, but at the same time there’s money to be maid, and sitting on the sidelines in cardano (which I strongly believe in) while solana continues flying in price, adoption, Dapps (although they may not have the same use case as what cardano strives for)… That said,

What people have to understand is that the VP does not set policy within the administration and the role is very limited, like it or not. Over the past 3.5 years, there have been reports that she's been frustrated that she hasn't been given a bigger role within the administration. She's not going to publicly undermine Biden at this time. Like any candidate, we will have to see if she wins and what moves are made after the inauguration.

Look at what happened to Rudy Gulliani and look at what happened to so many of his own hired people in government! Even his own selected VP Pence! But these men continue to fall for it again and again to no end. All this really shows easily how history worked in the past and how easily some men (regardless of position) can be deceived. It’s both shocking and troubling.

> You'd have to be purposely looking the other way to not think the VP was a real possibility--more than usual- when the President would be turning 80 in office. I don't disagree about that. But that's not what you said, which was: >You’re completely dismissing that she was the most likely VP to replace a President in history. Which is actually incorrect. History shows many other VPs having already replaced sitting presidents in the past. Below are 4 in the past 100 years. Calvin Coolidge (1923) - Replaced Warren G. Harding, who died of a heart attack. Harry S. Truman (1945) - Replaced Franklin D. Roosevelt, who died of a cerebral hemorrhage. Lyndon B. Johnson (1963) - Replaced John F. >What does this even mean? There have been plenty of replacements in history "Republicans should not be surprised that we are now running against Kamala Harris. It was her all the time,” Niki Haley on Fox News. "It’s why I constantly referred back to her, because I knew that Kamala Harris was the person that we had. And the one thing Republicans have to stop doing: Quit whining about her. We knew it was going to be her." Now, that's Niki, but anecdotally, I had family members thinking Biden wouldn't serve the first term of his presidency. This narrative you're trying to portray doesn't mesh with reality. You had the oldest candidate in history at 77. Reagan, the previous oldest, was 69 when he first ran . You'd have to be purposely looking the other way to not think the VP was an important consideration when the President would be turning 80 in office. Reagan publically announced an Alzheimer's diagnosis 6 years after leaving office and he started his first term 8 years younger. TL;DR; "The first party to retire its 80-year-old candidate is going to be the one who wins this election" Again, Haley. In *January*, well before the debate. It was obvious and the polls and enthusiasm are reflecting this fact.

That VP pick Sats…

Mentions:#VP

Look at my first paragraph. She might not have been a first pick across the line on excitement but she could have done well on raked choice. The rest of my post explains the logic. The current polling reflects this as well. You’re completely dismissing that she was the most likely VP to replace a President in history. Maybe she wasn’t an exciting candidate but people were definitely okay with her as a running mate. Remember the reaction to Palin by comparison.

Mentions:#VP

I think you’re underestimating how okay the country was with her becoming President. Biden was old and, when voting for him, there was a realistic possibility she would become President. Some thought it would happen in the first term. It turns out it was in the middle of two terms. VPs are usually low on the radar, but deep down, most people knew it was possible this time, if not probable. Statistically, it was probably the most likely VP to replace a President in history. I don’t think he would have won with a truly horrible VP pick. Most of the calls for Biden to drop out across the political spectrum were saying “Harris would be better,” even if subconsciously. I agree more people are acting like “Wow, Amazing!” But I think we’re seeing a relief (from older people clinging to power) combined with people who already came to terms with this reality.

Another thing to note about Harris is that as VP she largely had to tow the line and support Biden's position kn matters. I don't think it is odd to see her develop her own positions or pivot now that she is the candidate. This isn't support for her, just saying that whenever a VP becomes the candidate they walk a tight rope between respecting and not throwing shade at their former boss, and establishing their own independent identity.

I agree that good portion of dems asking biden to step aside. If you look my history comments in r/politics, that including me. But people asking him to step aside is not the same as that people choosing kamala running. He should step aside BEFORE primary and let registered democrats choose for her, or other candidates. Otherwise, what's the point of Primary? ×××× Kamala is chosen for VP 2021-2025. If biden died or sick & unable to perform within that timeframe, i have no problem she replace him as president. But kamala is not the choice of 2024 democratic party presidential primaries for 2025-2029. Big difference. xxxx One last point, in 2020 people voted for Biden AND kamala. Not Biden or Kamala. If one resign, the other to replace him for the REMAINING term. NOT to run for the next term.. for this she needs her own ticket. Hence why we have the primaries

Mentions:#VP#NOT

It's not the VP's job to set policy. Also, the same argument can be made on Trump. He dismissed Bitcoin previously and now at election season he loves Bitcoin. Why? He has investors that have crypto footprints. He also is "pandering" to the crypto crowd...saying dumb things like firing Genzler. Get real. Kamala at least is open to resetting the conversation and it so happens that in this very unusual election cycle we have an incumbent president stepping down from running while she, the VP is the presumptive nominee. Also, I'm sorry but there a million other shit the country needs to tackle besides cryptocurrency. Crypto would be like a secondary or tertiary priority to be honest.

Lol imagine saying Harris is inexperienced when she started as a senator the same year Trump got in office (and started his political career). So by your same logic, Trump is inexperienced. Here's the difference though, she'd also had a decade of working as an attorney general. That and trump only had a single term so he'd had a few years of sitting on his ass, not being in government. On-top of that, of Kelly is elected as the VP, between the two of them, they blow Trump and Vance out of water in total years of service and experience. You can "explain" until you're red in the face, but the truth is, the American people will vote later this year and only then will we see who will become the next president.

Mentions:#VP

For all his flaws, Joe Biden actually had experience. And he was about to get utterly decimated in November, a landslide loss. You think pulling him for his far less experienced VP, the only person in Washington with even lower approval changes the election by anything more than 1-3% bump? She has the most liberal voting record in the entire Senate and Americans overwhelmingly view the last 4 years as a poor and weak administration. Keep telling yourself Harris is anything more than marginally different from Biden

If he is president again he wont follow through on any promises made, he will do what the true billionaires that back him, ask him to do. Just have to look at his VP pick for that. The dude has 1.5 years experience in politics, no legislation passed. His only other jobs on his resume are jobs that were gifted to him by Peter Thiel, the same Peter Thiel that told trump to pick JD Vance as his VP....coincidence? nope. His entire platform is a con to stay rich and important, its not for the american people lol. How people do not see this is just effing insane to me.

Harris is still the worst approved VP in American history and Americans top 2 voting issues by far are still Economy and Border Security. Instead of beating Biden by 6 points in the swing states he’ll beat her by 3-4 points. She has no chance at a national election

Kamala Harris is a bumbling vacuous leftist who has failed spectacularly as VP. More importantly, she has not won a single delegate as a candidate. She never won a Democrat primary, finishing dead last in the one she participated in. She is a weak leader in a time where weak American leadership has allowed adversaries to unleash chaos across the globe. Our adversaries are licking their chops at the prospect of a somehow even weaker US President than Biden. What can you look at with her track record that would possibly give you any confidence in her ability to hold the most powerful position in the world?? It’s utter insanity coming off a objective failure of a Biden/Harris presidency

Anything politicians say goes through one ear and out the other for me. With that being said, if his running VP, Vance, is as invested in crypto as he claims to be, he may push hard for crypto for his own sake which would be good for the crypto world.

She’s been the VP for the past 4 yearslol.

My republican friends that voted for Haley in the primaries are voting against him because his behavior on January 6th, 2021 and his continued election denial.  Even Trump's former VP, Mike Pence isn't supporting Trump.  This type of behavior has no place in the United States.

The VP doesn't have any actual power beyond breaking ties in the Senate and waiting for the president to die.

Mentions:#VP

No. I'm not sure a VP has ever got a law passed in the entire history of the US outside the occasional tiebreaker vote. It is not really there job, and nor should it be.

Mentions:#VP

Are you saying she is a weak politician because VP's can do things. I don't think she is weak. She can be capable and it's interesting to see her not utilize an opportunity here.

The CNN article says the organisers spoke with her and she was considering it briefly, and that her people reached out with questions about Bitcoin. But take all of that with a massive grain of salt. Of course as new presumptive nominee her team will be re-looking at various things, and you’re probably right - that horrible ghoul Warren will no doubt be haunting the corridors of the VP offices

What are you talking about? If Biden ran for President Harris would have been his VP - that is the main reason Harris will probably be choosen to run because she can (apparently) use the donations they got as team. And as i said: If you are okay with her being VP to an 80 year old man, you have to be okay with her being President.

Talk is cheap, she has a chance to try get something passed now as VP before Nov as a show of good faith to the crypto industry. I hope she does but I doubt she will.

Mentions:#VP

I am not even an American (and honestly don't care for your idiotic way of having "Teams" in politics), but your arguments are kind of stupid. If you vote for a VP to an almost 80 year old man, you are obviously absolutely okay for her to be President...

Whatever rationalization helps you sleep at night, dog. You voted for her as the VP for 2021-2024. No one voted for her as President in 2025-2028 but she’s the candidate that your owners assigned to you.

Trumps so incompetent none of his team, including his VP stuck with him, but sure.

Kamal Harris is a DEI hire picked only because she is a woman and black. She was not picked because of her merit or because she was the best possible candidate as a VP and then as an installed Presidential candidate. She literally did not win one single delegate and was the first to drop out on the democrat side in 2020 but somehow gets installed with out a single vote cast for her by the people of this country and she screams that Trump is destroying democracy. You had no say for your pick to represent the democrat ticket for presidential election and yet you go along with it as it is ok. They have stolen democracy from you and millions of others.

> there is a small minority on both sides that definitely advocate for it What part of the republican party and supporters do you think condemn the insurrection that happened on Jan 6? There's a large majority of republicans that are completely fine with using violence to get what they want. Even Vance, Trump's new VP said that if put in the place of Pence on Jan 6, he would have gone through with the coup attempt. But I'm sure that's just "a small minority", and "both sides" do this.

Trump just said that after he is elected you won’t have to vote anymore in 2028. He has alluded to multiple times of being a dictator for day 1. Project 2025’s stated goals are fachist in nature (he now claims to not know about project 2025 but much of his staff have direct links and JD Vance is also a proponent). Dude claimed and still claims the election was stolen with no evidence, all court cases were dismissed due to lack of evidence or standing, withdrawn by the trump team themselves, or straight lost when tried. He still claims he has undeniable evidence of a stolen election and claimed he would release it, in something like 2 weeks but that was over a year ago (remind you of his health care plan?). These stolen election claims have eroded the trust in the election process, and he has said he will only accept this upcoming election results if it’s “fair”, however he has claimed that every election he has been in was rigged, even 2016, he thought he should have won by even more and made unsubstantiated claims regarding that, he also was claiming 2016 primary’s were rigged. Literally any time he loses or there is a negative outcome he claims it’s rigged or biased, so this upcoming election will be much of the same as last time. Believe what you will, do all the mental gymnastics you require to not think otherwise, but trump did attempt to overturn the election last time. He didn’t have to setup and coordinate a rally right near the capital, sure, but mainly tho he had ties to setting up fake electors that attempted to get into the capital on j6th during the commotion, and pressured pence to “do the right thing”. His calls to get ask for more votes pretty damning as well. When trump is compared to hitler, it’s not saying he is hitler, or has done the awful things that hitler did. I even hate the comparison because it is easy to misconstrue. In my eyes it is more of a comparison to his threat of fascism and potential end of democracy, which may sound alarmist but he is literally talking about do it. He also has statements and speeches that reference or are similar to things Hitler has said. His ex-wife has also claimed he kept a book of Hitler’s speeches, but whatever. I’m against directly calling people Hitler, but there are enough connections to understand why someone would, even trumps new VP once called him “America’s Hitler” so take that as you will.

>Many former and current senior staff involved with the RNC and T's campaign had a hand in writing P2025. T's own VP at a recent rally used P2025 talking points when speaking on government reform. There are conservatives and RNC involved in his campaign. Some might have had a hand in writing it, but that doesn't mean Trump himself is involved. Ultimately neither the Heritage Foundation or staff have any control over what does. Trump has said himself a lot of things in it are just crazy and he has nothing to do with it. He's also said he plans to let the states decide on abortion and said he won't implement a national abortion ban. It's nonsense to say Project 2025 is "Trump's plan" and just not based on any facts. >The side of SCOTUS that was put in by T, or have put their political bias on display, have recently ruled that Presidents can be immune from prosecution for official acts. That's a legal opinion. You think it's biased because you don't agree with it, but it is the opinion of people who have studied the constitution all their lives and know more about law than either you or I. One judge writing a hysterical dissent doesn't mean that it's wrong. You only agree with the one who wrote the dissent because it agrees with your own personal opinion. >A Florida judge is actively and gleefully stonewalling a critical case about the improper handling of the countries most damaging secrets The same one Biden got away with because he's old and senile? She blocked it because she believe the Special Counsil was not legitamate as it was not confirmed by the Senate based on what the constitution says. Whether her opinion is right or wrong will be determined by the upper courts. You just assume it's wrong because you're impatient and want Trump to be prosecuted. Yes, you're just repeating democrat talking points without actually bothering to do research or think critically about any of the things you said because you stay in your own bubble and let people inside your bubble reaffirm your own pre-existing beliefs.

Look, the best way to differentiate 'cult propaganda' from truth is to watch the actions of the leaders involved beyond their words. The side of SCOTUS that was put in by T, or have put their political bias on display, have recently ruled that Presidents can be immune from prosecution for official acts. A Florida judge is actively and gleefully stonewalling a critical case about the improper handling of the countries most damaging secrets. I can go on, but what blows my mind is that all this is being done openly, yet still 'oh it's all out of context, propaganda!' This is the exact thing Snowden is warning about.

He lost in 2020. Midterms and special elections held since are showing big swings in favour of Dems against GOP candidates. He's coming into the election with the baggage of Roe v Wade, multiple felony convictions, more pending court cases, Jan6 and more. He's just spent the last four years attacking Biden over his age and family, neither of which are relevant anymore. To top it all off, he can't get on a microphone for more than 2 minutes without dribbling about fictional psychiatrists or forgetting people he's spoken about in the past. He then went and picked a VP who's main qualification for the role is being so devoid of morals that he'd sell out his own country for power. Even an assassination attempt didn't increase his popularity or stay in the news cycle for more than 48 hours. Dudes at his ceiling, he's not going to get any more popular than he already is. In the space of a weekend, Harris has shed the baggage of the age and family attacks that plagued Biden . She's smashed fundraising and volunteer records and has enough endorsements to secure the Dem nomination. She's still yet to pick a VP too. So long as she's smart about a VP selection she's going to be the firm favourite to win the presidency.

The idea that she would speak was laughable to begin with. She just started campaigning like 3 days ago and is still VP (and possibly acting as POTUS). What is she gonna do, make the Nashville bitcoin conference her first priority? The organizers just sent her people an evite or some crap and then promoted that they were “in talks” with her, which meant absolutely nothing.

Okay then what about the years before being VP? I think it'd be foolish to expect anything positive from her.

Yeah I wasn’t supporting her. I was just laying out each sides strategy and how voters may react. Trump talking at the conference had a lot of buzzing around it and then picks a young bitcoin holder as a VP. Great move. It was just strategically washed out by Harris being a younger woman speaking at the same conference. Just like how all of a sudden trumps age is a stone to throw now that they got rid of their glass house on Biden street. Bitcoin voters now need to listen to both of them at the conference.

Her dad, Donald J. Harris (hilarious he shares that with Trump) was also an economics professor as Stanford too and went to UC Berkeley for his PhD in Economics. Kamala chaired the Economics Society when she was in school and led the debate team. She then got a double degree in Political Science and Economics. People like to pretend she’s unqualified because they’re ignorant. She was a DA then the AG, then a Senator of California, and then the VP. She has an incredible resume and wholly qualified for the job.

Not really. VP's job is to support the Prez, not generate new policy. I'm not saying she'll necessarily do anything positive for crypto. Just that VP's job is to support the boss's agenda, so we shouldn't expect to hear anything new or groundbreaking while she was veep. The next few months will let us know.

She'll say whatever it takes to get votes. Then nothing will happen. Notice she hasn't said a single word about crypto since becoming VP.

Can we finally admit that Biden has been mentally on a break for a while now ? And if that’s the case it should be easy to deduce that the VP had a lot of say in the current policy’s . My point is : if we agree that the Biden administration was not a fan of crypto we can safely assume Kamala will not be much different .
