> Because it’s the final number, it can’t change anymore. Before yesterday, there was still an element of “we don’t know, let’s see what the final number is, maybe they revise by +130k and go back to the original number”. Seriously? The only convincing reason you would have had to post is if the BLE's final adjustment took it well outside their 90% confidence bound. Failing this, my answer is, as always, *"You simply don't understand confidence limits."* > but since it was obvious employment was on a downtrend It wasn't obvious! The unrevised May jobs report said 139K when the consensus estimation was 126K. If it had been 'obvious' the consensus estimate (gathered by Bloomberg among others) would have been far lower. So the adjustment was a surprise to the great mass of economists and analysis who go into the consensus mix. So sometimes 'obvious common sense' gets it completely wrong. The June jobs report went over the consensus estimate by a lot, and the final adjustment ended up well below the consensus, so the consensus overshot. > It’s like being a doctor, having a 90yo stage IV cancer patient and seeing that the labs show they’re in perfect health and have the biological age of a 25yo. It's exactly like that, except that this doesn't happen and you're just making up bullshit imaginary examples.

> Supporting what? That the BLS model is seriously systematically wrong in a way that is improvable given the data sampling constraints of BLE's legal mission. > I, an internet-nobody, was able to look at +147k and correctly say that it was too high. Once. You got lucky. Just because you won a pick-3 lotto doesn't make you Nostradamus. > Publish NFP again yesterday? Brother, keep up *No shit*. Do I need to write it out in glue and glitter? The question is: *What was WRONG with the NFP this month that prompted your necrophiliacal exhumation of this thread, in some weird attempt to prove that you are, contrary to the evidence, Right After All, and therefore a Very Smart Boy?* tl;dr - what did the BLS fuck up this month?

> The ability to recognise when a model is breaking. Is a model breaking when its final adjusted values turn out to be well within its stated error estimates? In any scientific field, that's viewed as a success. If they fell too far inside the error estimates, it would be a *failure to estimate confidence bounds correctly*. > Also, “calling plays on a Monday”, lmao, look at the dates on this thread. I called it last month. What did you call last month? What did the BLS get wrong this month? As far as I can tell, nothing, so far. A very small adjustment to previous stats, and a July value that disagrees with *OTHER people's* consensus estimate, but only by about ¼ of the typical BLE month estimate confidence range. Anyway, you should be betting your house on your 'common sense' genius.

> Who could have guessed? Well, the consensus was 75K, so 'everybody who does this stuff' guessed 'soft but not this soft'. What did the BLE do wrong, again? > it shows that the job market is soft. Yeah, and your earlier criticism is that the BLE is inept. > Which, again, should have been obvious to anyone with the common sense that you mocked. I hope that if you ever need a brain surgeon, that your surgeon never went to med school, never operated on anyone else, but has a whole *boatload* of common sense. Cuz common sense ain't shit compared to math and expertise. PS: Now do quantum mechanics and general relativity using your 'common sense'.

I know exactly what I'm talking about. I've made purchases on the original silk road using bitcoin when it cost under $1 per coin (and required quite a bit more gnupg knowledge and understanding of the blockchain than I'd wager you actually have). Frankly - that's the best utility for crypto that exists, and it's not really a utility a sane government would be allowing. I have all the emails from MTGox's legal proceedings - since I held more than 20 BTC there at the time they imploded... Hardware wallets are hardware. They need to be plugged in to be operational (unless you've literally printed out your keys on paper, which has it's fair share of risks well - not to mention it's tedious as fuck.) Best case is you have a usb-key, and we're right back to "dog can eat it" or "spouse/kids can throw it away", but half the hardware wallets these days have screens and wifi/BLE, and runtimes of \~3 days before needing a charge... so it gets plugged in frequently. Lots of people also just store keys directly on current machine HDDs (it's just data, people put it where they store data, and that means subject to risk of loss due to any of the normal means of data loss - electrical surge is relatively common.)

not sure what state you are in, but municipal bond closed end funds are a potential fit for at least a part of what you need. In california, Pimco offers two options both yielding about 5% and trading at a discount. Distributions are tax free (federal and state) if you live in California. If you are in a non-state-tax state, then you can just get a national closed end muni fund, like PMF. Blackrock has BLE yielding a bit over 6%.

Ya, I've smoked many briskets in my time and the only probe I usually use is a hardwire ThermaPro, and then confirm it with a handheld meat thermometer. I'm just a super gadget nerd and wanted to try these out as they are getting a lot of hype but holy shit I don't know how. I have had over 600 messages about the probes disconnecting or having connection issues. And that's after moving the base station directly into the grill. Major disappointment so far. Oh also we are developing BLE probes for your oven/range at my business and I'm using this as a test as it's supposed to be the gold standard of BLE meat probes.

Quick rant. I just received my Meater block 4 probe system. Bought myself a nice brisket and did my usual prep and blah blah. All excited to try this new hyped up tech probe shit out. This has been the most disappointing experience of simple tech I've ever purchased. Not to mention it was over 300$. I did the software updates and I also ended up having to put the base station directly on the damn grill. 3 feet away would make the BLE keep disconnecting. Now I have to think if I want to go through the trouble of returning it, or helping them troubleshoot it. Dammit. Here's some examples. Just look at the temp and time differences. https://ibb.co/52bRChg https://ibb.co/CnXJM73 https://ibb.co/61rMbZw https://ibb.co/RHt2BKB https://ibb.co/StRGvwv

Maybe is has to do with AWS making a deal to use Redfin’s empty houses for their Bluetooth BLE cloud “Amazon Sidewalk” IoT network. Could be an important partnership for both to hookup Sidewalk in homes where their proximity to flight paths may make 5g rollouts problematic or restricted. https://www.cnet.com/home/smart-home/amazon-sidewalk-will-create-entire-smart-neighborhoods-faq-ble-900-mhz/
