I dipped out of CGTX for a loss (for now, still on my watchlist), Still in SANA watching for super cheap LEAPS, I saw the shares were deeply discounted rn. as someone else mentioned... these are speculative companies that will have a huge upside if the follow through is there.
I’m quite impressed with the tech behind it, the TIL therapy which works well on melanoma and now is also being tested in solid tumours. So far T-cell therapies have been limited to blood related cancers, but this opens up a new world. They have great tech, but it’s personalised. Another gem in this area is SANA biotech who are building the stealth tech for similar therapies.
This is, strangely enough, all true. They already built the big, new manufacturing plant. Also it is a device, not a medication, so it is an easier approval. Also, it's so simple and easy ANY DOCTOR CAN USE IT! Unless the FDA fucks them for some reason this is going to heaven but the patients will be living. Sellas and SANA I have my eyes on, too.

Every time I see a post like this people simply post all of the stocks that happened to go up 2-10x over the last six months. Basically everything has to go right this year for many of these stocks to keep running. If you want to speculate then I'd advise looking for some more asymmetric bets, stocks that may be unduly out of favour, not stocks that have already done so well. Full disclosure, I've been in RKLB and ASTS since they were ~$5 stocks, the risk/reward has changed completely since then, I'm trimming slightly, not buying. Some of my speculative positions for this year are HUMA, QS, FLNC, POET, SANA small market caps, likely mis-priced if they can achieve what they promise, they may well not achieve what they promise however haha.

It's my largest single stock by far. I am not selling for years (or if it triples in the near term i would sell up to half). My risk tolerance/thesis was set years ago so I'm very set for the ride. It's been down huge twice this year.... (literally was around 40 a month ago?) There is no other stock I'm anywhere close to as confident in. I own small positions in POET, blacksky, RIVN, OPEN, BETR, SANA. Combined they are approx 10% of my RKLB. If you decide to enter I'd do 1/3 now, 1/3 pre neutron and 1/3 if neutron fails on first launch. This is not professional advice and there are no guarantees.

Well, they seem open to partnership. That could come at any time. We know $SANA is in deep discussions, but they don’t seem to feel they need a partnership. $IPSC, on the other hand, appears more willing, so I wouldn’t be surprised if big pharma is already opening conversations with them. As for other catalysts, I think we should see some solid preclinical data in early Q2 next year ish. Also volume so low and market cap tiny. Anyone accumulating a position could just drive stock higher quickly.

Won't take decades for T1D cure. Sana's goals are more ambitious than T1D cure. Vertex started their replacement islet trial very quickly and even demonstrated the islets work as a functional cure for T1D, only problem is they required immunosuppression which caused 1 patient to die (this is the problem SANA solves). I'm a true believer, but you have to actually read and understand the papers they've published. I would start with the recent one in New England Journal of Medicine (plug it into chatgpt if it's too hard to understand). It's painstakingly obvious to me (a biologist in their field) that they have a cure on their hands. I understand the skepticism, especially from those without a relevant biology background. There's definitely a knowledge gap that needs to be bridged in order for the true value to be realized. I'll trust the data much more than a blanket statement on their website. It's been 8 years since the company was formed. They have had setbacks, lots of programs cuts, jobs cut, money wasted. It's not like this T1D cure came out of nowhere. They've put in the work and now they have positive human data. At some point, the data is just going to be so convincing you can't ignore it. 1 year data on patient 1 will be released in about a month. Should have initial phase 1 data by end of next year. I think as the T1D data mounts, the reality of what Sana has will start sinking in. I've studied Sana deeply, followed them since inception, I'm trained in their field, even spoke with their founding scientist. I'm making my bet on it with high conviction. Those that wait for more data will be able to feel as though it's less risky when they buy, but by then the stock price will be higher and the reward less. I feel like the setup right now is peak asymmetry and actually offers the best risk/reward ratio (in other words, less risky). Waiting until they're $10B market cap seems silly when you could spend 10x less to get the same number of shares now.
If you believe in them, then buy it. It’s clear from your post history that you’re all in on SANA. Either you are a try believer or you’re trying to pump their stock. I personally will sit it out. They can do meaningful research, but still be years/decades away from creating an actual usable product that’ll achieve just a fraction of their aims. The front page of their website literally says: “We understand that achieving our goals will be hard. It will take decades of commitment, and we recognize Sana cannot do it alone. There will be setbacks and even failures.” That doesn’t inspire confidence. I truly hope their technology changes medicine, but I’m not willing to bet money on it.

If you do due diligence on SANA, you can plainly see they have a cure on their hands. There's a reason their data has consistently been published in the best scientific journals in the world. This is not typical for a biotech startup at all. Their data is profoundly meaningful. It's beyond a simple claim at this point.

SANA is BioTech, not MedTech. But honestly I wouldn’t touch any BioTech either. PEN at least has actual products on the market. SANA is still in the development stage, has no products, and doesn’t generate revenue. Sure, if they are able to develop a product that’s as groundbreaking as they claim, the stock will blow up exponentially. But there are so many BioTech companies claiming they’re close to the next panacea and they almost always fail.

I had $5 LEAPS call on SANA that I sold as soon as it recovered and went ITM. Violated a couple of options rules like buy only liquid options and be careful with pharma. Long on FEMY shares though.

That's true, safety is high priority. Replacement insulin producing islets are known to functionally cure type 1 diabetes and have been used quite a bit (e.g. in Edmonton protocol) with immunosuppression without side effects due to the islets themselves. There isn't really reason to expect problematic side effects from the islet cells themselves. The biggest thing that needs to be demonstrated in lots of people is safety, as immune evasion is a double edged sword. e.g. if the cells become cancerous, that would not be good. The insulin producing islet cells they are making do not divide very often at all, so from that standpoint there is little mutation risk that could cause cancer. Nevertheless, there is still mutation and infection risk and $SANA has basically 3 strategies to deal with this: 1) a drug inducible kill switch, take a drug and it will kill the transplanted cells specifically should they become problematic, 2) cut out the problematic cells directly since they will be implanted in the arm, which is relatively accessible, 3) use a directed CAR-T cell therapy against a marker specific to the implanted cells. On top of this, $SANA has done extensive testing of their cells to make sure they don't have any unwanted mutations and can divide without causing mutations. So, while yes, you are absolutely right, more patients are needed to get FDA approval and demonstrate safety, achieving function is still a big hurdle to have overcome. I think they have adequate safety measures in place and the long-term animal studies don't indicate safety problems, so I think the risk of them having dangerous side effects is quite low. But, this will definitely need to be demonstrated in a large number of patients over several years to satisfy FDA. This is about the only risk I see to the tech, but I do think it is sufficiently low. If that turns out to be the case in the clinical trials, you should expect the price of $SANA to increase the longer the transplanted cells last in patients without issue.
They have non-type 1 diabetes programs (especially their CAR-T programs) that they are looking to partner off and use to bring in non-dilutive cash before they run out of their current cash. They are open to partnering on their type 1 diabetes program, but CEO has said it has to be an exceptional deal that meaningfully accelerates their progress. Their type 1 diabetes program is definitely their most high potential, lucrative asset at the moment. $SANA has a CAR-T clinical trial ongoing that they expect data from this year (so very soon). Based on that data, they will try and find someone to partner with (for their CAR-T program) and bring in some cash. If this happens, there should be a large spike in the stock price as it will reduce the amount of money they need to raise. Background on why immune evasive CAR-T cells are important The CAR-T cells they are developing are engineered cells used to target and kill cancer cells, but also used in autoimmune disease (which is different from cancer). In autoimmune disease, they are using CAR-T cells to kill defective immune cells that are attacking the patient's normal, healthy cells. CAR-T cells can be made from patient's own cells (these are already used with success), but there are advantages to immune evasive CAR-T cells such as 1) "off the shelf", CAR-T cell therapy can be made from 1 cell source, stockpiled, and made available to patients immediately 2) lower cost 3) last longer in patients where non-immune evasive CAR-T cells might be killed off faster (e.g. in autoimmune diseases or in patients with sensitivity to CAR-T therapies). this last point is subtle, but important. the engineered part of CAR-T cells is basically foreign/non-native material that can cause immune response and kill the CAR-T cells prematurely, preventing from doing their job (e.g. killing cancer cells). Taken together, immune evasive CAR-T cells could be very valuable and a good source of cash for $SANA.
Whether or not you're playing it for the squeeze, I think it's a good long term value/growth stock. That being said, I see a very real possibility of a squeeze setup, which is why I posted in this subreddit. Note that Eric Jackson is the one who triggered the monster $OPEN rally. I'm guessing that he's trying to squeeze the $SANA shorts.
yup, and the market size is large enough that it doesn't matter. If you value a company on 20 years of returns, you can see that $SANA's type 1 diabetes cure will work and lead to an enormous amount of profits (on the order of $10B+ a year). If you understand that their cure is guaranteed to work at this point (this is a big IF for many, because you have to be able to understand the biology and their data, ask chatgpt about it if you lack the background), you can readily see that they will become a $100B+ company. I know it sounds like a ridiculous claim (how can you guarantee anything?), but this is an odd case. We already know how to cure type 1 diabetes with lab-grown insulin producing cells. Vertex has unequivocally demonstrated that in humans in their VX880 trial. The only problem is they don't have $SANA's anti-rejection technology, so the patients have to take immunosuppressants. $SANA has demonstrated in humans that they can solve this problem so patients don't need any immunosuppression drugs. All that's left is to implant the immune evasive lab-grown insulin producing cells from $SANA into humans. There is zero risk that their immune evasion/anti-rejection technology won't work just as well in the lab-grown insulin producing cells as it did in the human cadaver insulin producing cells that $SANA demonstrated it works in. This last point is a very key point to understand. There is zero risk of the tech not working when translating $SANA's immune evasion tech into lab-grown insulin producing cells. The lab-grown cells will evade rejection just as well as occurred in the 12 patients $SANA did trials on.

Still holding my 1 DTE calls, volatility to be expected. Yea, it's a bit of gamble on my calls (shares are solid), but I already covered my cost basis on them. All I can say is $SANA is stupidly undervalued. Zero reason it shouldn't be priced at $12 right now. People keep shorting/selling it either not realizing it's real value or while ignoring it's real value and assuming that just because it's up a lot in a short amount of time, it needs to come down. pretty futuristic for sure, makes it a bit difficult to understand the significance of what they're doing unfortunately. Which I think is probably one of the reasons $SANA has stayed undervalued as long as it has.
I bounced on my small speculative play this morning. Holding my core position and will be watching and anticipating buying the next dip though. i was critical of his original dd (mainly from a financial point of view), from a tech view SANA is novel and disruptive, and started a small position at below $3, it has been trending up hit $5 once before... bought that dip as well. SANA is worth developing a position in in my opinion. I'm long 400 shares only, & 20 7.5 friday calls. Will look to add if I can get the calls to pay for themselves quickly on another IV spike.
Well I'm holding 1000 of my $5 strike calls (sold 200 of them at $6 to cover my cost basis, this was actually my plan when I bought them. Bought 1000 of the calls and thought to myself, fuck it, it's only $1k for 200 more and those could cover my $5 strike call cost basis at $6). I'm highly regarded, but even I have a limit. Exercised all my $2.5 strikes. More shares for me! :) Honestly didn't plan on exercising all the $2.5 calls I had, so feel like that somewhat replaces the 200 $5 calls I sold in terms of delta. Suffice it to say, I AM LONG $SANA. I think it's stupidly undervalued. Even getting to $12 (\~$3B valuation) would be a very conservative valuation as far as I'm concerned. No way Sana will sell that cheap.

I sold SANA at $5.20 today. Originally bought in at $4.30 because I was convinced by your DD. I'm sure it has room to grow and while I'm kicking myself for selling at the low, I don't think I'll re-enter with it trading near $6 right now but will continue to keep an eye on it.
