Aside from the problems with MAGA, wasn't the retail part of Amazon buoyed for years by Amazon Web Services until they were finally able to get their infrastructure and logistics built and were finally able to make a profit ? Trump made it historically extreme, overt, and grotesque, but it wasn't one election or one person or one party. The major parties aren't even close to "equally bad" but cronyism, corruption, and the cynical abuses of power are a bipartisan past time. And since this is a stock market subreddit, we can think about what the short, medium, and long term implications of this slow motion train wreck might be. How are our allies responding to what's happening in the US? The USD has declined about 12% since the start of Trump's trade wars and the world is looking for a viable alternative international reserve currency. I don't think that search will stop even if there's a "Blue Wave" because the vulnerability of the US as a neutral facilitator of translational capitalism has been exposed. That will take time - probably decades - but the dollar's decentralization will have colossal negative implications for the US stock market.

I never said my conservative friends were going to vote any such way. I’m saying that “MAGA” and conservative are not one and the same. There are a lot if conservatives that have never considered themselves MAGA, aren’t fanatics and have never voted for Trump. I believe that no matter what happens, the Republicans are going to get their asses handed to them in the Midterms, they’ll at least lose the House, possibly even the Senate. Trump will get nothing else done and will be impeached more than once, but the Senate will not vote to convict, the numbers aren’t there. He will be investigated several times and unless he flees the country, or dies, will probably go to jail. I believe that Vance will have the stink of MAGA all over him and he will be unelectable, no matter how much MAGA wants him (even they may not🤷🏼‍♂️) It’s quite possible that the Republican candidate ends up being someone nobody is really considering right now. But, assuming that MAGA and conservatives are the same belies a fundamental understanding of the most basic facts about current day politics.

I love the study of political theory (masters in poli sci) but the actual application of politics I find infuriating. Also, I don’t hear any references to MAGA or the Tea Party in this clip, so I’m slightly confused at your outrage. I was just saying I don’t hear that connection brought up often: that MAGA’s rise was due largely in part to identifying the growing divide in the Republican party. And Trump being a savvy enough opportunist to exploit that movement and steer the outrage into a direction that benefited him.

Unfortunately the constitution is nothing more then a piece of paper with words on it unless there's someone around willing to enforce the constitution. And who do you see enforcing it? The DOJ, Supreme Court, FBI, CIA? The military? Last year they fired every single military general and military lawyer that they didn't believe was 100% loyal to trump. And apparently they are trying to secretly record at least some of the remaining military generals because they secretly recorded one military general this year say something like he was only staying in the military to protect the citizens and rebuild things after trump. But don't worry they fired him right after he said that. Our only real hope is their incompetence but we'd still need people willing to fight for the country by protesting outside of wherever a shitty politician sleeps at night especially shitty politicians in Congress(this includes the house and Senate). And of there were a few million protestors doing this and they all had a very clear demand like impeach the entire Trump administration or release the Epstein files completely and unredacted besides victims(and Trump's not a victim sorry MAGA) and put everyone in them on trial. Then the protesters would also need to make it very fucking clear that protests like this will continue every single fucking night until their demands are met. If that happened we could see real change in this country pretty quickly. There is no one coming to save us. We need to save ourselves and we can only do that by working together and protesting together. But the protests need to be effective and things like the no kings protests that supposedly had over 8 million people at 2 of them were completely ineffective. The media mostly ignores protests like that and our politicians absolutely 100% ignore protests like that because it doesn't effect them personally or even inconvenience them even a little bit.
