CRO, STRONG, THOR, LVT, LUNA, UNIV, VPND, PRE. I got suckered hard in the whole "Nodes as a service" bullshit. I Sure wish I could press rewind on the btc I sold to speculate on those. Pending loosing faith in: DRIP & Animal Farm: PIGS/DOGS, Plants. etc. I didn't buy Celsius coin - but lost a nice little chunk of btc on earn there - I was getting ready to pull it and thought, ok I'll just wait until Monday and get that last distribution and get out so I can have peace of mind - we never made it to Monday. Not more than I could afford to lose - but nobody likes to lose. Live and learn. /sad

**[Land value tax](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Land_value_tax)** >A land value tax (LVT) is a levy on the value of land without regard to buildings, personal property and other improvements. It is also known as a location value tax, a site valuation tax, split rate tax, or a site-value rating, Land value taxes are generally favored by economists as they do not cause economic inefficiency, and reduce inequality. A land value tax is a progressive tax, in that the tax burden falls on land owners, because land ownership is correlated with wealth and income. The land value tax has been referred to as "the perfect tax" and the economic efficiency of a land value tax has been accepted since the eighteenth century. ^([ )[^(F.A.Q)](https://www.reddit.com/r/WikiSummarizer/wiki/index#wiki_f.a.q)^( | )[^(Opt Out)](https://reddit.com/message/compose?to=WikiSummarizerBot&message=OptOut&subject=OptOut)^( | )[^(Opt Out Of Subreddit)](https://np.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/about/banned)^( | )[^(GitHub)](https://github.com/Sujal-7/WikiSummarizerBot)^( ] Downvote to remove | v1.5)

TW's LVT has done good, but like basically all places with some form of Georgism, it's Georgism Lite. The rates are far too low and land value assessments far too low and infrequent to have major beneficial effects. Small blurb about TW and other LVT areas in [this paper](https://web.archive.org/web/20140110172449/http://www.cooperativeindividualism.org/chandler-tertius_tax-we-need-1980-02.html)

Yeah, they trapped us now, can’t sell. Fault advertising 6% daily but didn’t say how long, now 1%. Similar to Louvertude $LVT people got trapped there too now with 15% per month instead of 7% per day like those YouTubers advertised.

> Your new tax scheme is irrelevant. 1. It ain't new; folks like Henry George and Milton Friedman have advocated for LVT for more than a century now. 2. It ain't irrelevant, as demonstrated below. > If the UBI were adopted, it would result in an expenditure of $3,096,000,0000 (258 million adults, $12,000). Assuming you meant $3,096,000,000,000, that's readily coverable with a nationwide LVT. [The total land area of the US was estimated to be worth a pricetag of $23,000,000,000,000 as of 2009](https://www.bea.gov/research/papers/2015/new-estimates-value-land-united-states); it's obviously considerably higher than that now (given that 2009 was immediately after a major real estate crash, and we're now in the midst of what's probably another bubble), but even at that bottom-barrel pricetag, LVT alone could readily cover that meager $12k/year/citizen at a 13.46% cap rate. And that's *before* we [undo the suppressing effects of non-LVT taxation on land values](http://www.wealthandwant.com/themes/ATCOR.html), *and* before we - again - consider that land values are much higher than they were in 2009 (especially in urban areas, where land value is especially concentrated); with those factors, the necessary cap rate falls even further. And to think that's purely from tax reform - to say nothing of replacing obsolete/inefficient/paternalistic welfare systems, trimming the considerable fat in our defense budget, etc.

> The UBI is impossible with hard money. Not when funded via the taxation of the unimproved value of land. A system combining LVT and UBI ends up being self-balancing - no inflation treadmills necessary, because the UBI itself serves exclusively to compensate members of society for the opportunity costs externalized onto them by those using land as property. > Labor is next to worthless without capital, investment, management and leadership. Labor itself *is* capital, investment, management, and leadership - and should be compensated as such, i.e. by actual shares of ownership in the organization built upon said capital, investment, management, and leadership. > If anything the workers used Bezos as much as he used them. All the more reason why that relationship should be equitable, rather than the latter reaping profits from the efforts of the former (and condemning said former to [give their lives](https://www.cnbc.com/2021/12/20/amazon-warehouse-in-illinois-hit-by-tornado-killing-6.html) in service of that profit).

> Your Bitcoin advocacy and socital dreams are completely at odds with each other. Not really. UBI is still UBI, and LVT is still LVT, no matter if it's denominated in dollars or sats ;) (Hell, if anything it'd be considerably easier using something blockchain-based, since a dapp could represent land parcels and citizenship documents as NFTs, and then automatically assess a fee from each walling holding the former and evenly distribute the combined proceeds to each wallet holding the latter. I don't think society's quite ready for that, but a decade or so from now, who knows?) > And there are still clear paths to the middle class in western economies and most Asian. Not for everyone. I was fortunate to have had such a path, but that fortune served to highlight how rare that path can actually be in practice. Debt treadmills, predatory pricing, labor/capital relationships, land speculation, zoning laws, business licensing / red tape, negative externalities... all of these things serve to make the rich richer and the poor poorer - and decentralized finance can be an invaluable tool to do away with quite a few of these things. > You just have to stop giving a shit what Bezos is worth. I can't stop that which I never started. Dollars are meaningless. It's the source of those dollars - the natural resources consumed to produce and store and distribute goods/services, the land under which the offices and warehouses and datacenters reside, the labor wielding those resources on that land to render those goods and services unto customers - which matters. At the end of the day, there's only one Jeff Bezos, and a handful of (meaningfully-powerful) shareholders, v. the multitude of workers that actually make Amazon "Amazon"; the only obstacle to those workers cutting rentseeking middlemen like Bezos et. al. out of the loop is society's disapproval - and society, being a fickle thing, can turn that into approval at any time.
