The easiest route to end the chaos would be Congress removing Trump’s emergency powers (due to fentanyl crisis, which is already a stretch) to take back control of the tariffs. Going scorched earth in this scenario would likely look like him slandering them on social media which could deter enough GOP voters from voting for the incumbent GOP candidates which could swing the election in the Democrats favor. It’s likely that if Democrats took both chambers, they will take action to impeach Trump. However, the GOP controlled House and Senate could move to impeach Trump prior to the midterms to try saving the GOP from losing both chambers. Another more extreme scorched earth scenario, could look like Trump declaring martial law to prevent the midterm elections, in this scenario the Supreme Court would hold the cards as to whether it’s constitutional. If they decide it is, then the question becomes whether the military would actually follow through with these orders without there being an actual emergency to justify it and whether this course of action is even possible without igniting a full on civil war. There’s a lot of interesting dynamics in play. I think the most likely scenario will look like Trump being talked off the ledge before things become irreversible. He’ll try to turn it into a grand victory for America which only MAGA will believe while the rest of the world views it as him folding and the midterms will be a toss up assuming the markets come close to recovering.

At this point, I’ll be surprised if Trump effectively completes his term unless he walks back on tariffs, which I don’t believe he’ll do. GOP congressional seats up for grabs will be lost to Democrats in the midterms otherwise. The GOP congress will turn on him if they sense their careers are at stake. If they don’t, Democrats will control both chambers, handicapping Trump for the remainder of his term. This is all setting up for a grand finale. The question is whether Trump attempts to go scorched earth and bring the GOP and even America down with him. His political history indicates he won’t accept defeat which is why I believe Congress or the Great American past time of keeping politicians in check will intervene before complete collapse. I live in a red state and I can tell you firsthand the sentiment around Trump is changing. Some of my largest clients are manufacturing and assembly plants and they’re in extreme fear mode. They’ve slashed budgets and layoffs are looming. It’s about to get really painful for blue collar Americans here and there’s no spinning why it’s happening this time. Wrong. Check my history. I have been calling out VC pushing BS in this space for a long while. I also said, a lot of crypto problems won’t get solved by Trump and he was bad. MAGA bootlickers told me, “I should suck it up and it won’t be the end of the world.” Good thing I trusted my instinct a bit and started exiting the market abut from last Nov/Dec. I tried to warn ppl about this VC BS about “crypto AI”nonsense and avoid these celebrity coin BS, like Trump coin or whatnot. Tried so hard and very few listened.
