Exactly interesting timing. He could have easily passed this UA w/ some advanced notice. Means nothing when you’re a billionaire not to mention he should have used an independent lab like LabCorp or Quest. These labs use lower thresholds and typically used by healthcare professionals (like PM docs) where CII meds are typically Rx to cover their ass/license. If this was a hair test or saliva not so ready to beat. Should have been randomly administered too. Not to mention he could get dip sticks or a panel for all of these substances to make sure he was clean.

As many Redditors have stated already you can't go too wrong with VOO, VT and/or VTI. If a market disaster happens you'll find that nearly all funds and stocks will have the same trend lines. Personally, I'm a fan of dividend paying funds or stocks as well. Because in most cases, the dividend paying companies and funds continue to pay unless they hit some financial dire straits. Check out [https://www.buyupside.com](https://www.buyupside.com) - Dividend Aristocrats which will show companies that have paid dividends year in and year out for 25 consecutive years or more. That site also has good AI stock information. Note that technology changes quickly so expect AI/Biotech to be volatile. I personally enjoy monthly paying dividends to smooth the income stream. Most companies pay quarterly. Closed End Funds frequently pay monthly. I use [https://www.cefconnect.com](https://www.cefconnect.com) to evaluate Closed End Funds. Funds I have are: CII, CSQ, BST - more tech focused but pay a dividend monthly. UTF and UTG - more utility focused and should do better in a lowering interest rate environment BME - Pharma focused fund Everything has risk. There will always be ups and downs.

I don't understand how moving to Schedule 3 *wouldn't* allow uplisting. Plenty of publicly-listed pharma companies sell CII and CIII drugs. Cocaine, amphetamines, ketamine, (semi)-synthetic opioids etc etc. They can ship those products over state lines and internationally. They operate like normal businesses.

can someone explain how exactly a closed end fund is able to generate the same payout for extended periods of time without deviation? for example: CII has had a monthly payout for years with very little difference I believe CII is a covered call type fund which appears to be heavily invested in tech, so I'm confused how the payout is so consistent

What is HFCAA? The Holding Foreign Companies Accountable Act (HFCAA) requires the SEC to identify securities issuers--referred as Commission-Identified Issuers (CII)--if: 1) their annual reports are issued by registered public accounting firms located in foreign jurisdictions (i.e. not recognized by the PCAOB); and, that 2) the PCAOB is unable to inspect or investigate the underlying audit papers completely because of a position taken by an authority in those jurisdictions. The Act also permits the SEC to ban (foreign) companies from trading and to delist them from US exchanges if the PCAOB is not able to audit requested reports for three consecutive years. What is the issue? According to Chinese Securities Law, audit papers of Chinese companies are considered "State property" and are not accessible by foreign regulators. While the CSRC stated it has “made some progress” with its US counterpart over the regulatory disconnections, the PCAOB said in a recent report that it was “unable to inspect or investigate completely” 15 accounting firms in mainland China and Hong Kong that signed audit reports for 191 public companies with a combined global market cap of US$1.9tn over a 13-month period ended September 30, 2021.

Dear CptSafetyWafety, You are missing an essential thing: upcoming sustainability regulation by the IMO coming into business in 2023, namely EEXI and CII. These regulations put high pressures on ship owners to retrofit their vessels, which is connected to immense investments AND the insane problem of availability. With supply chain problems, shutdowns caused by Covid and lack of workers, the industry gets really nervous right now as high number (+60.000) ships needs to be adjusted or lose (!) their admission to seal on the first of January 2023. Trust me, the industry is very nervous. My recommendation, do your play and enjoy the rise in rates, but leave at some time during H1/22.

Gotcha. That petition looks to me like CII airing their grievances with the NYSE's proposal to loosen rules around direct listings, which is technically a pro-SPAC position since direct listings are a serious competitor to SPACs. The SEC ended up approving NYSE's proposal - since then, we've been seeing a number of top-tier unicorns (Coinbase, Squarespace, Oatly, ZipRecruiter) take the direct listing route. From page 3 aka page 10 of the PDF: > The Council is a nonprofit, nonpartisan association of U.S. public, corporate and union employee benefit funds, other employee benefit plans, state and local entities charged with investing public assets, and foundations and endowments with combined assets under management of approximately $4 trillion. Its member funds include major long-term shareowners with a duty to protect the retirement savings of millions of workers and their families, including public pension funds with more than 15 million participants – true “Main Street” investors through their pension funds. Before you think they're SPAC fans though, take a look at the most recent "In Focus" paragraph from [their website](https://www.cii.org/) - apparently the SEC disapproved a Nasdaq proposal to supposedly "loosen SPAC listing standards", citing concerns that CII raised in comment letters. So while I don't know if CII is directly related to the underwriters, you're definitely on the right track since they sure like to complain about going-public methods that don't involve underwriting fees.

Nice find! Just read through it but didn't see any indication of UW banks causing this ruckus. In fact it looks like they cite underwriting fees as one of the major problems / barriers to entry for new IPOs? The last page brings up a temporary delay in 2020 for direct listings on the NYSE, because of objections from the CII, which is a collection of large pension fund / endowment managers.
