i’m with you, i believe theres some terrible misunderstanding on your part on how BITO works. if you want monthly DCA to dollar, regardless of price, you’ll want to go full spot ETF and manually sell a portion of your holdings. BITO’s monthly capital return is not fixed. one month it could be 1% and the next month 2%. i just want to point out obvious contradictory actions: 1. you want passive income but you’re using IRA. are you retired and drawing retirement amount? 2. you claim to DRIP the capital returns into BITO but thats exactly the same (in practice worse) as just holding IBIT. dont forget, holding IBIT directly pulls BTC supply out. holding BITO does not directly pull BTC supply out

respectfully, DRIPing BITO doesnt do exactly what you think it does. its because each BITO share represents less BTC/share every month. BITO’s exposure to BTC is thru futures contract. they use swap contracts to swap the current futures contract to one with further expiration. the reason they give capital back in dividend is the difference in contracts swapped. you lose out in multiple ways - especially DRIPing: compared to IBIT, BITO has futures premium decay, swap inefficiencies, higher etf fees, and if you DRIP - more exchange spread/fees I think you should really consider restudying the shitty ETF called BITO.

First of all 100k disposable? My God, good for you. Now, if it were me, I'd buy 1 coin and sit on it. Then take the rest and invest in safe dividend paying stocks and turn on DRIP. Then I'd DCA both BTC and stock every payday. Just remember to take your BTC of the exchange and store it somewhere you control. Not your keys, not your coin.

I would not agree with this investment strategy. I think I should elaborate since “smatter of ETFs” is not well defined, and maybe the OP might actually read this. (I am not a financial advisor, make your own choices) All cap global index fund does not have the kind of return I want to see in my portfolio. I’m a VOO and chill guy and I’m ok with that. It’s been working well for me. However there are others if I had 250k to just immediately invest, that I’d stash cash in. I really like NANC. DRIP and GUSH inverse trading is appealing as well, and SCHD also appealing. If I had 400k or more to stash, I’d start considering dividend paying ETFs.

It doesn't tend to really work that way, or when it does it's a happy coincidence. This dividend growth does not actually track the share price in any meaningful way. The main ways of dealing with this are to pick securities based on historical dividend growth, and then track that moving forward, and to grow a position with DRIP. It's actually not uncommon to have stocks with strong share-price growth that outstrips the dividend. MSFT and NVDA would be two good examples of this; no one would be upset at the recent share-price growth, of course. AMT is another in the REIT space; is not great for dividend accumulation due to the small yield which has resulted, but it's not bad to hold for growth. Then you have the other end of the spectrum with companies like ARCC, with much higher stable yields and yet little share-price growth over time.

1) You don't own coins in am ETF. It's a piece of paper that conveys ownership in shares of the fund's assets. You can't cash out in crypto. 2) Distributions are in fiat, and added to your account core position. If you have DRIP setup, it buys more of the asset. 3) BITO has been hovering around 13-14% yield. Shop around, read the prospectus.

That's similar to how dividends are distributed. Custodians buy in chunks and then take their price average and that's what you see on your brokerage as your purchase price if you DRIP.

That story is incredibly misleading. MSTR is not "in profit" at all. They still hold tokens. The only way to be "in the profit" is to sell those tokens, and if they did, they'd immediately crash the price and be in the negative again. Furthermore, if instead of putting that money into BTC, Saylor had put that money instead into a S&P ETF with a DRIP, they'd have made significantly more money and it would have been a much safer investment.

Other than crypto my main push is dividend stocks + DRIP! However I found it pretty interesting that there was a BTC ETF that would pay you a dividend simply for buying into the fund. Granted the most recent dividend went from like 0.40 to 0.005. I still thought it was an interesting idea.

Yes. Bitcoin isn't an investment for me really, it's a currency. I still focus on maxing out my and my wife's Roth IRA and we really only buy VOO and SCHD every pay period with dividends set to DRIP and then I also dca $25 a week into Bitcoin. If we happen to max both Roth IRAs I'll take the money that would normally go into Roth and put it into Bitcoin or HSA.

Unpopular Opinion: Robinhood is my favorite broker, the UI is beautiful, it’s easy to use, 0 fees, option’s trading is better than any other platform, it has DRIP, fractional shares, and pays you to have an IRA with it’s 1% match. No, it's exactly the same as a DRIP. 1. You buy 1 ETH for $2000. 2. You stake your ETH. 3. The price goes up to $2500. 4. You get 1 ETH reward for staking @ $2500. 5. You now have 2 ETH @ $2500, or rather $500 in capital gains and $2500 in income. 6. You owe tax on $2500 of income. 7. ETH drops to $0 the next day before you pay any taxes. 8. I /do/ have a bit of ETH atm, and Algo is my largest fiat investment. During this bear, I've mostly consolidated with those being by mains. I think that's a bit of the oversimplification, dividends are almost always coming from net profits and not from issuing shares. Dividends paid out don't decrease share prices, in fact they tend to increase them, since: a) people DRIP those dividends back into buying shares b) Consistently increasing dividends attracts investors, which brings up the share price c) The stock market is speculative and dividends are regular. There is little to no change in the market forces at the time of the payout (except for people trying to time the market to buy before a dividend payout or sell after). Unless of course, the business is using debt or share issuance to pay dividends, but that is definitely not the majority.

Usually I just check the 1 minute ticker, then the 15 to get more perspective, then the 4 hour and finally the 1 day. I trade based on the one minute chart. Also look at sentiment on Twitter and Reddit. Occasionally I’ll go down a few rabbit holes but I’ve come to the conclusion that fundamentals don’t actually have that much sway when it comes to day trading. Sometimes they do but usually it’s more like a popularity contest in high school. The flashy coins people talk about tend to get more volatility. I’m not talking about the true shitcoins like $HORSEFINGER-INU, or obscure and shady “defi” Ponzis like $DRIP. I don’t touch those ever.

I use Cryptos (about 45% BTC) as my High Risk High Reward segment (also from an ideals/political standpoint - I love the concept of separation of money & state). If you don’t need it as you say and you’re young then leave it in your ETF and do DRIP (Dividend Reinvestment) and let your money grow for you. Depending on how long you had that you may face capital gains on that money to only put it on a highly volatile asset where it may go up or go down hard. My recommendation would be to keep the ETF and do DRIP, and start DCA into BTC from extra money from your job.
