THIS IS IMPORTANT!!!!! I am close to a seven figure loss in this sector. You read that right, close to 1M in losses primarily in Tilray (Aphria) and Cresco. Dismal, dismal, dismal...and beyond surreal. I really thought this was the time of our lives when the masses would realise that cannabis was a natural relief and far, far better than alcohol or Tylenol. Aphia's Solei and then CBD gummies changed my life. I was significantly affected by arthritis. I am not some couch potato who lived a life of misery. I was (and thanks to CBD still am) out there doing lots of things like bicycling, kayaking, hiking, and snowshoe in the winter. I've had two hip replacements (both very successful) and I avoid pain killers like Tylenol. CBD made the pain bearable and allows me to continue a life of adventure. Holy shit Unaphotobomber...surely you are not close to my seven figure loss! NONE OF THIS IS WORTH A LIFE!!!!!! Bottom line is we fucked up big time thinking society was able to make the leap of logic and see CBD and THC as the natural wonderful things they truly are. Fuck Trump and his MAGA bunch. Fuck Biden for not doing the right thing and getting this across the finish line when he was in a position to do so. Write it off...somehow, some way...honest to god, this has been the most fucked up investment I have seen in my 67 years on this planet. But it was not our doing. The antidote to MAGA is an ordinary political process where things can get gridlocked and concessions are made. MAGA thrive when they break the rules and laws and nobody stops them. MAGA isn't going to retreat from the shutdown because it can't be weak. Its thrived on being perceived as strong and cruel while using chaos and overload as a way to hide how weak it really is. Its not been capable of doing anything substantial for the American life in a good way - and is dangerously getting close to engaging in open war as its weakness is becoming more and more apparent. For Democrats, this is the only leverage they have and it’s proving highly effective. My biggest concerns at the moment is the unintended consequences this might have on the broader economy. And this makes sense if you consider that the retaliation effects farmers and manufactures in those states that export. I'm getting dogpiled, which is normal for this sub; most posters read a sentence but don't really think about what I am saying and certainly lack an understanding of global macroeconomic issues. I see that you have this understanding even if I do not necessarily agree with your thesis. I think we should have zero tariffs because I am a huge believer in free trade. I think this entire tariff play relates to the 2024 Hudson Bay Capital report which outlines the need to restructure international trade as a result of the dollar being the reserve currency. I think the current implementation of tariffs are unlikely to achieve these objectives but that does not change the fact that the underlying problem exists and needs to be addressed at some point.

I'm a fan of MAGA (Microsoft, Amazon, Google, Apple).. I just rolled my apple up and out when I hit 50% they have been on a bit of a tear and they do tend to rally in Jan and sell down in March to come back in June.. So if that trend continues march is the time to buy apple.

I think the best way to understand Trump's tariffs, beyond the fact that they appeal to his bullying and authoritarian instincts as a tool he can just deploy at whim, is that they are a massive wealth transfer from the Blue areas to MAGA America. On one hand, they disproportionately impact Blue areas with more globalized economies and, on average, more ties to Canada and Mexico, and it does so both directly and indirectly via reputational damages. On the other hand, the American businesses that get to benefit from the chaos and a captive customer base are more often than not often concentrated in MAGA areas.
