Bro I spent probably $1k just on fucking trading fees during that time. If ACB only went up 10% and TRST was going up 15% I cycled into that instead. Rinse and repeat - except I think I’m a genius because I’m making all this money. Never stopped to actually think about things like revenue projections, market caps etc. or which companies were straight up scams (there were many) Ah, good times….

Honestly, nobody screwed up more than the investors. Not us, but the people investing enough to have sway in company decisions. A bunch of out of touch boomers who spent their entire lives ignoring/demonizing literally every detail of anything to do with marijuana, thought they could just do it like beer/CPG that are homogenized units of sale. Their only metrics were: growing space, brand quantity, and licenses/IP. So they collectively, across the industry, bought just about every greenhouse/field in North America (and beyond), who then tried to grow and process weed as fast/cheap as possible without comprehending anything that has to do with quality. They wound up with enough growing space to supply the entire planet with a personal pound every week, and then processed it so poorly that the lack of quality was honestly impressive. Unreliable quality and inability to prevent stock-outs of what *was* ***passable*** lead to an inevitable implosion for larger LP's who spent hundreds of millions to billions building state of the art facilities to grow, process, distribute, and eventually return average weed that wound up being incinerated the next year with the brand new/nearly complete facility shutting down the year after that (or sooner).

I’m just going to give you some general advice. Don’t get pulled into whatever hot stocks this board is pumping at the moment. Most people here don’t know what the fuck they are talking about, and they certainly won’t talk about the gambles or bad parts of investing in their bags. US stocks are the sexy thing here right now, but CGC used to be, APHA(tlry) used to be, TRST used to be, IAN used to be. There are benefits to holding LP’s that you won’t hear about here, just like there are downsides. The flip side of that is that there are downsides and risks of holding US stocks that you won’t hear about as well upsides.
I had $20k in TRST so I definately think it was worth filing a claim. It took me about an hour to fill out but that's because I had to go through all my old statements.
Honestly playing inverse strat. on names like ISOL, MGW, TRST, PHOT, IAN, MMEN, N, etc. back in the day without stop loss would have been trying. However, when cannabis bottoms and there is any kind of catalyst or hype cycle, it flies and flies fast.
At one time on this board canopy was king. Their name is shit here now IAN and TRST were thought to be going big places. Their names are shit now. Then APHA (tlry)became king. Their name is shit now. Now Trulieve wears the crown. Stay tuned to see if it lasts. I’ve personally finally lost faith in the entire industry for now, but at this point, I’d rather go down with the ship than sell and have it quintuple out of nowhere, because then I’d want to shoot myself. I’m lucky enough to have made money here and moved it into other sectors, so whatever happens to the remaining is what’s going to happen.

Volume is nonexistent across the board, not just weedstocks. I hear what you’re saying though. I still hold APHA (TLRY) and TRST that has long been delisted, but I have now largely moved to MSOs including GTI and CL. US tickers are where the potential is now!

In July there was a [NR](https://www.newswire.ca/news-releases/canntrust-announces-court-approval-of-plan-of-compromise-arrangement-and-reorganization-828480024.html) about how they're trying to get the OSC to revoke the CTO and get TRST relisted. No news yet though

I disagree, TA is ubiquitous across industries so you don't need to know anything about the industry you're trading in to use TA. Mentioning APHA and TRST makes me doubt you more since those are the meme tropes from 3 years ago, GoBlue mentions his positions back then and people gave him a lot of flack for it (still do). If you subscribe you'd know that the three of us have totally different portfolios, I've never held TRST and ironically I've held CGC for longer than I held APHA. Pointing out logical fallacies by offering comparable examples is FAR from telling someone "told ya so", you might want to think about what we're both saying in those posts a bit more.
I subscribe during the slow summer months when I have more time on my hands and i genuinely think you guys do great work. I will say hi on the board sometime lol. I know you offer very different services and strategies, but your still competing for a limited amount of weedstock investor dollars. If Dan kept showing up in your sub with “told ya so” type comments when APHA or TRST was in distress, I would call him out on that too.

Yeah I played a few names in 2017. Got burnt by TRST and wayl when I was in the black quite a bit on those two. I actually made a bit on ACB And hexo. All in all it wasn’t worth it because my gains were inline with the SPY. I consider myself lucky too.
Yep. Many weedstocks investors have developed PTSD from investing in companies like TRST, IAN, SNN, WAYL (to name a few) over the years so every mistep from companies in the sector get punished hard.
I had a fun glitch earlier this year when TRST reverse split one for five - the website updated to the new dividend before they updated how many shares I had, and it was almost exciting before I realized what had happened.

The brokerage website I have TRST shares on (which did a reverse split earlier this year, one for five) updated the annual-dividend math (five times higher than before) before they updated the number of shares I had, and for a second it was really exciting until I realized where they'd gone wrong.
From what I remember it was a push from the CEO, which was the largest owner of Constellations, to get into CGC. Didn't really follow it too much farther but man you unloaded a boat of memories there. I actually put in a decent bit into TRST myself but as soon as I saw the fake wall stuff I moped out from PTSD with the APHA short report. Took a small hit of a loss but turned out to be the right move as it was a near 100% loss for others who still trusted. Just chilling here with a bit of cresco now. Can't handle that level of excitement anymore.
It's certainly harder these days than if you got in back in 2016/2017 but there is most certainly money to be made right now. You just have to resist FOMO and actually take some time and understand the companies. Even if this is a hype-driven sector understanding a companies fundamentals is even more important because those fundamentals protect you when the floor gives out and gives you the confidence to average down if needed. You wouldn't want to throw good money after bad but if a good(ish) company gets dragged down with the sector then you shouldn't have much fear in taking advantage of corrections. Criminal shit by seemingly sound companies like TRST notwithstanding.

It feels different this time. I’ve held CGC shares since 2017 (yeah I missed a lot of opportunity), but these stocks are not just hype. The fundamentals are actually being taken into account this time. CURA & TRUL (other MSOs as well) are already doing what Cam Battley lied about accomplishing back then (I had ACB in the past, let’s not talk about that). 1 billion dollar annually has finally been achieved, and the M&A activity just got serious again (TRUL + HARV), so it’s very hard to consider selling despite these market downturns. I sense the hesitant feelings from investors, and rightfully so, but I hope the actions of companies like ACB and TRST don’t reflect on these current beasts (that includes CGC for me). It’s amazing how much damage Terry Booth, Adam Bierman, Sean Dolinger, Cam Battley, etc.. have done to investor perceptions, but I believe Kim and Boris and others can dig out of this pit. Yes yes yes, of course I want a blue sky breakout again, and yes I plan to sell the news after a large legality change (mimicking Canada), but I think most people are prepared for that, so I won’t stay out forever. The revenues can finally support the hype! I have faith in the cannabis industry!!
I bought into TGOD privately at a reasonable valuation. However, by the time it listed I knew it was a turd and was able to sell into the pump. It’s the stocks that you have the greatest conviction in that are the most dangerous (i.e. TRST).
Going to ask the TRST question again. I see my frozen non quotables are over a dollar a share now. Timeline on when / ever those come online?
If it makes you feel any better I had some stop losses trigger on all the big 4 plus MSOS yesterday. Not my full positions mind you, but enough that I'll admit to some FOMO today. I learned my lesson in 2018/2019 though and will take the 10% loss rather than hang onto something that drops 90-100% (ACB, MMEN, TRST...I could go on). Of course, if the bottom had fallen out today again we'd be looking like geniuses. My plan is to wait until there is a reversal confirmed on the Daily timeframe and then buy back into some of those positions a bit. The difference between what the stop loss sold them at and the buyback price could be considered downside insurance.

I added today. I really don’t believe this report. There is no real substance to it, and the timing is hella fishy. People on here comparing this to TRST are just spreading FUD. This is nowhere NEAR that. This will be forgotten about in the coming weeks/months. My opinion.

Clearly you're worried about the stock dropping as I seem to recall you saying you're heavy into GTII. No need to freak out on me, I'm not affiliated with GTII and their backroom deals. If the price drops then so be it, but my one off comments on here have ZERO impact on what happens in the market so you can relax and wait and see what unfolds.

Im generally out of weedstocks after YEARS of bagholding apha, ian, acb and mmen. Sold most for a loss and broke even on apha. However im still long and strong on TRST (because I can't sell). Anyone know why otc has it so high lately? Are they turning a corner.

Same tbh. I've been scoping out a position, but I didn't know the mgmt, and the interviews I heard from em, just sounded a bit standoffish/awkward vibes. Thats natural/acceptable - they havent been public long, some media training will need to be done, but this sort of stuff spooks me. There are very few cannabis stories that have 'worked out' when someone takes a risk on mgmt in exchange for assets/guided #s, and a LOT of companies that absolutely exploded in ppl's face. I barely missed IAN, that could have wiped me out. Never owned TRST or MMEN for the same reason. Got a punch to the head in HARV, but luckily got into the better Tier 1s at a mostly similar %drawdown from the highs.
