Thank you. I'll check out IWS and IJJ. I'm not sure AVMV should be in that mid-cap list though?

There are plenty of other options in the mid-cap space that may be more suitable for your needs. Mid cap blend: IWR, IJH, XMHQ, VO, Mid cap value: IWS, IJJ, AVMV Diversifying beyond US large cap is wise if you are a long term investor.

Tech stocks have been doing well for years even before AI hype for other reasons. Innovation has been rapid in this sector. It’s worth investing in long term even with a bubble burst. Consider 25% QQQM 25% CGDV 25% AVMV 25% AVNV.

Bonds are just as risky as stocks with low return potential. The ten year return of BND is around 1.5% per year, not even keeping up with inflation. They are okay for diversification and peace of mind but I think 70% bonds is reckless. If you are scared of another lost decade I highly recommend investing 70% into funds negatively correlated with big tech. AVUV, AVDV, AVMV, AVIV, AVES, 0r just AVGV to get all of them. I’d recommend 30% AVUQ, 70% AVGV. But it sounds like you need a financial adviser who can teach you emotional management. Behavioral risk is the biggest risk of investing.

I do a multi-factor portfolio with a mix of momentum, quality, tech and size/value. SPHQ, SPMO, XMMO, IDMO, IGV, SMH, AVMV, AVUV, AVDV, LVHI, even split between funds. 20% quality, 30% size/value, 20% tech, 30% momentum. 70% US 30% international. 60% large cap, 20% mid cap, 20% small cap.

Lol yeah, i should have got on that dip this morning I gotta free up some buying power which will probably mean selling my AVMV and AVUV (Medium cap and small cap value) ETFs for a loss I bought 100 shares of NBIS in my accounts to sell calls on in my different accounts but probably should have done RKLB in one of them especially coz it's cheaper Waiting for stocks to go down to buy shares is much less stressful than getting mad when they won't go the right way for my options at least ![img](emote|t5_2th52|8883) I don't miss that feeling

Is there an “optimal” strategy in terms of splitting which ETFs are in a taxable brokerage vs Roth IRA? I’m aware that for stuff like bond ETFs and REITs the Roth IRA is preferred, so I was wondering if there are other similar “strategies”? If so, what’s the play with my (27m) current portfolio: Brokerage: VOO 45% AVMV 15% AVUV 15% VXUS 10% AVDV 10% AVES 5% Roth IRA: SPLG 40% SCHG 10% AVMV 15% AVUV 15% AVNM 20%

Why mention AVUV and not AVMV

Depending on age, risk tolerance, etc. Keeping it simple helps. I'm 50, hold no bonds, my 401k is 60% S&P500, 30% International, 10% SCV. My Roth ira is 70% VT, 10% VGT, 10% AVMV, 10% AVUV. I'll add bonds in 15 years. This is as both simple and complex as I want my portfolio. If those %'s include the TDFs, I think you're about 10% lite on international. I would do a minimum of 20% for total portfolio. I know international has sucked but, if predictions for the next decade for US stocks become reality, then some extra international will help overall performance. Pay attention to MM expense ratios. I have SPAXX in my Fidelity Roth ira, and it's .42. Many folks put cash in ultra short government treasuries, and the top choice is SGOV. Its expense ratio is .09. So, depending on how liquid you need your cash, you might look at that as an alternative.

AVMV is more value tilted than XMHQ. You can see by their equity fundamentals where XMHQ is a p/b above 4 and AMVM is in the mid 2's. XMHQ is targeting a growthier "quality" strategy which seems to prioritize metrics like cash flow growth, while AVMV excludes more growth priced assets and then does a cofactor screen on profitability. Data only goes back to nov 2023 for comparison since AVMV is new, but theyve returned fairly similarly as of today. XMHQ is smaller cap tilted than AVMV. XMHQ is 50/50 small/medium expensive company tilt while AVMV is 75/25 medium/small value cheap company tilt. XMHQ is by far most tilted to the industrial sector, while AVMV is most exposed to financials (a common source of riskier cheap profitable businesses).

IVV and AVUV. Hoping I will end up liking AVMV too.

Here we are basically talking about Dimensional Fund Advisors and Avantis fund advisors. The make the best value /size/profitability factor tilt funds. Classics involve AVUV/DFSV, AVES, DFIV, AVDV, AVGV, AVMV, AVLV, AVNV, etc

AVLV, AVIV, AVUV, AVDV, AVES, AVMV. Or AVGV that captures them all.

AVUV is small cap. AVMV would be the mid cap equivalent.
