Dude fuuuuccckkk the metaverse. If you've read Ready Player One you'll get this reference. Zucks metaverse is like if IOI created the oasis first.
Honestly, Ready Player One describes this situation really well. Yes, there will be players, always will. But there's a huge difference between influencing and owning. Besides, you are wrong : Bitcoin is influenced, but in no way or shapes it is owned by whales like MicroStrategies. The Oasis will exist, so will IOI. But the latter will not put its paws down on the former. If you want a good, real world example of this : *Blender*. This piece of software started as a rough 3D modeling software, stayed open source and is now on the verge to send the big players to fuck off somewhere else, because it's so good now and can't be bought. As for Linux, the only reason I'm not using it is because of those programs Blender is replacing. Once I'm good on Blender, then I'll switch to Mandrake. It's just my ass, everyone is different, but my point is : Big players are not a curse. Just whales. They are big, they create waves but they aren't the ocean.

And also Im pretty sure with every platform(banks and third party apps) it hasnt actually settled in the backend. Its just IOI messaging for the client. So instant actual settlement is what is going on here if im not mistaken.

No it doesn't suck. But what Meta is creating is not a multiverse. A multiverse should be fully decentralized, and I can hop from one platform/app/website/game to anything I want. What Meta is making is more like IOI in Ready Player One.

That was a whole subtext of the book Ready Player One. Movie just barely touched on it. Most of the people that were sixers were working in play to earn games to make money for IOI because the in-game currency was more readily traded than fiat currency.
