You’ll also have a political push back when a large portion of voters are negatively impacted by AI. That will lead to either massive taxation in AI/robotics/automation, to be able to provide public services. Then there’s also the case for needing to provide BUI to everyone who has been automated away from their jobs. You’ll have no other tax base to fund this than the companies making money on AI, so what gains are you really left with? AI is pretty much screwed one way or the other. It will either fail to deliver on the massive efficiency gains by replacing workers, or it will be taxed to hell and back to replace the tax base it destroyed.

The problem facing AI if it truly delivers on the promise of automation, is that you will eliminate a huge portion of the middle class and there will be few high paying jobs available. Wages for manual labor jobs will likely go down as theres an increase in applicants, not accounting for the promises of robotics. In previous make technological shifts, workers had somewhere to go. New sectors were created that needed people. The promise of AI and robotics is inherently to replace people. If this truly affects all sectors simultaneously and we have mass layoffs as the driver for AI ROI, political pressure will increase and a significant portion of voters will demand huge AI taxation or restrictions. Countries will face the problem of a disappearing middle class tax base. Companies will now need to be taxed heavily to provide both BUI for those replaced, as well as the taxes needed to fund all other public services. BUI will cause massive changes in consumer demand and prioritization as well, and without it companies will see aggregate demand plummet.

He's asking about the business of powering those data centers, not the business of owning data center properties. I invest in that space through utilities and infrastructure funds like UTF, UTG, and BUI.

If you have a boat, get a Towboat US membership. Drive as far as possible, get hammered and call them saying you’re dead on the water. They’ll tow you back to the ramp/house. For like $90/year. Done it three times already this season. Already saved me tons in boat gas and possible BUI’s

Most will suggest VOO and other broad market etf's. Sure. But I'd suggest researching a few CEF's that give decent distributions that can be reinvested into the fund. Example EOI, JEP, AOD, USA... some are even area specific BSTZ (tech) or BUI (infrastructure)

Love the picks....but just for clarification sake and new investors don't get confused. UTG, UTF, and BUI are all closed end funds and not ETFs technically.

UTG, UTF and BUI. Combined these things throw off about $60k in dividends a year... plus they are qualified which means lower tax classification

High yield bond funds invest in junk bonds.... so don't get into it. I like NXP as it's 4% tax free. Other dividend funds I like are BDJ, BUI, UTG, UTH, LQD, Sphy, SCHD, etc.... I invest in a lot of them

I invest in BUI, its a utility fund with a solid dividend. No much growth though.

Look into close ended funds. Blackrock has a variety of term with 20+ year histories. BDJ, BUI, etc..... I invest in some of these and it's a nice consistent 7% yield

Active DCA? Rebalancing portfolios? I would hardly say I am an active trader day trading... Just being proactive. And impossible to be up that without being in tech stocks you say? Really? Your math proves it is possible: 5% on a 5mil portfolio is $250k.... Highlights of my portfolio: VDE - great returns SCHD - great returns SPSM - great returns VXUS - solid returns VTV - solid returns BDJ and BUI - not a great return on appreciation, but did very well with dividends Bond funds - pretty break even in terms of appreciation, BUT the yield has been high, therefore solid returns. DEFINITELY possible.

Remember, there is a hivemind mentality on Reddit. So, keep that in mind. Everyone on here is not correct. In fact, most people are signifantly down this year because they follow the hivemind. Dividends are solid. You should focus on funds that both produce a dividend and offer appreciation. While VOO is pretty solid, I think it is foolish to dump everything into one fund... create a diversified portfolio with multiple dividend producing funds that also appreciate. I am thinking SCHD, VYM, VIG. BDJ, BUI, VTIP, etc... My portfolio has close to a dozen funds and I am actually up 3% this year... the last few days have not been fun, but at least I am not down 25% like the majority of people who said to just dump everything into VOO...

Mostly funds. BDJ, BUI, and BLW are all pretty solid. Also have some money in SCHD and VIG.

If you are a longer-term investor, it should not matter, though you should be doing okay. If you were trading and trying for a quick score the last year has been a challenge. The S&P 500 is up 1.73% over the last 12 months, but down 11.11% YTD. If you were not trying to be fancy you have been doing just fine. Bad time to be looking for home runs though as the NASDAQ is down 8.18% and Russel is down 14.70 over the last 12 months. With the account, I am actively buying with fresh money, my gains are 22.32% for the last 12 months and 6.04% YTD. Nothing fancy, just buying value (with a strong preference for dividend stocks), like AGLXY, AVB, and VST. My worst bets were BUI and MPW, but they are each paying 6% so my -11% average hit on those two is not too bad and I plan to hold them for now. My buy and hold generic ETF accounts are up 3.46% over the last 12 months but in the red 4.02% YTD. My main goal is not to screw up the nest egg, minimally to keep the value ahead of inflation, and ideally to match the S&P in growth while earning 1+% more in dividends than the S&P. Remember, only about 5% of professional managers beat the market average over twenty years. If you match the market and don't pay advisor fees you are a winner compared to most.

Because we don’t live in pure capitalism as it is regulated by the government. We have this suedo capitalism with a hint of socialism. Just turns out we’ve created a system that, for the rich, privatizes gains and socializes losses. With the right regulations and incentives I do believe capitalism to be the only system to properly motivate people we just need regulations that at least tie minimum wage to inflation, get money out of politics, a restriction on the ratio highest paid vs lowest paid in corporations and a fair tax system, maybe even a better safety net like BUI? Easy peasy /s
